The thing is, this is not bad. Objectively, I am not a fan at all of the plot dragging in the way that it is. But what can I say, Mafi has grabbed my heart with her heartwrencking characters and she won't let it go, just like I can't let them go. The next book better get started with the actual devil making a move and the plot finally moving forward with Alizeh and her power or I'm gonna riot.
I love character driven stories, so I can't say I did not enjoy the different interactions between all the characters. I genuinely care for them all and even seeing Kamran, Cyrus and Hazan interact was so enjoyable !
I just need a few things from Mafi : - that's enough with the Kamran bashing now. His character is very purposefully being destroyed in order to portray Cyrus in a better light and justify Alizeh's choice. Cyrus is already great all on his own and we already feel bad for him, we don't need to constantly bring down Kamran to prop him up. - we are going in circles with Kamran and Huda's bickering, let's make them a little mature in their resentment of (and attraction for) each other please. - unpopular opinion, I want Cyrus and Kamran to be reluctant friends or at the very least end up having respect for each other - more action please - Hazan is better than all of them combined and I'm gonna need to find out what he's hiding asap - He is the only husband material in that book ...more

I have so many thoughts but overall, loved having Oak's pov. Loved getting to see Jurdan and the whole family. Only negative point is, I wish the ending was less rushed. We deserved a sit down between so many characters in this book after everything that happened. I want deleted scenes please Holly ?
I will definitely re-read this at some point, I am sure of it. Also, is it just me or is Holly planning another book in The Folk of the Air world ?

It's the way they got to know each other, the way it all fell into place without them even realising, the way they both found a home in each other (Misery baby I'm so happy for you), gosh they were sooo sweet !!
I did get sick of the smut (I was definitely skimming towards the end) but that's a me problem, I know a lot of people enjoy it...
Overall recommand for a fun LOVELY and SWEET uncomplicated time. I'm blushing thinking about it still...
Also, considering how it ended, I am very open to a sequel ?...more

Oak is charming and funny. He does not have hooves in my mind, sorry Holly, you will never convince me. I found myself surprised everytime I was reminded of them. Although tbh, I also didn't like the idea of Cardan having a tale so, I guess I'm just really not a furry, unless it involves fangs :)
I loooved Oak and Wren's dynamic. The games they're forced to play, brought about by their circumstances and their attraction to each other. The ending killed me, but all the while I could only understand both Wren and Oak's povs.
The plot twist was not really a plot twist to me, I guessed it very quickly. However, I'm not sure it was supposed to be ? I'm expecting bigger schemes in the second book,. This one really felt like setting up the characters and dynamics so we could get to the real conflict in book two, where shit will actually hit the fan ?
Anyways, I've already started book two and I cannot wait to hopefully see more of Elfhame and Jurdan now that we are in Oak's pov ? Pretty please Holly ? ...more
