TI read the story version of this last year and loved it and the graphic novel is just as good and a very effective way to tell this important story. This book should be in all Schools around the world so children will think before they act in the decisions they make. What family members have done may not be the right way of doing thing and it takes one person to change the way things are done, this story is about anger, killings and 'The rules' but are the rules right surely there is a better way. Will's brother is shot down so he gets the gun out of the draw and catches the elevator down to the ground so he can get his revenge because he 'knows' who did it. In the lift at each level someone gets on that will challenge his thinking because they have been there done that. Love the ending always will. The graphics in this book are so good and bring the story to life in away that suits the story....more

I am nervous about reading her books because I am quite critical so my husband reads her stories is the early stages and I stay away. This is her second self published book The first one I would have given a 2 stars I felt it didn't flow very well. This one I liked very much. In this story Kate White an average teen with a bit of an attitude, her father has walked out and her brother has cancer and she is badly bullied by a girl at School so Kate is struggling with everyday life. She is lonely, feels abandoned and angry at God for all that has happened. Then one day Yesua starts coming to School and he straight away starts encouraging Kate and tries to help her when he can. Slowly things start to change in her life for the better. I wasn't expecting to love this story but I did, I really liked some of the sentences and I was smiling a lot of the time while reading it. It was encouraging and heart felt with lots of good scripture verses in it to back up the story. Well done Grace I am so proud of you. ...more

It’s interesting to see what others feel about a book and have a good chat about it. I did like this story. It does show the expectations we have of others and are disappointed when that need isn’t met but if you don’t communicate that with the other person you can’t expect them to know what you need. I think this story is about a lack of communication between the characters so their was a lot of miss understanding. ...more

This story is important because it teaches us to accept people for who they are, the colour of our skin should not have any affect on how we treat a person, God gave us our skin and He loves us all. I love atticus, the way he treats his children with kindness and teaching them to see people and to respect their choices to look past their grumpiness, their colour and their fears and always show them kindness. This stuck out to me in reading this format. Just wonderful and so important. My dream would be that we would all love and respect all people, no person is greater than another we are all on this journey called life. Help not hate. ...more
I did like this but didn’t love it. I am doing the spring time bingo challenge for Kiwis and this was my less than 200 pages. It did take longer than I did like this but didn’t love it. I am doing the spring time bingo challenge for Kiwis and this was my less than 200 pages. It did take longer than I thought. This story- diary is by a man in the late 1800’s it shows his good days, his boring days, his dumb jokes and his adventures with friends. He was a hard working man, who loved his wife and they got on well together she even laughed at his jokes. He was a bit accident prone. I did notice they were a lot more polite than we are now and when the son needed a job his father was the one to write to business to get the job for him. When I read classics I always think how would they feel if they landed in 2020’s they wouldn’t cope with now as we wouldn’t cope if we could go back in time....more
At the moment it is taking me a few days to settle into a book, this book was no different, but once I settled into the story I did enjoy it. Eva and AAt the moment it is taking me a few days to settle into a book, this book was no different, but once I settled into the story I did enjoy it. Eva and Angela are sister-in laws, who's husbands died 18 months ago and they are both in different ways struggling to move on in their lives. Eva in a job with workmates who wish she wasn't there. Angela has three children, she is angry a lot of the time and struggling in her relationship with her oldest daughter. Both have lost their passion for life. A phone call is about to change all that their husbands had signed up for an ultra-marathon in New Zealand. In the end the woman decide to sign up in the memory of their husbands. This will take a lot of training both physically and emotionally and also they are going to have to learn to like each other. One of the women are very well off and the other woman gives up her job and they take the lovely mother-in-law and the children to NZ a few months before the big race - challenge. they will both struggle in all sorts of ways but through it they will learn to love themselves, each other and those around them. This story is sprinkled with Faith in God. Sherry is Mother-in-law knows grief she lost her husband and both sons, and as I read about her I thought about Naomi and Ruth in the old Testament in the Bible and I was on the right track because I turned the page and read this: '...In many ways I feel like Naomi with two Ruths...'. I liked Sherry, her kindness, her willingness to be their for the grandchildren and 'daughters' and I loved her Faith in God and how she would direct the conversations with God at the center in the best of ways. This was such a good story and it's setting in New York which I loved visiting and of course NZ where I live. This book was worth a read.

This is a story set in France during world war 2, it is told from a Childs point of view, her name is Sara. It shows her lovely life before the war then when the Germans turn up at the School to take the Jews children Sara hides and gets help from an unexpected person and his whole family help hid her for well over a year. This isn't a story about anger and hatred but of Courage and kindness.
"evil will only be stopped when good people decide to put an end to it".
At the back of the book is a Glossary for some of the terms and places in the book so this is a good book for an older child so they can learn about the war, which is important if we are to change things for the better. We need to all stand up and be counted when it comes to injustices around the world. Start by showing kindness to the people we meet along the way each day. Start with Hello. ...more
