I adored the cover of this book and it had really good potential. For being a sports romance, I felt that the author did her homework on football and I appreciated how that was incorporated into the story. The dynamic between Mel, Zac, and Noah was absolute perfection - I loved it and wanted so much more of it. I liked how completely gone Zac was for Mel, but I felt that if he loved her that much that he would have fought for her instead of just wallowing for ten years. This story really leans into the tropes and throws so many common things that are enjoyed in contemporary romance into one book and because of this the story is too long and loses focus. A bit too much repetition during the characters' inner monologuing and all of the conflict felt really silly and juvenile.
It was overall a sweet, fun story and I'm giving it 3.5 rounded down. I will be giving the sequel a shot!

I really wanted to love this. I am an avid Ali Hazelwood fan, but this book was not it. It just didn’t deliver the way I hoped it would.

I liked Lukas a lot. There were aspects of Scarlett that I liked - her overcoming her fear after injury. Pen was the absolute worst and the last 75% of the book she just got more and more annoying. Scarlett’s obsession with her in regards to Lukas was also very frustrating and felt juvenile. The conflict at the end felt so dumb!
Okay, now onto the sex. The college kids think they are SO KINKY and we are told over and over and over and over that they are kinky. BUT they really aren’t. This was the lightest kink ever. Like people who don’t consider themselves kinky do and enjoy most if not all of what they did. It was so much telling instead of showing and that was driving me crazy. A story about two college kids interested in exploring different aspects of sex would be interesting - normal even! I liked the lists they exchanged about interests, but in the actual sex scenes they did not do anything I would consider all that kinky. And the constant describing of their interests as perverted or deviant was giving me serious ick! This is 2025 - nothing about their interests (that we are told about) were perverted or deviant.
This was not a favorite, but I did enjoy all the swimming and diving! ...more
