This New Adult book was a fantastic read, not at all what I was expecting. First of all, it's extremely well-written. A few editing issues here and there, but overall the style was easy to read, even if the POV changes made you wonder just where, exactly, this book was going? The good news is I couldn't put it down, even when I wasn't sure what was going to happen next. I found myself completely immersed in Deanna's world, the way she had fixed her life so she could keep herself away from everyone. And the reason she had locked herself away surprised me too. I expected an agoraphobic maybe, with anxiety issues. Nope, not this girl! She's WAY more feisty (and dark and twisted!) for that.
All in all, a good read, a page-turner, an NA thriller with a smart, dark, but still very likable main character, and a shocking but satisfying ending.
The only thing that bothered me was the relationship between Deanna and Jeremy happened almost like an afterthought or an epilogue. The primary part of the story was Deanna overcoming her hangups (and man, that poor girl had a lot of them, and for good reason - I won't give it away though, no spoilers here!) and working through them on her own. Jeremy "helped" - but there was no rescuing on his part. Not that there should have been. I think Deanna coming to things on her own was the way it should be. But I felt a little let down that all the relationshipy stuff happened sort of after-the-fact, because Deanna and Jeremy had great chemistry!
I can't wait to read more from this author! ...more
I think the gravity in "NA" books must be stronger than in other books. Because these poor guys' pants just keep hanging soooo low on their hips! :)

The sexual tension was incredible. The kissing, and the kissing, and more kissing! It reminded me of that quote from Bull Durham - long slow wet kisses that last three days. In this case - literally!
My only issue was, I was rather dismayed by the portrayal of mental illness/bipolar in this book. And I was a little surprised by all Brooke's, "Would he remember telling me he loved me when he was speedy and/or black?" etc.
If your new BF was bipolar - wouldn't you, ya know, maybe Google it and find out more about it?
I've lived with a bipolar person... I can say with some confidence that most bipolar people aren't like Remy. I guess it bothered me a little, to see bipolar disorder kind of glorified that way. The highs and lows of bipolar aren't so sexy in real life, that's for sure! :)
Other than that, though, I really enjoyed it. Lots of sexual tension, and that last fight scene, wow, that was a killer to read. I could imagine him just standing there, just *taking* it, and I guessed why before we found out why....
I did feel the secondary characters were a little underdeveloped. But we were so busy watching Brooke and Remy kissing, I mean, who really cares?...more
