Everything happened so quickly and the almost every plot point happened after a time jump or was talked about in conversation after it already happened rather than being shown on the page. There was no building of a relationship either and both characters felt entirely one dimensional.

Bro this was almost a no read because of the cover but I’m so glad I decided to give it a shot because WOW. It’s so incredibly dark and there are a lot of very problematic characters and things going on, but I honestly loved every second of it. It gives very much game of thrones vibes but with elves and a unique bit of magic. The characters are lovable even when they’re awful, and you really root for them even while doing heinous things. Beautiful stuff, highly recommend.
