A classic now but more a contemporary piece when Written. Edna spoke plainly and without censure about some very important topics. After reading some of the reviews to see how others felt about this book, I will have to read some of Baldwin's other work as they all said this was not his best work. As with other books like this one from this time period, it has a lot of controversial issues with personal stories that are really hard to hear/read....more

Like the Anger book, this one breaks down the triggers of stress and anxiety and how to respond to them.
It also breaks down the different mental health disorders and how to find help and methos of treatment. It speaks in such a way that Young Adults can understand and hopefully not feel threatened or talked down to.
I think this series would be a good one to have available in schools and maybe even be incorporated into health classes....more

Hades keeps going from someone I'm just not sure about to the "awww he is so sweet" and I just don't know how to feel about him sometime. Apollo I still hate.

It had a great concept for a story and even took the real and fantasy and tried to meld it together. Using the characters hearing impairment at a strength for this "other" plane was cool. She left the book wide open for another one, so we will see if that happens....more

I enjoyed the story and really rooted for Faith to become more than others were wanting for her. Her Mother, Brother, and Uncle drove me crazy! I didn't care for them at all. The uncle gave me the creeps each time he was in the narrative. The townspeople were so awful and two faced. Pretty common for that time.
Hardinge did a great job making a character easy to despise.
I liked the Pastor and his son. It was weird at first, but I just couldn't help but like them....more

Gelles did try to stay impartial and just relay the information as it was found, but I think that is where I was just not connecting to Abigail & John's story. I gave 3 stars because the information was well researched... Just for me there was something lost in the presentation....more
