So the only reason I’m reading this is because of the show.
Whoever said this is the contemporary Jane Austen is wrong. Beside it being set in the 1.5*

Whoever said this is the contemporary Jane Austen is wrong. Beside it being set in the regency era, this is nothing like it.
Um, this book is completely daddy issues and yeah, thats it.
I felt kinda bored reading it. I had to switch to the audiobook to read along (which help).
The writing and setting was fine. I like the side characters (Anthony, Collin, Francesca, Hyacinth, Lady Danbury, etc.) I felt that Daphne had no personality beside being nice. Simon’s personality is that he had daddy issues. The fact that i like the side characters more than the main character , um? I didn’t really give any care of Simon and Daphne relationship.
***Spoilers: Daphne r*pes Simon when he intoxicated and half asleep... yeah its still r*pe even if a woman does. It is just so wrong. The book makes it seem Simon is in the wrong for the situation and Daphne in the right. Everything was okay before that, but.... End of spoilers***
I mean I like the show, this was just disappointing. Probably going to read some of the other books in the series. This could be a good book but that one scene ruined it. Lol, i like the second epilogue more than the actual book.
Um spicy....! Good Cinderella retelling. I like how in this Cinderella isn’t all good but sometimes selfish, a good change up from most retellings. 3*
