i really really liked this book. it was so entertaining and exciting, this is the kind of book where you end up smiling. It was also very fast-paced, I liked how the book separates the story in days it really makes you feel in the setting of the story. The story really got my attention i loved the game of Assasin, i didn't want to put the book down.
i didn't find any of the characters unlikeable, except maybe Luli she was a bit infuriating at times but i understood why and it fit the story anyway. in fact, i LOVED the characters so much, i can't get over them. Especially wit.

THE BOYS?? THE SMUT?? perfection.
this book had loveable characters, and amazing spice and the plot was fun to read. i liked the twitter threads and the layout of the podcast.
layla thompson
i liked layla, she was sweet and a little funny - i liked her sarcastic humor. i love how strong her character is and the way she ran her own business.
 the boys
i LOVEE that the guys all have their separate distinct personalities, they're not all alike. i really liked the guys.
zack
I really liked his character. he was cute, funny, and flirty. in the beginning, he made everything entertaining and he was a really great friend to layla. i liked reading about him.
and omg i LOVED his weird nicknames to layla, it made me giggle and smile at my book.
however, as much as i do like him he slowly became my least favorite in the end. i didn't like how he broke up with layla, it was SO SHITTY OF HIM. um, how dare you.
i get that he had to properly grieve his (view spoiler)[ dead ex, Emily (hide spoiler)] but i didn't how it took him so long and it hurt his friend, layla in the process. i liked how he came over it and finally got to his senses in the end, but by then he just became boring to me.
idk, he's just not my favorite.
josh
I LOVE HIM. <33 my baby josh, he did nothing. he's definitely my favorite man over the entire book, he looked out for layla the entire time.

i really liked how teenage this book felt. it was a super sweet book with girls who acted like normal teenagers. I loved it.
harper
i thought her power was maybe a little cool at first, however, reading this book from harper's pov it definitely feels more like a curse.
i really wish i could go in this book and hug harper. I understand her loneliness and her grief seemed so powerful, especially with the responsibility of seeing the numbers on everyone's forehead. I loved her character and the depth of her emotions.
i liked her humor and the way chloe made her happier and a better person! <3
chloe
i lovvveed chloe! already when i met her in the first few chapters i liked her. she's such a happy, fun, sunshine person. she reminded me of daisy calloway, especially with her theories of life and an adventurous spirit!
i really liked chloe's character and how blunt she was. Chloe was funny and i loved her personality.
i like how sweet of a girlfriend she was and she cared about harper a lot.
_____
chloe and harper!
they were sooo cute! every moment with them made me smile and squeal. i really liked how they easily progressed as friends and the way they slowly entered their relationship!
their friendship was cute and fun. i loved their dynamic together, chloe helped harper have fun and let go of her gloominess, and harper tried to take care of chloe and keep her safe.
the number on chloe's forehead definitely gave me some anxiety and put me a little on edge as it crept closer, however, i loved how the book ended and seeing harper struggle with the grief of her mother and the weight of knowing the number.

i loved how real this book felt to high school, it was a very teenage book and i loved all the characters.
i love iris. i love her so much. iris starts out as a mean, closed-off character but even then i liked her. i loved her character development and her growing friendship was claudia. Iris is so funny and she feels so much, i related to her a lot.

i love garrison. hottie. his character development was amazing in this book, he got better friends and relationships with connor, ryke, and lo. i loved the lo/garrison moments.
Connor, Ryke, and Lo—they protect me all the time. They care about me when they don’t have to. These are three brothers that I’d never trade in, never swap out, and even though we’re not blood-related, I know they’re mine.
MOFFY! i love the moffy scenes and garrison's close relationship with him. it was adorable.

i love willow so much, she's an extremely sweet girl. She's also super relatable and i saw a lot of myself in her because we're both introverts and hate being in public. i love her personality, shy but she's really brave. she's just so cute to me.
garrison's story was heartbreaking. his brothers are assholes. i liked reading about his home experience in his pov.
willow and garrison. gillow
they're such a cute couple. i really liked how they became friends first and how their relationship progressed because we didn't really get to see much of willow and garrison in the main series.
they had such a teenage kind of love??? if that makes sense. it just felt so cute and they both cared for each other deeply. They're obviously younger than the other couples and it was just adorable to see them in high school and college together.
_______
the writing
the writing of this book was a little confusing. it didn't bother me that much but i did have to sometimes check what 'time zone' we were in.
it was adorable reading about gillow but it was kind of lacking? like, it didn't hit as hard as i thought it was going to. i was also kind of surprised by the ending, it just felt like a short book.
honestly, i don't mind. this book was easy to read and felt very fast-paced. i couldn't stop reading.

