I have a thingLegacy is one of the best books I’ve read in a while. I mean it. Initially I just got it because I thought the cover looks really cool. I have a thing for emo/goth boys, and having read, and loved, Kelly Creagh’s Nevermore, I was longing for a dark and tortured hero falling for a pure and sweet girl kind of story. Judge me all you want. Lucky for me, Legacy ended up being waaay more than that.
First of all, it’s not a romance novel. Yes, a romance element is present. Yes, it has love (or lust? something along those lines) at first sight (kind of) and a love triangle. Gasp! However, the main focus is on the character development and world building. The book is full of chunky paragraphs full of descriptions. It focuses on more than one character, so a lot of time is spent on following them and observing their interactions with the world. The book is full of tech, LARP and gaming references, so if you’re into that sort of thing you’ll have a pretty good time going into details. If you’re not, you’ll probably end up getting bored waiting for the hot romance stuff to happen.
But oh, when it does happen you’ll be happy. Trust me.
*coughcough*
I guess that’s the best way of summing it up. Legacy is not your typical Young Adult Romance novel trying to pretend it’s something more than that. Legacy IS something more than that. It’s a unique story, a unique world full of interesting characters and intrigue. I’ve never read something like this, so I’m pretty hyped about it.
Lucky for me, I managed to bribe the wonderful Jesikah Sundin with my desperate fangirl tears in order to allow me to read the ARC for the sequel, Elements. Totally worth it.
SPOILER: the series keeps on getting better and better....more

It was a pain to read, and I say this in the best of ways. It took all my feelings and fears, threw them in a blender and turned them to mush. For this I'm going to give it the big 5. I rarely get so bothered by reading a book. Well done....more
Fans of Morganville Vampires rejoice! We finally got a book that lives up to this series potential. Or at least gets very close to it. Which is cool.

I really love this series and it pains me to give these books less than five stars. Morganville Vamps can do five stars easily. It just doesn’t work too hard to reach that for some reason unknown to me yet.
I never felt like continuing a series after giving the first book three stars. Never. That means that I found the series meh. Meh doesn’t want me to instantly buy the book and find out what happens next. And yet Morganville always leaves me wanting more. Is it the fact that the series is amazing or should I blame it on the cliffhangers? Or both? I’m going for both.
I do hope that the next installments will be even better since Midnight Alley gave more depth to the vampire universe. Caine keeps on adding more and more details to her stories and characters and all this boosts up the quality of her books. I am extremely happy.

The Dead Girls' Dance didn’t impress me much. I felt like the events that the story focused on weren’t so interesting, and this didn’t get me in the right mood. I didn’t think it was better than Glass Houses, and it wasn’t worse. Claire was better though. Eve and Michael were as good as ever. Shane. Meh. He bothered me many times, but in the end, he was alight.
I got used to Rachel Caine’s cliffhangers so I was bracing myself for a big one. Nope. It was rather stupid if you ask me. My good friend Alk told me that book #3, Midnight Alley, is badass so I’m pretty excited about it. Will be reading it asap....more
Don’t give me that look. I’m sure I‘m not the only one who imagined this.
Starting EThe Poe Toaster.

Oh wait, I have an even better one!

Starting Enshadowed was a huge mistake. And before you go all berserk on me, no I don’t mean that it’s a bad book. On the contrary, it’s a very good book. What actually made me say this is the ending. That godforsaken ending. Then again, Nevermore had a frustrating ending as well, so I guess I should have seen it coming.
What bothered me about the ending, besides the obvious things - those who have read the book know what things I’m talking about - is the fact that book three will be out in fucking 2013. 2013. What the hell? That seems like a lifetime away.
Why couldn’t I wait until all three books are out, and then start the series? Why? Because Nevermore was too tempting. Now look at me paying the price. Enjoy watching me beg and suffer.

Buy it. Join the suffering.
The reason why I’m not giving it five stars is Varen’s absence. Isobel is great, but not great enough to cover up his absence. The story was also lacking at some points. Too much parenting going on, not enough magic. This got me a bit bored.

Not a good student. The usual. I didn’t think I would like Isobel. Hell, I hated her at the beginning of the book. But Kelly Creagh managed to make Isobel evolve into an admirable character.
The story revolving Poe was interesting enough. We get even some nice quotes from his works. Even though the story mostly goes around the school assignment, it did not get boring. The other part went around the dreamworld, which could get confusing.
And last but not least, Varen. This goth baby won me over fair and square. He’s deep, he’s an artist. He writes and draws. The author wanted us to fall for him and went all in.
If you're into the opposites attract emo boi cheerleader trope go for it....more
