So now, I have to purchase another edition with Part Two.
There are only 2 books in my entire life that made me shed actual tears. In Order to Live and THIS!
THAT ENDING IS SO EXCRUCIATINGLY PAINFUL.

The fact that I knew beforehand how this story would end (thanks to my Greek mythology class in high school) did not prepare me completely on how tragic that ending's gonna be. IT HURTS SO FUCKING MUCH. Achilles and Patroclus' love for each other was so raw and beautiful. They deserve the entire universe.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I’m gonna sue Leigh Bardugo for breaking the hearts of millions and being the reason why our lives will never be the same again.
“No mourners, no funerals. Another way of saying good luck. But it was something more. A dark wink to the fact that there would be no expensive burials for people like them, no marble markers to remember their names, no wreaths of myrtle and rose.
Honestly, this is the most well-crafted and perfectly woven book I’ve ever read. EVER. From the brilliantly gripping plot to the most loveable and diverse characters, and amazing world building. This book is just out-of-this-world awesome!
The plot:
If I were to compare Crooked Kingdom's plot to Six of Crows, I think the latter was more coherent and one-directional. There was an end goal to it, unlike Crooked Kingdom in which you weren't sure about the big picture of the story. There were many things going on, BUT IT WASN'T A BAD THING. I think it made the book more unpredictable and dynamic. The plot was totally gripping and intense! I wasn't sure how many times I've squealed and held my breath. It’s so action-packed but at the same time, it also focused on developing the characters and their relationships further. And the transition between the past and the present was so perfectly executed! Leigh Bardugo, you’re my queen and religion.
However, if I were to criticise one thing, it's gonna be that giant plot twist at the end. (view spoiler)[Matthias' death was probably one of the most sudden and unreasonable things that has ever happened in this book. Until now, I'm still bewildered by the fact that HE DIED! I've read it so many times, trying to understand the reason behind his death but the only thing I could think of was that Leigh Bardugo wanted the story to be more 'realistic' in some sense. After all, it seemed unrealistic that everyone survived. SO BAAAM, let's make Matthias die because what's better than having some young blonde duskelle (who just got recruited 6 months ago btw and didn't know Matthias personally) killed him. *claps hands* (hide spoiler)] But other than that, I looooove everything!
The Characters:
This is probably the only multi-POV book that I've read in which I actually enjoyed and looked forward to reading each POVs. I don't know how Leigh Bardugo managed to craft 6 awesome characters with different backgrounds, personalities and faults, but she somehow managed to do it. And she did it flawlessly. The relationships between each and every one of them were so adorable and precious. I just wanna hug everyone and put Wylan in my pocket. I definitely enjoyed every silly banters and heart-breaking conversations they had. Thank you Leigh Bardugo for giving us Kaz, Inej, Nina, Matthias, Jesper and Wylan.
And as much as I want to write all my favourite quotes/moments in this book, that would mean quoting basically more than half of this book. So, instead here are my favourite scenes in this book.
TOP 3 favourite scenes in spoiler-free words
3rd: Kaz. Inej. Bathroom. Towel (Y'all, this broke me. Every KANEJ moments breaks me.) 2nd: Kaz. The Slat. Dregs. Haskell. 1st: Piano. Kuwei. Jesper. Wylan (I DIED! MOST EPIC SCENE.)
I'm glad this series does not end here because if that's meant to be a happy ending, I think I died more than a little. That ending was conclusive yet totally heart-breaking and I now have this void in my heart that can only be filled by the Dregs.
Excuse me, ŷ...but I need 6 awesome stars for Kaz, Inej, Nina, Matthias, Jesper and Wylan. Please work out on adding an additional star ratingExcuse me, ŷ...but I need 6 awesome stars for Kaz, Inej, Nina, Matthias, Jesper and Wylan. Please work out on adding an additional star rating solely for this matter, thank you!
This book is phenomenal! You guys told me how fucking awesome this book is but I wasn't informed that this book is also capable of playing with my emotions and breaking my heart!
Inej and Kaz totally break me. Their love is so bittersweet. I just wanna wrap myself with a blanket and cry for days. Then there's Nina and Matthias. This push and pull relationship is so frustrating yet I love them so much it breaks me too! And Jesper and Wylan's relationship is so precious! Y'all, I DIED. This is literally my soul typing. Next time, please warn me of all the good and bad so I can fully prepare myself.
Now, I'm off to Crooked Kingdom. But first, let's take a minute of silence to pray for my soul so I can anticipate any unprecedented events that may cause me to lose my sanity and break my already broken heart.
Your silence and prayers are deeply appreciated....more
