Who wouldn't want to read a graphic novel about super villains and who doesn't adore sidekicks? You might think that this book sounds too good to be true and that it might disappoint. Worry no more because this book definitely does deliver on all fronts. It has humour, adventure, friendship and lots of super villain destructions! What more can you ask for?
Reading Nimona was a total blast for me. I devoured this book in one sitting even though I wanted to prolong my reading experience a bit longer but I couldn't just sit and watch this beautiful book on my bed, can I? Nimona was super addicting and Noelle Stevenson knows how to hook a reader. Also, the artwork wasn't outstanding or anything but it weirdly appealed to me. I found it irresistibly cute!

Nimona is a story about a super villain, a hero and a sidekick. Notorious villain Ballister Blackheart gets a new sidekick called Nimona who is also a shape shifter. Together they wreak havoc against the Institution and in the process, Blackheart and Nimona unearth a lot of secrets about themselves. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I think this is a great book to relieve people from their book slumps.
This is the kind of book you will think about while reading other books that have a similar premise. You might want some action here and there but not too much and not too dark because you're looking for entertainment and you want to crack up. Nimona will give you what you seek: A good long hour or more filled with magic, mayhem, science and super villainy!

And it is also extremely well written.
You by Caroline Kepnes offers an interesting perspective. We delve deep into the dark thoughts of a stalker. We listen to him obsess over a woman he likes and how he's so meticulous with everything he does around her. We watch him easily gather information about her through social media, watch him watch her and follow her around, make her like him as a person and all other things creep-tastic.
The strangest part about this book is that you will actually like Joe, our stalker. You will root for him at the oddest of times (even when you know he's sick). This shows what an amazing and an excellent writer Kepnes is. By the time you reach the end, you will be left questioning your morals.
This book messes with your brain.
You need to have a recovery plan. Joe will keep talking to you many hours after you're done with this book. Go out and think about unicorns and bright happy things. Don't stalk people.
The artwork isn't stunning or beautiful. It's just so... how do I even describe this kind THE ARTWORK!

I love, love, love such kind of artworks.
The artwork isn't stunning or beautiful. It's just so... how do I even describe this kind of artwork? It's cartoon-ish and reminds me a lot of my childhood.I grew up watching a lot of cartoons and I guess these kind of illustrations just reminded me how fun those shows were and how I still wish they didn't get cancelled! To best describe it, the artwork was really very sweet.
The story too was really sweet. It was also cliched but I didn't really mind it because I wanted to just keep ogling at the artwork and not be bothered much with the story. However, the story wasn't monotonous. It was fun yet a bit too predictable. I kind of knew how the story would progress as soon as I started the book.
There isn't much really to say about the story. The story takes place way off in the future after the events that took place in the movie. Megan is Kim's granddaughter and she is trying to understand about her grand mom's fondness for Edward Scissorhands. Edward, on the other hand, confined in a solitary mansion, finds a broken robot and awakens him. I think if you've read a lot of stories that goes this way, you might be able to tell what will happen next. The robot runs away and scares everyone in the neighborhood, Megan befriends Edward and they save the day!
As cliche as it sounds, it was still a very enjoyable and a sweet read and I think I might get a physical copy of this book when it's out! Just for the artwork!

The Encyclopedia of Early Earth is a story about stories. It's a story about a Storyteller and his lovely adventures discovering Early Earth. I very much enjoyed these stories within stories, the concepts and the very interesting art work.
A long time ago, two people met and fell in love.

But there was one tiny problem. They could not touch each other at all.

So, the boy who was a very great Storyteller in his land told the girl stories about his life which like I mentioned before led to more and more delightful stories.
He tells her about his land called Nord, a land in the very north of the world. Nord is a cold region but in summer it is a beautiful place. He talks about his three mothers who were sisters and how they found him on the shore and decided to take care of him.
He tells her about how his mothers split him into three different parts of himself for they wanted a kid of their own to take care of and did not want to share it with the others. And how they realized it was a big mistake and joined him back together but there was still one piece of him that was missing. And that was how he had left his home in search of that tiny part of his soul.
He tells her about his adventures in various lands, about the Gods and the giants and how an Old Lady slayed a mighty giant. The stories are all wonderfully delightful and adorable. The art work wasn't the best I've seen but it suits the theme of this book. It's a lot like traditional paintings and I really enjoyed this unique art work.
This graphic novel is perfect to read as a bedtime story. It's colorful and has a lovely concept on the whole. Also, the hardcover edition is a really pretty edition to own if you're a collector. ...more

Gilded Ashes was a very eerie, dark and a twisty retelling of Cinderella. I was completely taken with how wonderfully this dark story was executed. Retellings can become trite but this wasn't. It only became darker.
“Love is madness, I say. “Doesn't everyone agree that you’d do anything, endure anything, to be with the ones you love? So either you’re willing to let them use you with any sort of cruelty, so long as they keep you—which makes you a fool—or you’re willing to commit any cruelty, so long as you get to keep them—which makes you a monster. Either way, it’s madness.
Maia, our main character is a maid. She does everyone's work and tries to please them as much as possible. But she's also trying to please someone else. Her dead mother. Her dead mother protects her as a ghost who unleashes demons on anyone who can harm her daughter. Pretty cool mother, huh?
But it's not so simple. If Maia ever drops a single tear, whoever caused that tear will suffer so badly that Maia maintains a fake façade of happiness all the time. Her mother is scary when she's unhappy, so scary that she wouldn't wish it on her worst enemies.
[image] *Cue villainous music*
So, in order to make her Stepmother happy, Maia delivers letters from her sister Kore to Lord Anax hoping that they both would marry. And once they do get married, Kore, Thea and her Stepmother will leave her and go live in the Duke's palace. Then, there would be no more pretending. Then, there would be freedom.
So, Maia does everything she can to make sure Lord Anax falls for her sister Kore. But what if things don't go as planned? What if Lord Anax is falling for someone else?
Maia was a good main character. I felt certain similarities between her and the Cruel Beauty's main character (I cannot remember her name). Both of them wanted to please someone or help someone but I guess even in the original fairy tales, the characters were all about pleasing someone. It would have been nice if Maia was rebellious and spunky like Cinder and that story is really a wonderful sci-fi retelling of Cinderella which you simply must read if you haven't read it yet!
This story is also set in the same universe as that of Cruel Beauty and there are brief mentions and appearances of the Gentle Lord. On the whole, this short novella was very interesting and dark, so dark, I still feel creeped out thinking about it!

