The penultimate book in the Saga of Geralt of Rivia. Another great Spanish translation by José MarÃa Faraldo. I particularly enjoyed this one because Sapkowski takes the narration places it hasn't been yet in the books. At any given chapter you may be reading the same events from the perspective of a different character...sometimes before the fact, sometimes during, and sometimes after, and not always in that order. It's wonderfully executed, though. The majority of this installment follows Ciri and her travails, with surprisingly low focus on Geralt. Geralt actually comes off as very wary and lost in this one. Bonhart is introduced and so far he's an interesting character (bounty hunter).

This can feel like a tough read at times. It's the first Gene Wolfe book I've ever read. The prose itself isn't hard to follow, but it is told in a way that has little concern for whether or not you feel you have adequate background info. To some this might sound like a huge turn-off, which is understandable, but if you can learn to "approach" this material the right way, it's very enjoyable and mysterious. Go into this relaxed and ready to "be ok" with not getting every single detail of what is going on. You will get enough that you understand the general arc of Severian's journey, but this is not a 600+ page scifi/fantasy "tome" that is going to have a glossary in the back and hold your hand and make sure you get EVERY bit of exposition you need, which in my experience turned out to be a good thing.
