Such a cute and sweet story of second chances and finding true happiness. Jessie has her dream job as the director of her beloved childhood camp. When it is announced that this will be the camp's last summer, Jessie invites former campers for an adult sleepaway camp.
This includes her former best friend, Hillary, who abandoned Jessie in their dream of becoming camp counselors together. Hillary and Jessie, both at a crossroads in their professional and romantic lives, try to navigate forgiving one another while coming to terms what really makes them happy in their lives. All while trying to save their beloved camp.
I'm quickly becoming a fan of Alison and Bradeigh's stories - this one was super sweet with lovable and well rounded characters.
The writing was beautiful and the pacing was good - while initially I was pulled into the story with the adult camp premise, it didn't hold my interest throughout. Which could just be because I couldn't relate.
I wish I was a summer camp kid. I definitely think it would have been something I would have loved growing up, but I wasn't lol and so I don't think I could connect with the unwavering love for camp.
Super fun - worth a read for the summer and it's a definite plus that the audio was fantastic.
So, I really loved this one and I'm sure tons of people will - it feels literally impossible to not fall in love with ˗ˏˋ ˎˊ˗ 3.75 Stars . ˗ˏˋ ˎˊ˗
So, I really loved this one and I'm sure tons of people will - it feels literally impossible to not fall in love with both Bennet and Henry and the New York City magic that was poured into these pages.
Bennet Taylor is stuck in grief after the death of her first love. Hoping to rediscover herself and honor Sam’s dreams, she moves to New York—but all it brings is a sense of rejection and lingering depression.
In an effort to improve her mental health, her friend encourages her to go on a date with a guy from a dating app. But the closer Bennet gets to the meeting place, the stronger the panic becomes. She runs into a restaurant across the street—unaware that she’ll run into him there later.
Right from the first page I was pulled into the story - Bennet just popped off the page for me and I could really relate to all the mishaps she had going on so early on it the story lol. I myself have lost a significant other and could totally relate to how she was feeling and how her life seemed so unmanageable and depressing.
Once Bennet and Henry start hanging out though to do their little Passion Project oh my god the chemistry and the banter just came to life. I found myself laughing so often and to the point where I was tearing up. I absolutely loved everything between these two.
The writing is beautiful and I thought the pace was great as well.. The author really brings the heart of NYC to you in these pages with such vivid detail. If you love the city and need a quick mental get away, London Sperry will get you there in this novel, lol I promise you that. I was truly transported into the concrete jungle of cement with this one.
After around the 60% mark there's a couple of conflicts that I didn't really like or think were necessary. This really would have been a 5-star book for me but I'm team Henry forever and I just didn't like the way he was treated.
I don't often round my ratings up, but for this one I will after chatting with my reading partner I've decided not to round. I was just too disappointed with Bennet's behavior in the last few chapters.
(cont from the edit) ...because I did love the majority of the book, but I loathed two scenarios. The last conflict didn't leave me with the warmest or fuzziest feeling and instead of loving Bennet as I did for the entire book up until this point, I started to see her in a less favorable light.
This is an absolutely beautiful exploration of love after loss and healing during the grieving process. The romance is sweet and fun, it's tender and heartwarming and I just know these two will steal many readers hearts.
If you loved Promise Me Sunshine - I think you'll love this one. Highly recommend.
I actually really loved this one! Don’t let the 3 stars fool you. I just had a couple of issues... ❤️

First this cover is so gorgeous and that's what initally drew me to the book. And the story was really great too!
We follow our FMC, Madison who's living in California with her parents who also happy to be fairly wealthy. She's kinda just been going through the motions of life- During a memorial for her grandmother who recently passed - that her boyfriend of 3 years was supposed to attend with her, she goes looking for him and finds him cheating on her with another girl.
Fed up and about over it all she walks out the door and closes it behind her and doesn't even say a word. Madison grabs the opportunity to leave her house in the middle of the night with her aunt Emma and head back to her grandmother's house with her and just decompress for a while.
Lost Hollow. Ugh. I love this place. It really gives all the twilight vibes.
Listen - anywhere in the PNW is Forks to me mm kay. LOL. I loved the small town mountain/forest vibes.
The story is told in dual POV alternating between our FMC, Madison and our MMC, Ezra - it's probably closer to around 2/3 her POV but that's okay - I loved being able to get Ezra's take on what was going on.
The romance between these two was pretty good. I really am a sucker for a 'college/late HS' romance and even a bully romance I enjoy - this gave both. It wasn't overly bully the MMC came across more as a grump to me than a bully, although some of his comments like trying to embarrass her were a little cringe - like referencing her sucking his dick loudly at her work place. Okay cave man.
I did have a few issues with the writing - on occasion it would really feel like this was written by a dude lol?
A few scenes and phrases just didn't impress me or felt out of place.
˚₊ ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Aunt Emma banging a rando on the park bench while her niece has a front row seat with all the town kids? Weird and didn't really fit the character?
˚₊ ͟͟͞͞➳❥ One of the female characters describes and sums up the FMC as 'hot, blonde and with huge tits' really? I've never described a woman like that as a woman. Get this character a thesaurus.
˚₊ ͟͟͞͞➳❥ There's quite a bit of spice in this one which worked for the characters and the story - it made all the sense in the world for me for them to be getting it on as much as they did, but the first sexual encounter between the two was sudden and out of no where. One min they're on a boat and the next he's randomly fondling her breasts. Little jarring.
Overall I loved the story and was hooked from the beginning. I wish there was a little more to the end. Things seemed to be wrapped up very quickly and suddenly.
I do recommend if you love the PNW small town vibes (think Forks!) an angsty romance with a good dose of spice!
Alright - this is the third and final book in the Moments of Boston series and Marni blessed us finally with a happy ever after ending lol.
T3.5 stars
Alright - this is the third and final book in the Moments of Boston series and Marni blessed us finally with a happy ever after ending lol.
This one definitely has a darker theme than the first and second book throughout. Our MMC is a detective working on a case dealing with missing girls in the area.
The FMC is performer on stage - and as with the rest of the series they're connected to the characters from the previous books in some way.
Dual POV and alternating between past and present which makes the pace move pretty quickly in this one as in the others. This last book is the longest one in the series at just over a little over 300 pages.
The vibes are immaculate, the writing is gorgeous and the spice is spicing. The MMC's again, I'll just say it again and again. They are so swoony and ugh so sexy.
The audios are also fantastic if you're an audio girlie offering dual narration and quality productions. Highly recommend.