What's on the menu: Fun is on the menu with a few sprinkles of darkness!
Seconds was a really good graphic novel. The artwork was fantastic and I loved the colours! The characters are portrayed like cute chibi characters which might generally make one think this is meant for a younger audience but worry not for this novel is meant for all ages and the characters are older than how they look!
Katie wants to open a new restaurant but things aren't going so great for her. She's making a lot of mistakes, hurting a lot of people and she just wishes she could go back and change her mistakes. And how lucky she feels when she finds a house spirit in her house! All she has to do is write down her mistake in a particular notepad, eat a mushroom and BAM! Whatever she wished had happened instead would replace her mistake.
But like ever typical person with something magical, Katie gets addicted to this routine of writing down her mistakes and eating mushrooms and BAM! Her mistakes gets corrected.
And she has no clue how her past gets corrected or what exactly happens. It just gets corrected the way she might have wanted.
She wants her old boyfriend back - BAM! - He's back.
And like that, she keeps eating mushrooms and keeps correcting her mistakes which angers the house spirit (too much of anything is good for nothing) and also without Katie's knowledge something dark and gritty is being created because of her adventures with magical mushrooms.
So, basically what this story is trying to tell is you can't change whatever that has happened and you need to move on and not make similar mistakes. This graphic novel was just fun but nothing more. I wasn't emotionally connected to the characters or the story. I mostly kept reading this because of its artwork which again, is absolutely fantastic!
If you're looking for something quick and fun and engaging, you should pick this one up! And do choose the hardcover edition because it is extremely gorgeous!

The Story
Two families want to unite in marriage; the Caffertys' and the Marsdens'. And their perfect opportunity lies on Jemma Cafferty and Ryder Marsden. But there's one teeny tiny problem. Jemma and Ryder hate each other! And they have no intentions of giving in to their parents' wishes. (I'm giving ye no more! Don't look for more information about the story line. Try to go in blind!)
Sounds so much fun, right? I just love reading about love/hate relationships! So, let's give the summary a huge tick because that's what drew me in.
(Ta-da!)
The Characters
Jemma Cafferty, our main girl, was a complete kickass! Trust me, that girl can wield guns and sew clothes! Talk about girl power! I loved her narration. It was funny, cute and I, on the whole, enjoyed it very very much!
Ryder Marsden was well, umm, you know, hot. And maybe a little bit stupid when it comes to girls.
So, basically we have two amazing leads! Ta-da! [image]
This book was not only about Jemma and Ryder trying to like each other but it's also about finding about one's true self and pursuing your goals despite what others tell you to do. I really liked how independent Jemma was, sticking to her own ideas till the very end.
I had a really good time reading it. This was a short book so I finished it in one sitting and when I was done, I just had this content feeling, you know? Sometimes, we need books that don't have dense story lines, people dying all the time and too much crying and all the 'feels'. This book was just perfect for me. It made me giggle and grin like an idiot the whole time I was reading it! AND I WANT MORE!

Maus, I don't know what to say about this book. I don't want to think about those people in this book. It's just too painful. We waste so much in life. We take things for granted. And we always realize the importance of these things once they're gone forever. But what's the point in realizing its value once it's gone? This is what Maus taught me. Ah, it hurts. I can't review this book. Simply cannot. But I'm obviously going to try.
Maus is a story about Art's father, Vladek, Art's relationship with his father and a lot of other things.
It's a story about love. [image]
It's a story about loss and pain. [image]

I suggest everyone to read this book at least once in their lifetime. ...more

It's inconceivable to even think of a person who doesn't love adventures!

Buttercup, our main character, had quite the adventure. Let me tell you, the best thing about this book is the characters. They're downright funny, adorable, brave, bold and most of all memorable. I loved every single one of them, especially Fezzik. I really found him very adorable!
I laughed at several times and I was completely shocked because I have never laughed so much while reading a book. Any book that makes you laugh is a good book!
I don't really need to say much about the story. Most of you would have watched the movie or would have read the book a long time ago. I'm really late in reading all the good classics. If you're new to this book like I was, then go into it blind. You'll have an awesome and a memorable adventure, for sure.
My only problem with the book was the parentheses or I would like to call them as 'The interruptions'. Sometimes, I enjoyed reading them. Sometimes, I skimmed them. Sometimes, I felt like throwing it against a wall. I didn't want to skip them because then I'd feel like I read an incomplete book (I'm weird, I know). So, if you have the same problems, just leave the book for some time. Go do something else and then come back to it. Don't force yourself to continue because it sure didn't work out for me. Read this book slowly and savor every bit of it.
