I mean what can I say? If you want a she/they queer MC with religious trauma and muscles for days and a femme sapphic with anger and jealousy issues this is 100% for you.
This is not for the feint of heart, it is a more dystopian/horror leaning dark romance with a fair bit of gore around the wild spice scenes. I found it a really interesting premise however and really enjoyed the fusion of dark romance and dystopian genres here.
I suggest reading the TWs at the beginning which admittedly I did not. Helpfully the authors list everything in depth but I’ll list it below also.
Rep// White non-binary masc she/they queer MC, White she/her femme sapphic MC. Central romance is NBLW / sapphic.

3.8 ⭐️ Always a joy to be pulled back into this world. Whilst this wasn’t my favourite of the series it was still wonderful to listen to.

Audiobook narration 5 ⭐️ There is something so soothing/captivating about the narrators tone. Rarely will I pick audiobooks over physical, but with this series I adore the audio.
Vo’s writing style eternally has me floored. I think many novellas struggle with pacing but I’m yet to read a book by Vo that feels incomplete or rushed. They’re the perfect short read I turn to whenever I need to get out of a reading slump. It’s also a beautiful commentary on the power of memory and the privilege behind being heard.
4.5 ⭐️ A western / dystopian novel with a bunch of LGBT+ librarians toting guns.
I only marked this down a bit because I needed more of it.

This was a book I ADORED but I seriously wanted more from some of the parts of the story. I wanted to delve into snippets of the world that were briefly mentioned but could have been explored further.
Everything else I loved. The setting is gripping and very much echoes realities and fears faced currently. It explores ideas of censorship and governments but in a Wild West futuristic setting.
Rep// Lesbian/Sapphic MC (doesn’t like men but does like non binary people), Non-Binary love interest (they/them), multiple sapphic prominent SC’s and a prominent WLW relationship between two women SC’s.

It’s a simple premise: Why am I here? Am I enough? What is my purpose? The story is a wonderful exploration of that.
I was3.9 ⭐️ Cozy & contemplative.

I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this one but I found myself completely immersed in this cozy read.
I do wish there was more focus on issues within the society because I have a hard time believing anything completely utopian is possible. Regardless of that Sibling Dex’s growth is wonderful to see.

A non-binary lesbian tracking down a masked killer with her anime loving best friend? Yes..
The humour in this is really well polished as is the banter between the best friends.
I also really appreciated how coming out is handled in this, it was a comforting and fresh take on the subject. It’s a lot lower angst surrounding the subject, a lot less pressure and urgency, which I appreciated.
This is a murder mystery with slight mystery crew feels and a dash of Knives Out if it was set in high school.
I would like to point out some -possibly problematic- antisemitic tropes featured in the second half involving secret societies, wealth, and other themes. It would be interesting to hear other opinions.
Rep// MC is a Non-Binary Lesbian, Queer Black SC (boy), Pansexual Chinese SC (girl), Trans SC(boy), Non Binary SC, Many other queer/non binary SC’s that are more background
Thank you to Harper Collins for providing me with a copy for an honest review.

We have a lot of morally grey characters here, all with rich backstories and missions. I couldn’t put this down.
I haven’t found a sci-fi I’ve been this drawn to all year. Whilst there’s a lot going on I found it easy to follow, and there was so many plot twists that genuinely had me surprised.
Rep// Bisexual White MC who cannot speak and uses Sign language, Sapphic Asian MC who uses a prosthetic, Non-binary Japanese MC (they/them), Ace panromantic MC, many other characters who use Sign language. Central romance is queer / sapphic but isn’t a heavy focus.
