A significant amount of the advice requires disposal income you can throw at it - travel, live other places, have two work spaces, buy things to surround yourself with that inspire you. And then there’s the advice to allow yourself to be bored, just stair at the wall. Well that’s nice if you have that time.
I don’t want to pick on the author - the advice is helpful - it’s just that for a large amount of people, they couldn’t actually do these things.
It’s advice you can get elsewhere from a more specific, robust source tailored to your creative outlet. ...more

Sure, there’s lots of engineering and various forms of science, but what about simple economics and human behavior? If we had two years to build ships and save humanity, we’d be fucked. Seriously. You think Trump is leading this? Whatever clusterfuck England has at the time? Is Putin and Xi and Kim Jong-un going along with the rules? No. And people wouldn’t keep buying things because money has no meaning once they know they’re all dying soon anyways. It’s completely ridiculous.
His characters are thin cardboard cutouts of human beings, so in that world maybe everything works out as he planned.
Also... Ejaculating into his girlfriend while simultaneously fantasizing about teaching calculus really made me cringe. ...more
