She received the next person and location to where she would find the stone. However, she didn鈥檛 have directions, and ran into the Ice Horses during her travels. Carling was obedient, and was given guides on her journey.
Carling is a lucky young lady that has a clan of friends who assist in her journeys to help find the stones for her silver breastplate; this book is no different. During the toughest times, they don鈥檛 bail out.
This book I enjoyed the middle towards the end, and ready to read book 3 of the series. The best part is the adventure to me is how quickly deception and betrayal can happen; however, if you truly know a person鈥檚 character then you know there鈥檚 no way possible this person could do a devastating thing.

However, her calling was known before the foundation of the world, later to be revealed once she came of age, and before her very birth which was only foretold to her mother--who would bear a girl child and become the ruler of Crystonia.
Further along her journey, she gives even her worst of enemies mercy, even when it is not deserved. This would be hard to do when someone is out to capture or kill you, but you do not do the same in return.
I commend M.J. Evans for showing a female heroine that was quite unnerving of which showcased bravery in a fantasy-like tale. Overall, the story was light, easy read for YA, and moved at a regular pace. For my tastes, the characters were surface-driven and didn't necessarily have a favorite. The book was lightly entertaining and willing to read the next book in the series.

Therefore, this is my first time reading such a genre "coming of age" for the millennials. However, in my opinion, there is a scene or wording that I am not quite sure is appropriate for this age group, but ultimately it is up to the readers鈥 digression and author鈥檚 choice to place it in the novel.
Since I am not familiar with this genre and its style of writing, I had a difficult time completing this read. There were some areas I felt could have been elaborated on such as the 鈥渞ape鈥 since I was asking who, why, when, how, and what question(s) while reading the literature, then towards the end was mentioned again that re-triggered who actually violated Mercedes; also I did not fully connect as a reader to the love-experience between the couples.
Poetry was added to the novel, as a form of expression between Mercedes and Bitter. There was one poem that was simple, direct, and to-the-point about relationships that I greatly enjoyed on page 85/86 (ebook version). In my own train of thought, I wondered if the names: Love, Betrayal, and Bitter were all emotions or such emotions playing in Mercedes鈥 psyche when it came to relationships. Or actual names of the characters, or some names were used as metaphors and/or nicknames to express such emotion in certain scenes of the storyline.
Overall, I can see this novel being dissected, evaluated, and discussed in an Advanced English or Reading course in High School (which I took Advanced English in 11th grade).

Shannon Aimee meets a noble man who鈥檚 an earl of northern England during the late 1700s and she is willing to leave her Scotland homeland to be with him, believing that he wants to marry her so soon. Her parents discourage the wedding plans and to leave to go to Gatehaven. However, someone convinced Shannon鈥檚 parents that it was alright. Yet they send their lifelong friend, Ian Colquhoun, to keep watch. Ian, on the other hand, is searching passages from the Bible and speaking to a pastor to learn more about the binding of spirits as well as testing the spirits. Ironically, this was the favorite part of the book when the pastor shared about two women that he recommended to test the spirits when they thought they were hearing the voice of the Lord. Amazingly the one that Ian thought out of the two tested the spirits, was not the correct woman and one that you may least expect to change their lives over to Christ, turn a new leaf. Later, Shannon experiences firsthand some creepier things going on in the Gatehaven home, learning about the red gate, and divination as well as speaking to the dead. What EVIL lies inside.
As the synopsis says, 鈥渄eadly deception鈥 this is what I am waiting to see what it is all about and how the truth comes to light. I enjoy reading Christian historical fiction books with a scope of 鈥渨hat will you do for love!鈥
The book itself had its highs and lows as far as pace, flow, and interest of the storyline but never a bore. The writing style was different to my normal reads, but loved how it adds a touch of scriptures to backup the findings of what is lurking in the Gatehaven home and other mysteries that come about in the story. Although I became quite fond of Ian Colquhoun, on the other hand, Shannon Aimee stubbornness and ignoring the obvious facts with her touch of na茂vet茅 made me want to shake her up a bit. The author did a good job of writing since sometimes I felt the intensity and climax of the story, and other times agitated with certain characters or their uncertainty of specific things that seemed quite obvious.
When the story got closer to the ending, it was remarkable. I didn't want it to end, as the details were carefully being unleashed.

We need life formations during these transitions in our lives and share a word, since we have a responsibility to share our testimony with us as this We need life formations during these transitions in our lives and share a word, since we have a responsibility to share our testimony with us as this author did in his book.
C Moorer also shares his calling on his life--not necessarily in a church or ministry, to become a doctor and share his testimony with the youth to those who are off track to get on track (is what spoke to my heart). "When God calls you, you will know it (it burns in your spirit and will not leave you until you set forth to do it), and you'll never forget it (p. 90, paraphrased)." We as believers, are called to 'make disciples of Jesus Christ' and he heard the call...now making it. God will tell us things, and we have to obey his command even if things look dim. He was told "it's over" and had to leave corporate America to pursue what God called him to do.
Favorite chapters are 11: Calling and 12: Envisioning your future (I'd call it Envision your Vision). I also was reminded of "the Pact" by three gentlemen who lived in crime-ridden polluted neighborhoods and all excelled and became doctors. I hoped to do this with three ladies who all want to go to law school, but seem to be going solo on this mission.
I'd highly recommend this book for junior/seniors in high school (graduates), college students, and engineering, business, and management students or graduates seeking a career in these particular majors would be beneficial for and those who are making life choices and need to hear someone's story of trials to triumphs.

