This book felt too excruciatingly long. To be entirely honest, the story and setting aren't this book's problem for me. It's both Brie and how romance is the main plot here. I started reading this with the expectations of a fantasy with romance on the side, not the opposite. So you can imagine the disappointment I felt every time the author would favor a sexual tension moment instead of focusing on furthering the plot. Like I WISH I wouldn't get reminded every time how 'gorgeous' and 'stunning' these faes are (aka only Sebastian and Finn) by the sole person who loathes them with a passion.
As for Brie herself, she's so full of contradictions. you can't make sense of what she's thinking which is why the plot twists worked. Not to mention that time she and Sebastian started narrating what happened between King Oberon and the Seelie Queen out of nowhere. I get that some stuff Sebastian can't say because of the curse or whatever but the question is how did she know?? Bakken did not tell her any of that ...more

God, I can’t express the roller coaster I went through today binging half the book in one day. I still can’t believe I finished this series so fast when I was putting it off for 2 years just so that the story wouldn’t be done yet at least for me.
But really, I can’t thank holly black for making such an amazing series with its own characters that are well fleshed out, but not predictable.
I just wanted to voice my disappointment with the last arc with the war and everything. It just feels.. bland. It wasn’t anything near a war at all. And everything that happened in almost a 100 pages was within span of 2 to 3 days.
Also, I get that after everything was done and it’s time to pass judgement you feel like just forgiving people who wronged you for the sake of your time together and stuff but that’s NOT what I expected from Jude of all people. All the anger, hatred, and betrayals she experienced for years just melted away in a single day? It just feels so forced.
This didn’t take away from my enjoyment of this book, however! I only deducted a star because of it. But at least everyone was able to be happy in the end. Jude and Cardan will finally get the much needed love they needed when they were children. ...more
