I have the first edition of this book and my first complaint is that the pattern shown on the cover isn't included in the patterns in the book. WTH?! I see now that the book has a different cover so perhaps I wasn't the only person ticked off by this HUGE error.
That aside, however, this method intrigues me and after several failed attempts over the past three years I think I may have actually figured it out. Maybe. :) I'm still working on the legs of my first pair so we'll see as time goes by how successful this is. I also hear that those of us "lucky" enough to have the first edition have a great deal of erratta to deal with so I suppose before I get too far I should make sure that pattern I'm working on is written correctly. (I have already found one error in the very beginning where it's showing the reader how to do the technique!). I figure that even if I don't like the 2 at-a-time method i can always just use the patterns in the book and do them one at a time. :)...more

The knitting content was really worked in well which was nice to see, but some of the plot just bugged me. Other parts were so realistic that they hit a little too close to home though. A good read (pun not intended hehe..) that I think even non knitters would enjoy....more

The knitting content isn't huge, but so what, it's a novel and it's not about knitting, it's about three women who are friends and they all knit. :) I liked it. The circle of friends in the book is as diverse as a real knitting circle which I thought was great. I also enjoyed the content about Autism, Behavior Modification, and Scientific Experiments. Good stuff, I tell ya. It's chick lit with a conscience. :)
I've seen a lot of people complain that there's not enough knitting content in this book but what I think is this... if you want a book with a bunch of knitting content in it, read a pattern book. It's not like when I go to knit with friends that alllll we talk about is knitting, so why should a book about knitting friends be allll about knitting? :) I rest my case. ...more

Their blog is fantastic and this book just continues in the fantasticalness. ;o) The book is beautifully photographed, the projects are mostly easy ones that knitters of any level can complete with success, and what little there is to read outside of the patterns is great just like the MD blog is. And I LOVE a book that is mostly dedicated to projects made with yarn that can be bought for less than $2 a ball in most stores. :)
My only problem with the book is that it's large so it's not exactly travel-friendly. But, the projects are usually pretty mindless and easy to copy the patterns onto something smaller and portable for KIP. ...more