side characters and addicted crumbs
i ATE every single mention of the core six. i loved seeing my favorites again and i missed reading about them. they're all just so special.
i love the glimpses we got of their life. rose and connor, daisy and ryke, and the cuties - lily and lo.
Rose and Connor wear these regal golden crowns. I don’t even think they’re plastic. Like, legit crowns. The Cobalts have to be the most extra people I know, and honestly, I can’t believe I work for one of them.

she's such an energetic ball of sunshine, and i really do adore her. i think she might be my favorite sister. i love everything about her. i love how adventurous she is. i love her style and her shirts with words on them.
i love her story and her struggle as the youngest. it really hurts my heart that she was left out of the group. i loved how comfortable she was with ryke and he was there for her when no one knew she was struggling. daisy is so strong for everything she was put through.
ryke medows
RYKE MEADOWS this guy. i love this guy. I love how he cared about her. - i mean, sleeping near her and checking all the windows because it brings her comfort. TAKING CARE OF HER WHEN NO ONE KNEW! WHEN HE CARRIED HER TO THE HOSPITAL. ryke makes my heart swoon.
I love how much he cared about lo and his brother's opinion. Ryke cares so much for Loren, he genuinely wants to do good for his brother. I love the two brothers they are together and the way ryke pushes lo. I loved the bromances in this book. lo&ryke. ryke&connor.

_____
+ ok I've got to say this because it's driving me mad. it PISSES ME OFF when people say ryke is a groomer/ groomed daisy. clearly, y'all are idiots and don't know the definition of that word.
Grooming is when someone builds a relationship, trust, and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate, exploit and abuse them. Children and young people who are groomed can be sexually abused, exploited, or trafficked.
read this fucking book and you'll see ryke never did any of these things. she was eighteen, they had an age gap and she had her consent.
please educate yourselves before you start throwing words like that around. it's so annoying and fucking false. if you don't like the book, that's fine really. however please know what you're saying.