I Dream 4 More Radio was to interview this author but was canceled on author's request. However, we still proceeded with the reading of the material. I had to read the beginning three times to engage in the storyline and wasn't sure if it was a memoir or a fictional story based on real events. Overall, I like the efforts taken by the author to share a story and was best when she was a girl versus a woman, but never gave up no matter what happened to her as a child by losing all her family members to illness or eaten by the beasts of the wild.

As a single woman with plans for marriage, I see concepts and scenarios from the Bible that gives a brief explanation on a covenant vs. contract of a marriage. However, what sticks in my memory is how Boaz viewed Ruth--he did not focus on her beauty or what she'd offered but her commitment and covenant alongside with Naomi after the lost of their husbands. She could have ran off and found a new husband, but everything was lined up in God's timing.
These God-given words is not preachy but teaching applications where one can obtain the true significance of marriage as God views it (covenant). I took my time with this book and saturated every word and embraced every concept to see marriage for what God intended it to be--more than a wedding ceremony and ring. I thank God for this married couple and pastors for writing such a book for our day!

An Addict's Tale is a collection of poems that has several sections from love and relationships, humor, Voices of Edgar Allan Poe, Dreams and Inspirational, and his own insight/life.
In the beginning section, there were many poems that relates to one's undying love for those he had relations with, family, and other sensual experiences were exposed. The title alone fooled me in believing it was about drug addiction but instead it dealt with addiction of one's genuine love.
The voice of Edgar Allan Poe, short and sweet poems but least interested in out of the entire book.
An Addict's Tale section shows the author's story in lyrical or poetic format from age 1-24 and exploring relationships, clubs, and drinking/drugs during this time span of his life.
Humor section, a majority of the poems I did not find humorous but surreal.
Dreams and Inspirational, most of these poems I did not see as inspirational except for two. I enjoyed "While in This Life" speaks on a greed, how it affects people, and can't undo unless you learn from your past mistakes and willing to allow healing to take place by turning to God. This is where you can find true repentance and live! A similar poem is "I Used To" that I loved the most out of all the poems in the book because is speaks on hopelessness, where life has no meaning but the formula is to trust in God with all we got (heart, soul, mind, and body). We are to look in the mirror, which is a reflection of you! What do you see? How can you change? Who do you love and believe in?
"A Desire to Sin", we desire to sin but only God can forgive us and change our perspective on our actions to become holy if you allow Him in.

We see how a man can have it all--beautiful and successful or brilliant wife (who is a nurse); great family; and entrepreneur who start his own mortgage company. Yet, does this truly make him happy and satisfied? On the outside, it appears he has the perfect wife and life, but on the surface he still finds himself lurking for a piece of sunshine. Then, we get into the mindset and ambitions of Tiffany Roby who is into real estate from Detroit that sets her eyes on Milwaukee and a married man she knows was suppose to be a one-night affair.
Charles writing style for Urban Fiction is well-written as far as not gritty or too erotic is concerned. He also has morals that were clearly identified throughout the novel.
However, there are some minor issues such as long sentences (run-ons), development of the characters, narrative voice (first person) was confusing at times, and transitions of the scenes (pace). The pace is fast in some areas where I realized I was somewhere else without a certain flow, yet there is no action or suspense to move so sudden. Be mindful of POV. I had to read a few sentences or passages to realize who I was actually reading via character.

I was able to read this book in one sitting as it was filled with twists and turns. At times, I was shaking my head because I could not believe the turn of events. This book had the perfect recipe for disaster and drama when a person mistakes lust for love and gets the two emotions confused. As human beings, we sometimes get love and lust confused and the characters of 鈥淪ecret Betrayals鈥 were no exception. She also has spiritual intuition and discernment at a very young age.
Nicole Childress also shares her testimony and journey in this book. She grew up hearing her mother past nightmares of being raped, whereas no one believed her. Sally welcomed liquor to cure her soul. However, Sally mentally abused her daughter constantly as she drained her spirit. So, Nicole turned to hanging with friends, engaged in fights over boys, and a teen-mom in 1989.
In Milwaukee, WI, there are schools such as Lady Pitts for teen-mothers to take care of their children and finish high school. She also shares the women who had a positive influence in her life, as well as those people who were negative influences. Through it all, Nicole still discovers who she is and never looking at her mother, Sally, for the answers.
Nicole did not want to turn out to be a drunk, raped, or physically/mentally abused as her mother was. She did not want to be illiterate, unable to read and have a brighter future for her life regardless of her sudden medical conditions.
Moreover, she listened carefully to the voice of God and followed what was administered to her. She witnessed the naked boy, Konerak Sinthasomphone, one of Jeffery Dahmer's victims to his murderous spree. No matter what Nicole faced, she kept pressing until everything was revealed. ...more
