hilarious. this book focuses on greg and his school being a terrible terrible school. literally why would anyone even go there lmao. they got a new prhilarious. this book focuses on greg and his school being a terrible terrible school. literally why would anyone even go there lmao. they got a new principal and he made ¡°improvements¡± on the school to boost the test scores but they all backfired and got the school closed instead.
i really wished we could¡¯ve seen more of rowley tho. or just more on greg¡¯s relationships with his friends. this book focuses more on the school and the goings on in it. greg definitely feels more like a spectator than a part of whatever¡¯s happening in it....more
**spoiler alert** okay so i just finished sunrise on the reaping and¡

well, i**spoiler alert** okay so i just finished sunrise on the reaping and¡
i have no words.
right from the get go i knew this book was gonna wreck me.
well, it did more than that. it shattered me. it broke me. but in a way it assembled and prepared me for the damage that it was gonna unleash upon me.
i got to see so many of the beloved characters we¡¯ve always known: haymitch (obviously), wiress, mags, beetee, plutarch (i never cared for him before, but i LOVE him now), EFFIE, and then we got to see more characters like asterid (katniss¡¯s mom (which is funny bc i¡¯ve read multiple fics where her mom is named aster. those fic writers were on to sth), burdock (katniss¡¯s dad. it¡¯s just a barrage of plant names i guess), and otho mellark (peeta¡¯s dad!).
we got lots of romance between haymitch and lenore dove aka his covey girlfriend. but i never really cared for them lmao. i was way more excited about the smattering of hayffie interactions that i got. effie is a sweetheart as always. brainwashed and clueless, but a sweetheart. i think the epilogue eludes to him being single forever after lenore dove¡¯s death. but i can already smell the new hayffie fics brewing on ao3 hahahah. it turns out effie is a few years older than haymitch btw.
and omggggg i love maysilee so much. she¡¯s the best. she reminds me SO much of eadlyn. the bite. the insults. the stuck-up and spoiled attitude.
i love haymitch¡¯s voice. it¡¯s so¡him. 16-year-old and innocent but then hardened overnight bc of the games. thank god it¡¯s fiction bc if the things he had to go through were real¡i think i¡¯d have cried for real (i didn¡¯t).
and haymitch saying katniss is basically like him¡but luckier ...more

it was okay. i read it in one sitting¡up until they got together only one-third of the book.

i ALWAYS lose interest as soon as the couple get together.
i don¡¯t care about the conflicts or whatever that happen once they¡¯re together.
i only love the chase.
that¡¯s why i gave it 3 stars. it was okay. if only the author had prolonged their meet tho....more

**spoiler alert** a banger from mike omer, as usual.
it astounded me how viscerally angry and frustrated robin¡¯s mom made me feel ugh.
and also lowkey??**spoiler alert** a banger from mike omer, as usual.

and also lowkey??? was hoping evan to be the killer bc i want him either in jail or dead.
and good for claire for divorcing pete. he¡¯s a dick.
still waiting for a sequel to thicker than blood tho!!! i miss zoe and tatum!!!!
i stand by the notion that zoe is mike¡¯s best character to date. i miss her. i probably should reread her books.
this book got me out of a year-long book slump. so i gotta give it at least 4 stars.
but idk?? it felt like i was reading sth not from mike?? it was like reading a writing aimed for children if you know what i mean.
i used to be HOOKED and ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT when reading zoe bentley¡¯s stories. but this?? i was hooked only in the last 20% of the book. i had to DRAG myself to read the first 80%
oh and also???? the fact that covid existed here??? such a bummer. pls don¡¯t merge fiction and reality. i¡¯d rather pretend covid never happened bc that was literally a glitch in our matrix....more
i love the concept of why magical girls exist in this book.

¡°The reason magical girls exist is because they needed their power the most. In other words, before a magical girl awakens her powers, she¡¯s the weakest person in the world.¡±
it gives me contentment and peace knowing that at least in the world of this book, all women who have ever faced injustice can save themselves by becoming a magical girl and brandishing their power.

bret is such a green flag. i doubt such a man ever existed in that time period tbh. but hey, it's fiction. so anything goes.

honestly i loved about 50% of the book. the second half was boring for me. once the pining and yearning part of the slow burn ended, i kinda lost interest lmaooo. it was an enjoyable read tho!...more
