I like all of these guys and enjoy their banter as the most improbable group of sleuths find themselves on the case, more because they want to than because they really need to be involved. ;) This time around Javier has been arrested and the guys aren't going to let their favorite cop go down for something they're sure he could have nothing to do with.
Noah's not the one running into dead bodies this time around, but he and the guys can't resist a good case. Living in LA it was interesting to read this particular book and realize that it's set during the Northridge quake. While I didn't live here then, it is still a part of the public vernacular. For once the guys don't know who to trust as Javier isn't there to turn to and it's clear that the police are corrupt and their the reason Javier is being set up.
I enjoy this series. I'm always looking for the miniscule steps forward that Noah and Javier take towards each other. Words were actually exchanged this time, interest has been admitted...but things just aren't that easy for these two ever. I'm ready for more....more
Absolutely loving this series so far. Ok so I just love Grace. His brain takes him down all the crazy and I just got him. He can't sit still and danceAbsolutely loving this series so far. Ok so I just love Grace. His brain takes him down all the crazy and I just got him. He can't sit still and dance is his one "legal" outlet. Stealing is the way Grace stays connected to things he cares about, but also keeps his brain from overloading in boredom. Hunter has been fascinated by Grace since he met him. He's determined to not let his new group suffer the same fate as his last partner. And as his attachment to Grace grows so does his determination to be smarter and not let them all fall into any sort of bad situation.
Grace's dance master is caught up in something he never should have been and Grace is determined to get him out of it. With the help of the rest of the gang they'll have to be able to figure out exactly who is using his dance master as a mule and just what it is that he is delivering. They've got a plan and it will take all of them working together to keep ahead of the bad guys.
I love this group. They're so entertaining and have such a great group dynamic. There isn't a character amongst them that I'm annoyed with. I just want to know more. I felt for Grace in this story. He's got so much in his past and this is bringing everything back up for him. His abandonment issues will really be tested especially when his one rock in all the world is struggling with something outside of their control. Together they can figure things out though and the challenges really strengthen Grace's belief in Hunter as he sticks by him no matter how Grace's instincts having him reacting.

He's been isolated at his ranger station for years, sure it's by choice, but he really doesn't know how to interact with people anymore. Someone like Owen Han is completely outside of Quill's frame of reference. There's no way he'll make it through an Alaskan winter, no matter how committed he thinks he is to staying. Owen's been through so much in overcoming his cancer, now he's determined to tackle all the things he couldn't do while he was sick. An Alaskan winter is tops on that list. Being able to volunteer with the ranger stations seems perfect. A hot ranger as a cohabitant, yes please.
These two were such opposites, and yet they worked so well together. I loved seeing Owen upset Quill's equilibrium. He cracked Quill's tough shell and helped him to really start to learn how to have fun. The Alaskan winter makes for close quarters, but the things they had to tackle only forced them closer together instead of letting Quill keep his distance like he wanted.
I enjoyed this whole series. I loved the backdrop of Alaska. The descriptions of the landscape and the world were just beautiful....more

I kept waiting for the plane crash as you knew it was coming. Rueben and Toby did work as a couple despite the age difference. Toby's been responsible for his family for a long time and it's made him have to be the mature one. With Rueben he can let go of some of that responsibility and Rueben has been so focused on work for so long, Toby helps him remember to relax and have some fun.
Rueben's relationship with his daughter was interesting. She's such a brat to start with, but I did like how she adjusted as she started to feel like the time with her father was real and stable. Reuben had to learn how to interact with her again and Toby was a bridge along with his sister.
I liked this story. I enjoy the Alaskan backdrop of it all....more

Suffice to say Noah's got a bad feelings about things, but he's there to support his mother if this is what will make her happy. But a suitcase of cash showing up and the groom's son-in-law taking a nose dive off the twentieth floor balcony has all the boys deciding the need to figure out exactly what's going on pronto. Especially when it looks like someone's trying to set Noah's mom up for the murder.
In some ways this story felt a little more absurd than the previous book as Noah and his friends are out of their element and in Las Vegas instead of back home in LA. But still it was entertaining and I enjoy watching them run around trying to figure out all the details. I do hope we get a little more romance in the next story. I know this series is really more about the mysteries and the friendships than about a certain tempting cop, but I want more Javier next time. :)...more

There was something genuinely sweet about the way these two men learned how to communicate with each other. Sometimes being deaf means you see more and sometimes being able to speak means you don't always communicate as well as you'd like. They had their misunderstandings, but they found their way together. The little bit of suspense elements in this one were a bit silly, but they worked to push the guys together.
I liked that this book feels like almost a continuation of the previous book since we're telling Wilson's story and still in Dan and Conner's house. I really enjoyed those two as well and liked how they supported Wilson and soon came to care for Garrett as well.

