Dream Of The Wolf, by Bradley McKenzie, is a fast-paced murder mystery that I thoroughly enjoyed. Set in Jackson Hole, Wyoming young women are being murdered. Special Agent Lane Brouwer and Sheriff Hargrove work together to find the killer before he strikes again. The story flows with many twists and turns, at times confusing, to a satisfying conclusion. Well-developed and interesting characters have me hoping the author will continue with the story.

Their language is forbidden, their names are changed to Jeremiah and Gabriel, and both boys are abused by priests.
As young men, estranged from their own people and alienated from the culture imposed upon them, the Okimasis brothers fight to survive. Wherever they go, the Fur Queen--a wily, shape-shifting trickster--watches over them with a protective eye. For Jeremiah and Gabriel are destined to be artists. Through music and dance they soar."
Probably my least favourite book in this genre mainly due to the transition from real life and dream like sequences I found to be confusing. That being said I really cared about the two brothers and their lives.
I thought the abuse was handled delicately if you can even use delicate as a word to describe abuse. It could have been so much worse.
Weaving Aboriginal traditions into the story worked and were very interesting even if I had to read passages multiple times before fully understanding and then I was able to resume reading. I thought the final scenes were the perfect ending to the story....more

Author Jeffrey Toobin satisfied my many questions with answers, many being quite surprising. Patty Hearst refused to be interviewed by Toobin yet he gives us a well-researched, comprehensive account of her story. This really was a wild saga! Toobin's storytelling leaves the reader to wonder whether or not Patty was an actual "urban guerrilla" or a brain-washed rich young woman just trying to stay alive. A very interesting and captivating read!

Fifteen years later Frey gives us "Katerina" which had me power reading til the very end. I couldn't get enough of this raw and guttural story of Jay, a young American writer living in 1992 Paris through to Los Angeles in 2017. His dream of writing a best selling novel, his descent into addiction, and the literary scandal that made him famous worldwide is all described in detail throughout. His torrid love affair with Katerina, a stunning model he knew in Paris, was both reckless and impulsive. She was the love of his life. A love he abandoned. Twenty-five years later, with the past behind him, he receives a anonymous message. This sudden surprise leads this story to an incredible ending. The author's intent is to "burn the world down" with his novels and I feel he has done just that. I could read his work over and over again. ...more