there were definitely moments in this book. I liked that they showed more of the roommates in this book with demi and hunter.
characters ──── Hunter. I don't know how I really feel about hunter. Out of all the boys, he didn't really stick out to me. I don't hate his character or how he was written, though I don't think he had enough * spice* . I liked how in the book, he slowly gained trust in himself and differentiated him from his father. I liked how that played into his role in hockey, school, and personal life. I also liked how after he broke his celibacy, he had a day to reflect on it and didn't put the blame on demi, but himself. Hunter had a pretty good character and honestly, I don't have anything wrong with him. Demi . out of all the briar u girls, demi was my least favorite. Nothing was bad about her really, but again not really much *spice!* . Demi was also by far, the only somewhat detailed colored person in this series. We know that Rupi is Indian, but we don't get a book on her. We also know that Brenna is a little bit darker than Summer. She doesn't have pink-ish nipples but instead is described as reddish-brown. Demi is Latina, and we know her mom is Latina and her dad is black. We don't really get any other info other than a few mentions. I like that demi experienced her breakup, somewhat well. And how she spoke up to her dad. I don't really have an opinion formed on her. ──── ──── plot & relationship in the beginning, one problem that I had was that I really liked demi and hunter as friends. I also really liked Nico and Demi. (i regret that, nico u piece of shit.) BUT I feel like that was because the author tried to build up the relationship between them so it would be better for them in the book. Although I feel like that kind of backfired a bit, I liked the teasing friend banter between them and while they kept that, the one thing hunter liked about demi, in the beginning, is that she didn't want to have sex with him. .... okayyy. that was short-lived. I have come across them being a couple. It's cute, hunter and demi. If I'm being honest I loved their relationship and the fact that they had ACTUAL COMMUNICATION. (ahem.) I loved that demi could just ask hunter for reassurance and he would give it to her no questions needed. I also liked the plot and the class therapist situation in the beginning. Again, I have no real problem with this book. It was a simple cute read, it just didn't have the effect on me.
woahh. I loved this book, it was nothing like I've ever read before. what really captured my attention was the flashbacks and being in only one- POV. woahh. I loved this book, it was nothing like I've ever read before. what really captured my attention was the flashbacks and being in only one- POV. I loved reading about elliot and macy as children and their closet full of books. I loved the details and how beautiful the writing was.
plot ˎˊ˗ __ two childhood besties, macy sorenson, and elliot petropoulos. they're best friends who then turn into lovers to strangers that don't talk for a decade, to friends to second-chance lovers.
i loved the childhood best friends. I liked the chapters where we could them grow up together in the past. I think i also liked the second-chance romance, i haven't read anything of that sort and this was a good introduction to that trope. I also kind of like how we didn't know what happened between them so early on, it kind of built itself up and i loved reading about them in the past I honestly didn't mind.
romance ˎˊ˗ i loved their chemistry together. I thought they were cute. young love. I like how they had a thing together where they would just go up and read in the closet. I love how they were together and talked about their favorite books and their favorite words. I love that Elliot asked her that nearly every day. + he's been in love with her for forever and the fact he broke with his girlfriend after seeing her because he didn't want to be with anyone else. ahhh. cute!
_______ Macy's dad ˎˊ˗ i love this man. he tried so hard and was just the sweetest. I love perfect her dad was even as a single dad, he always cared and followed the mom's list! awhh my god.
“But my dad learned how to put my hair in ponytails, what kind of shampoo to buy, he even had someone teach him how to braid and use the curling iron for special occasions. He could have done what was easiest for him and just cut it all off. But he didn’t.
you see? oh my god. he was so caring. just stop, my heart broke when...(view spoiler)[ we found out her dad died, it made the flashbacks in the past that much heart-breaking. (hide spoiler)] he was so sweet and always cared about macy's wellbeing.
they both enjoy reading ˎˊ˗ I love elliot. the shy book-smart men have my heart. I loved the way he was described, with his black fluffy hair and greenish-yellow eyes with his glasses. the moment we found him reading in macy's closet I knew i liked him. I looooved how they both read together, even if they weren't talking they were just in the same room reading and enjoying each other's presence. i love characters that enjoy reading.
the maturity of when Macy ended it with Seanˎˊ˗ i have to talk about this. I have to. I liked sean, i loved his character and how well he was written, i love the role he played as a single father and macy's fiancé. When macy told sean about seeing elliot and her past, he was so calm and mature about it. (finally!) I thought he was going to be a bad person but i loved how it worked out between them in the end. as the story moved on, it was clear that these two weren't in love or compatible at all however i loved how macy and sean both sat down and talked responsibly. I also really liked how they both understood each other, and sean said that if ashley came back into his life he would also be hesitant. I love that they understood and didn't hold grudges between them. It made me really sad to see him go but i like it better that they both agreed to have each other as a friend. i'm really happy with the way it turned out.
"stay my friend?" i ask. "Yeah," he whispers, pressing his face to my neck. "Yeah, I need that, too." yay! I love sean's character.
Elliot's endingˎˊ˗ I know this might be controversial but this is my opinion. (view spoiler)[ !! ok so in the story we found out elliot cheated on macy by having sex with emma. except he doesn't remember having sex with emma at all, he thinks he had sex with macy. (he didn't) here's my take on this, Elliot was somewhat r@ped or sexually @ssulted. he was drunk when he called macy, and a few minutes later he 'fucks' Emma. When he wakes up, he doesn't know he had sex with emma until told. I definitely think this was hard for both people. Macy definitely was shocked and heartbroken, seeing them both naked, her mind went to the obvious conclusion as she should. I think it made sense that she didn't give him a chance to explain until years later. Elliot also must have been sad to find out what happened and why macy left. he didn't even know what happened or where macy went in the morning. + emma, knows better. because he was drunk, she pursued him. (if the roles were reversed, it wouldn't be good.) I think they both struggled after that moment and it made sense that they both fell out. Especially with macy's following events after that moment I understood why she was hesitant. (hide spoiler)]
____________ Elliot + Macy
i loved the ending and how she also reunited with his family. they were so welcoming, I love his mom and sister. I liked how everything fit and they moved in together and had a bookshelf in their home. I love macy, she's such a sweet responsible character. I love elliot. truly, he's so sweet and understanding. when he listened to her story and threw up because of it! i love love love how he calls her 'honey' that's so sweet! 'macy, honey' this book made my heart melt, and i loved this book so much. it was so so sweet and i will definitely be reading more of christina lauren's books.
