I read this years ago when I was very young, a fantastic story about good Vs evil. The story is very moving at times and I can remember being pretty scared as the evil creature is hunting them down...I also remember trying to see if the family dog was able to communicate with me using a scrabble board, he ended up just lying on the scrabble board and having a nap. I'm not sure what this proved; did my dog not want to talk to me or was Mr Koontz a liar?...more
Odd's first book was amazing, his second adventure is a bit silly at times. Odd's childhood friend is missing so Odd decides to investigate and using Odd's first book was amazing, his second adventure is a bit silly at times. Odd's childhood friend is missing so Odd decides to investigate and using his ability to wonder around until he finds what he is looking for, it is not long before he locates his friend. Then the bad guy, in this case lady, enters the story and things get a bit crazy.
The book is well written the issue is the plot is a bit weak, although the ending of the book sets things up nicely for book 3....more

In Odd Thomas he has created one of his best characters, Odd is quite a lovable person and easy to cheer on in times of stress.
The plot in this book is good, a sort of detective story as Odd tries to figure out what disaster is about to hit. There are some creepy black shadow people that are gathering for the event and it becomes a race against time to ruin their day. And Odd also sees ghosts, they are either wanting help, murdered victims, or just hanging around, Elvis. The ending of the book is brilliant and might be one of the reasons people hate it so much....more

In this outing Rankin decides it's time to resurrect Jesus seeing as the new millennium nearly upon us. there is also a love interest for Pooley at long last, poor bloke needed to get some. Complete lunacy as you would expect from Rankin as Brentford come up with a way of celebrating the millennium early and getting some cash from the millennium grant. Fantastic writing with perfect comedic timing....more
