For me these fluffy books go beyond a cute read chick lit book, and they really draw you into the story especially the character of Angela, and that is why they are such a quick read. This one though, was bloody hilarious from start to finish, from Cici the Spencer from Hell getting her luggage and her Louboutins blown up, to a gloves off all out cat fight on a stage in front of thousands of screaming fans!!! AND everything in between. I Heart Angela! And this series! I am hoping to read more books and finish the series, I am really enjoying this author as she is completely kick ass at making me LOL while reading. I like that she has a rock star boyfriend, recently I am imagining it is me and that it is RM/Namjoon from BTS who is mah boyfriend.... dose dimples doe... n he so tall... ok... Add in the show stopping cover art of a beautiful titian woman with hair to her feet, and the fact that the author is beasties with Lauren Oliver, and I gave the story and the package complete four stars. I liked the story and characters well enough to read the sequel. Read my activity for more. 😻...more

It goes without saying that it is a five star read, btw, and I was glad of the length, really, cuz when you crawl inta a SK novel for reals, it is like a warm fluffy bed in the winter and you don't ever want to get out. Kinda like now, it is winter, it was my bed, I didn't want out, that's why it took so long for me to read and finish it. I didn't want to leave. And. Tryna read the big thick heavy books this year, starting with this one. So. A man, named Edgar, who heads the company, lost his arm in a freak, on the job construction accident, has taken his convalescence to Florida, more specifically on an island called Duma Key. He also suffered injuries to his leg and head, and because of this has had marriage problems as well. Upon arriving in Florida, he has been inspired to take up sketching and painting in the house he is staying at, he has affectionately nicknamed Big Pink because of its color. Edgar has met Wireman, he is a caretaker of the island and for Elizabeth Eastlake, a sick old woman who owns Duma Key. They eventually become fast friends, and extremely close. Additionally, all three share head injuries in their past, which seems to leave them sensitive to Duma's odd effects. So all in: Wireman used to, be able to read minds; Elizabeth could, create art, use art to create real items and events, have a doll speak to her; Edgar could, create art, use art to foresee a and portend, use art to heal, and to create real events. It all presents itself as a lot of powerful mojo... 🔮 Edgar discovers that his abilities seem to influence the physical environment when it appears that he has ended a local captured serial killer's life. He chooses to try his newfound power for good, and he removes a bullet and restores eyesight to his friend Wireman by seeming to be "painting him well". As a result of staying at Duma Key, Edgar experiences psychic powers. He also thinks it has something to do with his missing arm, and he uses his art as an outlet of sorts. He has been in contact with a gallery, and they like his work. Well, they in fact GUSH, and can't wait for him to show his work there! However, Duma doesn't do well by daughters apparently, according to Elizabeth. She counsels him to not bring his daughters here, because of what has happened in the past to her own sisters. This is when the book is starting to get SK creepy!!! I am starting to read it like a madwoman, staying up at nights with my ten pounder book, haha!! The best ever!! Ah good times! Ed shows his Duma inspired art at a gallery to great success and Elizabeth insists on showing even though she has been very ill lately. He has invited all his family and friends, and has sold every piece. Elizabeth dramatically identifies her sisters in some of them, and then she has a seizure, and has to be hospitalized and regrettably she dies later in surgery. She had left instructions to look for her prized basket, and they retrieve her red picnic basket in the attic, and it is revealed to be full of Elizabeth's drawings. She was an artistic prodigy following a blow to her head while still a tot, unknowing that Duma helped create her art into reality. Edgar is uncovering more after her death, and there are manifestations. There are ghosts and ghouls of her dead sisters crawling from the waters along with others who have died at Duma Key, and the trio are finding they are real and they have to fend them off. The goo and gore is here! Yeah! The cause of all is a supernatural being, one that Elizabeth had named Perse, that called to her while at Duma, a being that could be as old as humanity itself. It is now reaching out her influence through Edgar's art, and has now killed Tom, Kamen, and even his beloved daughter, Ilse. Perse is exerting her incredibly far reaching powers over Edgar, and he gathers his friends to try to deal with this powerful supernatural force, only armed with one clue, drown her to sleep... Wireman, Jack, and Ed have managed to penetrate the jungle overgrowth that is the south side of Duma and the original Eastlake mansion. They encounter all manner of fantastic creatures from young six year old Elizabeth's imagination, and a dangerous alligator. While investigating the ruins, they find Noveen, her old doll, who controls Jack, full of SK written dialogue, YES, and they learn more of Perse's horrors. The frightened but resolute trio find Perse's figurine in a cistern after discerning all of the clues, and they have also worked out that they need to submerge it fully in fresh water to drown her to sleep. It is the only way to defeat her in any way. They fight their way to success. Sadly, at the end of the story Wireman goes off to live in Mexico, alone, where he dies of a heart attack two months later. Sad. I wish there was a better ending than this one, they battled and over came so much. For all the King haters out there who say that The King doesn't have it no more, he's just a hack, you just don't know. I think ya just don't have the cojones to read an 600 page book, that's all...! Mic Drop...! 😈...more

I really love that it is representing Stacy as a young, psychic Wiccan, which really is no more than a natural talent for herbs, healing and respect for the earth. In this book we find Stacey and her closest friends from her boarding school, like Drea and Amber, and their boyfriends, all looking forward to a perfect vacation before they start college. Friends, a cottage on the beach, and no parents... It all goes perfectly until her nightmares return, this time about Clara, a girl in another cottage, and it's about her death. Stacey can't figure out her dreams in time, and with horrific consequences; a tragedy that will forever haunt her....more
