With that said, the reason I had to dock it a few stars was the fact that I couldn't relate with the main character as much since he was 13 (I think...maybe 12) and I am, currently, 17. However, I really liked the adventure, and the story line. Considering that this is about time travel, some of the time traveling aspects of it were confusing at times, but you just have to think about it some. Orson Scott Card explains it and repeats it enough for you to eventually get if you are struggling, I believe. Overall, I really enjoyed it!...more

Going into this, knowing it was a book about the end of the world, I had high expectations (also considering all of the hype everyone gave it when I checked it out). Starting off with the positives: - Aziraphale and Crowley were the HIGHLIGHT of this entire story. I found their amazing humor so hilarious, and I found myself laughing out loud by their witty remarks quit a bit. - Great idea for a plot - Just fun adventure overall
The problems: - I felt the story to be extremely diluted. I felt like the authors could have gotten to the point a lot faster on things and been a little more dramatic, but I had to keep reminding myself that this was a comedic read. - I really wish the story had gone a little further in the fact that the "end of the world" only occured in a few days and a few simple steps..
Overall, while I was bored and pushing myself through some of it, the characters in this book saved it for me. This book made me laugh more then most. While the negatives do suede me slightly, I am excited to see what else these authors may have to offer....more

This story was my first Jane Austen novel. And while it took me awhile to get used to the writing, it was definitely worth it, for Austen has this beautiful way of writing. The reason's for me docking the 1.5 just have to do with little knit-picky things. I was never really engrossed in the story, and I felt the ending to be slightly cliche, however this was written in the 1800s, and I presume Austen may have even set the cliches, which I believe is a big accomplishment if it's true. Anyway - interesting story, beautiful writing, it just didn't completely engross me in the story as much as I would have liked it to. ...more

Let me just start by saying, if you haven't read this book, you might as well, for it is not a bad read, but will catch up to you. While I did formerly rate this 3.5 stars, you can't do that here. Lol. I always want to start with the problems. The first was that I felt every music reference or anything pertaining to a subject that the author may have been unfamiliar with was simply googled and pasted in the book. While this isn't a MAJOR problem and can't be confirmed, I do have a lurking suspicion. My major problem with this book was the way that it so abruptly ended. I felt that Forman could have added the next book to make it one, sound novel to round this thing out. It was like here is her answer, the end. On the positive note, I did form a connection with the characters and truly felt bad when something happened to them. Forman did a good job on this. If you are looking for a nice, quick contemporary and haven't picked this up yet, please do. (Avoid the movie, however)....more

While some may view three stars as negative, this book did keep me thoroughly entertained. The problems I had with it, however, were as follows. I feel like the short chapter setting (while quicker to read) did not work for this book. It felt extremely choppy to me. Also, in case you haven't noticed, the story line is not all that original. While he does give credit to some works in the back, I did feel this to be a copying of a certain movie. Do not get me wrong, this book is entertaining. If you can get past the fact that he writes children's books as well and are in the mood for a quick, entertaining read, go for it. If you are in the mood for an original, blockbuster thriller, look elsewhere. ...more

I have been involved in the series for awhile, and while I was quite saddend for the end, I was still thrilled to finally get ahold of this book! This series has been an amazing thrill ride, and I have grown extremely attached to the story and characters. But, Meyer does not dissapoint in the least with this amazing conclusion! She ties up all the loose ends and gives us an amazingly satisfying conclusion. While, it's sad t say goodbye to Cinder, Cress, Winter, Thorne, Scarlet, Iko, and even Levana, this series is - this world - she has created is not one to miss. This story and it's characters - my friends - will longer in my mind for forever. I can't wait to see what Meyer is going to come out with next (Heartless, a look into the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, I believe). I am huge fan of Meyer, and hope to meet her someday - the person who has created this spectacular world and characters who I consider almost dear friends in my mind. Meyer has created a masterpiece....more