Ok this was a hard one for me. I love Rhys Ford's writing so much and while I did enjoy the characters and the quality of the writing, this story felt very rushed. It hit the high points, but didn't go into as much detail as I would have liked. I wanted time for Gibson and Zach to really get to know each other and fall for each other. The insta-love in this story only half worked for me. It didn't feel smooth.
I liked the beginning of this story. I loved Ellis as a wolf and his wolfy teasing as well as his sneaky little plan for helping his brother out. The struggles he was dealing with also caught my attention. He was a complicated soul, and while I'm happy he's back in human form by the end of this book I felt like even this was pushed a bit. I wouldn't have minded if he was still a wolf by the end of this story and the next book solved it all. But I get why that was pushed through. I just really hope the next book takes the time to develop Ellis' healing.
Both Gibson and Zach were fine characters, but I never felt like I got a feel for who they were in the world. Neither character was as fleshed out as I feel like Rhys' characters normally are. I feel like I got the bare bones of the characters and the world building. Still I did enjoy the read for the most part. I just was left wanting more. I really hope the next book in the series go for more of a full fledged novel and deeper dive into this world.

Of course we've already had the Racing in the Sun tie-ins and now we're adding in Johnnies. Definitely makes me smile. Of course all the insanity has to kick it up a notch for Jackson and Ellery. They can't have an easy case ever, and well it wouldn't be their first case as an independent outfit without some Jackson death possibilities.
There's a drug ring, some porn stars, and of course some left over military crazies to deal with. But it also brings with it a new friend, and maybe a new partner for Jackson so Ellery can quit worrying quite so much. I enjoyed Henry a lot. I enjoyed this story a lot and I can't wait to see where the series goes in the future. There's a lot of great tie in's already and I love checking back in with Johnnie's boys. Henry's got lots of potential in his love interest in that area. ;)

Loved this book so much! First of all Miki St. John is probably one of my favorite characters. You just plain hurt of him and all of the crap he's been through in his life. Having Kane is nothing more than he deserves. And while of course Kane is all sorts of awesome, he's still not Miki. I adore Miki. I love that this final book is really the completion of Miki's story. There's a lot here that Miki needed to address and deal with. This book really takes him on the path to healing and being all the stronger for it.
So with that being said, yeah this was such a good book. The threat to Miki is out there and Kane's in full on cop mode trying to figure out just who is attempting to kill the love of his life. Of course there's a lot packed into that and it's going to take Miki down a path to discovering more about his past than he ever thought he wanted to know. I felt for Miki and all the turmoil of what he was going through. I'm glad he got to work through it, but man there were some rough mental moments in there. Some of the best moments for me were Miki's relationship with Donal and I loved getting his moment with Brigid as well.
If I had one complaint about this book it's that I didn't get to spend enough time with the rest of Crossroads Gin (ok Damie makes more than a few appearances, but I wanted everyone.). But that's minor in the course of things. I know the other boyos are happy in their relationships, I just like seeing them all together.
My only other complaint is that it's over. I could live with Miki and Kane and crew for ever and never get enough. These guys are so great. Such a fantastic book and amazing series. This will be a re-read many times in years to come.

The bees...oh the bees... Poor Cavalo there's so much going on in his head and who knows how much of it is real. I love the way he communicates with Lucas and Bad Dog even if you're never really sure if it's real or not. He's not even sure if it's real or not. Everything is such a whirlwind of crazy going on. Everything really comes to a head in this story between the Dead Rabbits (and wow they were even more zombie seeming in this story, well if zombies could be led and made to actually do what you wanted them to). The attack on Cottonwood was insane. Patrick is pure evil. And no one should survive.
Yet I still found myself hoping that certain people would make it out and hated it when some of them didn't. For as edgy as the relationship between them was, I really like Cavalo and Lucas. They're messed up and dangerous and nothing about their relationship is sweet, yet they'd die for each other by the end of things. Of course Bad Dog and SIRS are awesome and the ending had me worried there for a bit. Can't wait for more from this series. I struggled to get started here, but that was really because I knew it was going to be dark and my headspace wasn't right for that kind of story. But it still managed to pull me in and just proved how good T.J. Klune's writing is.

