Everything exhibits such symbolism and power it can even give you a slight chill. The facial expressions, the angles from the fights to just regular conversation, the characters, the depth, the backgrounds. More beautiful than words can explain.

First thoughts on the novel: I LOVE ME SOME SHEN ZECHUAN AND SOME XIAO CHIYE! If I could get just about every sarcastic comment and flirty reply between the two ingrained on my frontal lobe I¡¯d sell my whole child for that (im jk I think)! I also really love the political aspect of this novel. It¡¯s rich and juicy with cultural elements and so much internal tension, suffering, conflicts that will go unsolved for generations¡ you name it!
