“The world falls away when he’s near. My demons scatter, taking to the shadows when I’m in his arms.
I knew it was going to be intense. I still get a little emotional when I think of Still Beating or Lotus, which I highly recommend you read before you start this book. But there was no way in hell that I was going to ever skip reading this book.
I don’t think it’s surprising that The Stars Are on Our Side is emotional and intense but above it all, it’s healing.
How do I recommend a book without spoilers especially when I love the book? What can I say to convince you to read it?
Will me saying it’s suspenseful, heartbreaking and beautiful, be enough? Will me admitting that my copy of the book is highlighted with little notes so that I can come back to it time and time again, be enough? Will the quotes like
That’s what love is. It’s finding that perfectly perfect person that complements your heart, that brightens your shadows, that sees your broken, mismatched parts and wants to spend the rest of their life piecing them into place. And even if those pieces never fully fit, they love you anyway. They love you more.
or
I’ll take your leftover pieces. I’ll cherish those pieces. And I’ll spend my whole damn life doing everything in my power to make your heart whole again.
convince you enough to immediate get the book?
I think so. I Hope so.
I admit, I am not one for reading books with flashback and the whole “past-present-past but Jennifer Hartmann has written it so beautifully that for once, I found myself actually looking forward to the whole “back and forth scenes.
I loved this book. Tabitha is resilient. Her having to through such a traumatic experience and the process of surviving, living, healing was an emotional journey to read.
Gabe . Honestly? He felt like an angel. So selfless, so patient, so caring, so devoted.
I think I could write an entire essay on this book. It’s powerful, it’s healing, it’s heartbreaking..the list is endless to be honest.
Jennifer, Thank you for giving us Tabitha and Gabe’s story....more
