As much as I dislike current overuse of the word, they need to curate. I suppose the idea is to be a compendium such as Joy of Cooking or Mastering the Art of French Cooking, but it’s here, there and everywhere. As I consider keeping it in my collection, I must honestly say I will never look at again. Say I have a pile of leeks to use up (okay, that’s never happened) I’ll check NYT or Epicurious site, even AI. Better yet, Sheri Castle’s book designed around vegetables. This is just a mish-mash. Like my other collections of Mary Oliver poems, this volume will be tucked into my bedside bookshelf for early morning samplings or evening treats.
Oliver’s poetry is overtly simple, covertly complex. It might be easy to skate over the complexities because her style is limpid, pellucid, yet in doing so one does a disservice to the poet and oneself. ...more

I have been listening to books while I do needlework and such. However, I am not a great book listener. Readers often get on my nerves plus I gradually stop listening, then I’m lost. I rarely feel eager to get back to the book. However, I did look forward to getting back to this.
The characters were well drawn though Amelia got on my nerves. More could have been made of the setting. Honestly, it could have been anywhere. No feel of Cambridge to it. ...more