The mystery here was also a little on the shorted side. It was really easy to figure out and even the misdirect wasn't really all that successful. And at first Camden thinks he's hit it big, these people wouldn't know a con if it smacked them in the face, they're just ripe to be plucked. Only the sheriff seems even remotely suspicious of him. But man do they all have to be so nice.
Jackson Rhodes was born and bred in Hog Mountain. He cares for the people in the community he serves. No one else may see it but he's sure that Cam is up to something. His attraction to the man is a complication he doesn't need. He's not out in town and coming out for someone like Cam is not in the cards.
This story has just enough suspense from Cam's past to keep it interesting while really being a sweet story of a man being given another chance at life, one he never expected. Cam's slowly being changed by how picturesque and postcard perfect Hog Mountain. He's "me first" attitude just can't stand up to the pressure of truly good human beings caring about him and what happens to him. I liked watching these two circle each other as Cam became the man that deserved his spot in the community and Jackson's life.

I loved Syren's snarky bad guy person that covered up the damaged boy underneath. Inside he's hurting so much and his attraction and subsequent love of Kane is really all that keeps him going at times. He doesn't know how to care for himself as a person and be comfortable in how he is. Kane is damaged as well in his own way. The loss of love is something he's never gotten over, but being drawn to Syren is pulling him out of his self imposed shell.
I loved watching these two figure out their attraction to each other and how to handle it. My only problem comes that when the shit hit the fan Kane screwed up in a way that was totally unacceptable to me. I get where his reaction comes from. But then the book was over before I really got to feel like these two got all their dirty laundry aired and moved past. So this looses as star for tying things up with a bow all too quickly.
Otherwise I quite enjoyed this book. I like my damaged boys and these two are definitely that. There's one particular lost soul in this book that I certainly hope gets their own happily ever after soon. Kane played him a little hard in this one. I hate seeing a good guy get hurt through no real fault of his own.

This story takes the established love between Calvin and Sebastian and makes them deal with some lingering issues. How they feel about each other is never in doubt, but they've been through so much there are insecurities that haven't been completely dealt with. By the end of this story though, there's no way that these two aren't going to be solid forever. I love them! I love how they work together and how much Calvin appreciates Seb's uniqueness. I adored seeing Calvin open up about some of his history as well. It gave Sebastian a new window into understanding his man.
I hate that we won't be with these two any more. I'd be down for an any more mysteries they want to solve. But I'm also really satisfied with how these two have ended up. The killer in this one was a lovely twist and kept things interesting right to the bitter end.

I think it’s partially because we’re seeing Jackson start to heal or at least face the dark sides of himself. Ellery is so awesome in his support and his heart. They're just such a great duo and well all the other characters that get thrown into the crossover of this one were great too. I'm definitely really enjoying this series and am happy that it's going to continue.
All of the crazy that has been surrounding Ellery and Jackson lately comes to a bit of a head in this one. A lot more details are discovered, and of course things go a little off the rails. But I'll accept a few over the top moments for the sake of an entertaining story. Sure some of it's a bit unrealistic, but it still works for me. It's the fun kind of action that keeps you interested rather than the absolutely unbelievable sort that throws you out of a story.
I liked all the couples in this book, I've enjoyed them in the past and I really liked their interactions in this story as well. I'm looking forward to the next book even though the focus looks like it'll be Ernie and Burton rather than Jackson and Ellery.

It's the fun kind of action that keeps you interested rather than the absolutely unbelievable sort that throws you out of a story.
I liked all the couples in this book, I've enjoyed them in the past and I really liked their interactions in this story as well. I'm looking forward to the next book even though the focus looks like it'll be Ernie and Burton rather than Jackson and Ellery....more

Sure, I know some of the basics and what the Tour is, but that's probably about the extent of it. This book actually gave me a greater understanding of the complexities of the sport and made it much more interesting. I liked that there were different goals to be trying to achieve with in the competition and it was all just about winning it all.
Pascal is an older rider for the sport of cycling. On his downswing of his career he's determined to win the one title that's always escaped him and it's the one he's most qualified to win. He's always been known as a mountains specialist not a speedster or sprinter. But he's never been able to win the coveted title of King of the Mountains in the Tour de France. He had it within his grasp the year before when a freak accident caused by getting hit by a car during the final stretch kept the title from his grasp. Now he knows it's his last shot and he's determined to retire with the polka dot jersey.
Laurent has been at the forefront of journalism for his native France for years. His face is recognized around the world. He loves his career and values his friendship with one of his countries premier cyclist greatly. Pascal's wreck the year before was devastating for anyone that knew him and Laurent knows how much support Pascal will have on his quest. He's determined to document his journey and be there right along with his friend.
I enjoyed the slower realization of what these two really felt for each other. Their past relationships had always kept them from realizing the potential they had together and the ending of Laurent's current relationship with this last push at the title for Pascal throws them together in a lovely story. This is a warm hearted story that makes you smile even through the rough stuff. It's a quick easy read, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
