She felt way too relatable at times, her descriptions of the relationships with reva and trevor felt so authentic and honest. I was obsessed with the fully uncensored thoughts and the fact that the narrator was nameless made it so easy to feel what she felt. The only thing I didn’t like was the ending, it was rushed and invalidated basically the whole book. Like be for real, she had a bad trip after the last pill of infermiterol and suddenly her depression and a whole previously established personality disappeared? Besides that I adored every single part of it. Maybe it’s my nihilistic, cynical teenage mindset and my views will change in a few years but for now it’s one of my favourites...more
eve is just extraordinary. The way she writes and narrates her works is absolutely captivating. She’s given us 9 beautiful stories varying from funny eve is just extraordinary. She’s given us 9 beautiful stories varying from funny to complete heartbreaking (like “free Tibet�), each one having some sort of deeper meaning. Most of them were relatable in one aspect or another (some even too relatable like “jealousy�) because they touched on feelings many of us have to face on a daily basis. Eve was incredibly honest and uncensored in her description of the events, it made the book enthralling. Her narration was so vivid, sometimes I swear I could feel the rays of the Californian sun emanating through the book. It might have something to do with the fact they’re, as the author describes them, “autobiographical sketches� which makes the whole thing even more interesting. I think this book came to me at the perfect time. Eve describes maturing and the descent into adulthood while showing you can simultaneously still be just a girl, wild and having fun. To sum it up, I think nothing catches the essence of the book than another users review of “black swans�:
