I truly loved this story more than Crank. It was, hands-down, the best one that Ellen Hopkins has written. This is the story that made me cry and I hold this book near and dear to my heart because I know people who contemplate suicide and attempted it. I don't know the pain that people happen to go through but this story I will always hold close because it's realistic tale makes me wonder if people I know happen to go through similar difficulties.
Conner, Tony, and Vanessa all exhibit realistic qualities and contemplate realistic things and actually follow through. Shooting, cutting, over-dose. These things happen all the time in modern society and Ellen Hopkins puts them into perspective and shows who the character overcomes such selfish desires.
The key thing that I got out of this book was taking the easy way out was the pansy way. That those who take the risks of life feel the fullness of life. After reading this book (and crying for a bit) I thought about those who had tried to take the easy way out and failed and hoped they could struggle and toughen because though life isn't easy, you can always build your own path to a great life. And for those who had taken the easy way out, I wish they could have built their road a little more and kept thinking "well, today might have been bad but tomorrow is always another day for a good day," and so on and so forth. I actually hope everyone thinks that, because if you keep looking forward to tomorrow, it will eventually come, and you can always look forward for a brighter tomorrow. ...more
