This was my first time reading a book where the main character is a middle aged woman too, that was really new. I think I finished this within a day, or so, or more so a night and half a day, but anyways, the plot twist was plot twisting. And every single chapter had me guessing on who, when, where, what, why and how?? Cuz seriously, this was such a mystery to me. But man oh man I was incorrect for basically all of my guesses and SO off, it was so intense suddenly too. Like this book definitely takes a while to get through it, after all it's generally pretty thick, but man oh man! is it worth it. I still cant over the plot twist at the end tho, the last like, 10 chapters I kept gasping at everything to the point I wouldn't be surprised if I were out of air and faint lmao. My only complaint was that I felt so awkward at the detailed dirty scenes, like I did NOT need to know you "grabbed his manhood" (EWWWWWWWWWWWWW) but then again, I read like, young adult fiction books for kids right before this books, so, I'm in no place to really complain. Still, it was so good and I loved every single plot twist and discovery, I read until I was dead honestly. ...more
Read this for school, not a fan of old English but hot take yall, Shylock deserved some justice. like when I tell you I was ROOTING for this man, I waRead this for school, not a fan of old English but hot take yall, Shylock deserved some justice. like when I tell you I was ROOTING for this man, I was rooting. I loved all of his dialogue and honestly, the frustration he felt was so real to me, the betrayal he had from his own daughter broke me honestly. It made me contemplate a lot about each of the characters feeling sand inner thoughts and I genuinely really liked this book although it was a bit difficult for me to read (tho ill blame that as a skill issue on my part lol). ...more
Right so, random but, Hudsons real name was such a shock to me I genuinely re-read it a bit so I knew for sure that I wasn't seeing things lol. AnywayRight so, random but, Hudsons real name was such a shock to me I genuinely re-read it a bit so I knew for sure that I wasn't seeing things lol. Anyways, first thoughts on this was like, "omg how does Mandy know so much about Indian culture and how we all talk to one another" and then I realized the co-author, and I felt so stupid lmao- Anyways, I've soooo been in Hudsons case where you want to choose both worlds sometimes but it starts straining your mind and body to the max. The story was so fun and I loved the whole thing about his friends expiring Diwali and Hudson getting so excited about sharing his culture with them. Also loveeeee Nani, would love to become her in future, the most unrealistic thing about this book was the healthy family relations between Hudson and his parents, not the (SPOILER!!!) magical pepper. Anyways, Hudson's ending speech lowkey was soo heartwarming and I loved him explaining his creation and how to related to his friends, family and especially Nani. It hit a spot in my heart I didn't know the book would hit. The book is more 4.5/5 than 4, but yk how good reads is, so yea. ...more
