1X What an ending to the series! Loved so much about this book. My favorite character in the whole Parsolverse is back. Fun to see Genevieve Lefoux. infiltrating Bunson's Boys School. “Vieve, you’re turning into a rake.� “Do you really think so? Topping.�
“You’re going to get a reputation as a swill tub tosspot.�
“Cooking gadgets never work properly.� Vieve looked sad. “Try to kill someone or take over the world and boffins are all for it, but baking a cake is a more serious business. Must be left up to proper pastry chefs, I’m afraid. Cooks are always human, never mechanical. And Bunson’s cooks are several puffs short of the pastry.�
I find Gail Carriger's originality in names and way with words so hilarious. Just a few of my favorite quotes: “Word is the duke’s been elevated to Grand Gherkin. It is a significant position of power for such a disturbingly petty individual. There’s only one Pickleman higher� the Chutney himself.�

Original Review: Genevieve Lefoux has been one of my favorite characters from the first time I met her in Etiquette & Espionage, then all through the Parasol Protectorate Series. While this can be read as stand-alone story, I think its more fun having read the others. That way you can play a rousing game of "Where's the Wicker Chicken". Chronologically it setting is 2 years after Timeless. While it's mostly categorized as romance it more than just that. There is class prejudice and danger that working women faced in the Victorian age. While Genevieve is able to be herself because she is a famous inventor and French, it's not that easy for Imogene. Imogene is poor country girl who has to hide her attraction to women. It a fun read that's sweet and at times a bit scary, vampires after all....more

From Chapter 8 entitled A Mystery, a Fez and an Italian Mathematician to the Last Page this is one of my favorite parts of the whole Parasolverse. I adore Percy. Ensemble Scenes are hilarious. Rue being Rue; especially the French Postcard Scene. Percy's POV, his love and acceptance of his sister, insight into their childhood, tassels and Pishtacos. Message of Found Family and being a mother doesn't mean you have to give birth. And this: "I shall have goals and wishes and hopes that are of my own making rather than my mother’s. Or society’s." I can't wait until August to read Final Book in The Custard Protocol - Reticence. #great2019parasolversereadalong

Percy, the mad professor with his cat Footnote is hilarious. Quesnel Lefoux is so much like his mother Genevieve. Charming and makes everything a double entedre. Plus you have an airship painted to look like a Ladybug.

4X Delightful to reread. I love when author ends a series well. As Alexia says tied things up with a 'elegant solution'. Plus plenty of threads for more in Parasolverse.
