Now the book. It was really good. It took awhile to get started but I was totally invested. Admittedly a little scared since I went in blind. There are a ton of details about what is going on inside Orion’s head trying to deal with PTSD and being a double amputee. Most of which is not pleasant. Zeus� PTSD was heartbreaking. Their story was so very horrifying.
This is not insta love. But it is also not quite slow burn. Although there is not tons of sex in the book. For many very legitimate reasons.
Without any personal experience with what amputees go through it felt pretty authentic and much more “real� than other stories. It was not light and fluffy. But that made the reward all the better!
I don’t want to spoil the story because it certainly went in directions I did not expect. Although I guessed the connection pretty early. The story moves a little slow for the first 30%, then it picks up and then shoots off in a different direction. The resolution of the plot happens quite fast. We do get an Epilogue!
For my safety gang friends there are a couple of things that will bug a few of you but not most. But these are BIG spoilers so be warned (view spoiler)[
Orion is a virgin (traumatic childhood) never even kissed. Heroine is not - normal late 20s year old She has amnesia but actually has a boyfriend at home (we later discover) When she returns without Orion she continues dating him but no sex. Kisses though. Hence the safe with exception and the OM tag. I was pissed she did not dump him immediately! There are absolutely ZERO other women. Orion is a recluse There is at least a 6 month separation The story of what happened to Orion, Zeus and his unit is very horrible.

The story was ok. And it certainly had some huge plot elements to the overall storyline. So I am happy I read it. But I could never like Jase.
I also was not a huge fan of Ellen. While she was not a total doormat. She came close. I also worry a lot about her ability to make good choices for her son. I would not have exposed him to Jase without some time for him to prove he had changed his ways. I also would have told her baby daddy to go fuck himself.

But the author rehashed a plot from one of her other series that I HATE. The heroine has to help the hero date other women to find a mare. While they are both attracted to each other. And he had kissed her. It ended up being very short lived so this did not kill the book for me.
BUT there was another major pet peeve. How do big strong manly men manage to always get attacked by the OW who manages to get her tongue down his throat while he is unable to fend her off? All while the heroine watches. AND I would never be putting my own tongue in his mouth not 5 mins later. Because my vagina took over my brain and took away all self esteem. So anyway, things like this take down scores.
All that being said I really liked Jaxson and Olivia and want to read the stories about the brothers. ...more

It is discussed multiple times but you never hear of him specifically going to her, just saying he will. I am furious that was NEVER resolved. Lisa does not know about her nor does he say he gets rid of her by the end. I do not believe he saw her during his back and forth with Lisa, but it still bothered me!
Lisa likes to comparison shop. If Robert kisses her, she wants another guy to kiss her like that to see how she likes it. It was just ridiculous. Totally not my cup of tea!

This story was heartbreakingly real for me. I felt Jenzy's pain. I honestly do not think I would have gone back to Chris. He grovelled, he tried really hard, but I just don't think I could have trusted him again. But I totally get that Jenzy would and I am really ok with that.
Chris was a major asshole for the last two years before enough was enough. While he did NOT cheat, he neglected and was an insensitive jerk on his best day. Jenzy is a pollyanna but I still liked her. However, what she did with Moses was NOT ok in my book. I know it is easy to fall for the "perfect" guy when the love of your life has treated you so badly. But you need to cut the ties before stringing that man along. I might have been ok with a date or two. But it went on for a year!!!! I did not want to shelf this book as "cheater" because everyone would assume that is what caused her to file for divorce. The book got a little slow in the middle. I believe it was because the separation was being dragged out too long. So the author had to time jump to keep the story moving.
Overall, I enjoyed the pain the book caused and am happy I read it. For a book about divorce it was relatively low angst. Not sure I can read Moses' book but I am thinking about it....more

I have NEVER read a book with heroine who was genuinely STUPID! Like she has no ability to be smart, or even slightly less stupid! Being in her brain was torture! I bet it was hard to write because she was so dense.

Therefore, considering this book was completely outside of my comfort zone and interests, I was sucked into the story. There was a point I skimmed a little because something happened that I was very upset over and I wanted to see the resolution rather than living in the present with the characters.
The entire plot was one unbelievable thing after another. But I enjoyed it. Heck I love PNR so what do I care about a few unbelievable elements?

I really wanted to enjoy this. But I am in the minority in that I did not love it. Actually I pretty much hated the hero or heroine for the entire book. Although usually not together so I was able to finish it without hating the entire book.
I have a low tolerance for angst and ow/om drama these days, and typical for CR, this book had it all.
The hero was too wishy/washy for me. The heroine took him back after his last freak out with absolutely NO groveling. That pretty much sealed my unhappiness.
There was some humor and some of the kids were cute. But there is only so much pee, poop and vomit I want in my romance.

But then the heroine is a total immature bitch and does something I could not forgive (yes with her ex fuck buddy (not sex but going out and making out)) This is before she and hero have sex, but after they spend lots of time together including him taking about a week off work to help her and the kids over the flu. So she invited him over for dinner to thank him and then abandons him with HER kids to go out with her friends and FB. nice.....
back and forth...back and forth...her dating someone else - which I was totally ok with at this point
but...alas...hero wants her back so all is well, the end.

Kendrick is an awesome hero and his three boys are the cutest things ever! I also really liked Addy. She was a terrific heroine and perfect for Kendrick and his boys. If she had an ounce of drama or TSTL in her it would have killed the story.
But I HATE dead spouse stories. Especially ones where they were mates! I really only want one mate for life. I want the heroine to be special. I felt she was special in the moment, but if his first mate had lived, they would have never gotten together. He said he would love her forever. Blah!
I also hate the long suffering OW who has been in love with the hero forever and causes drama troupe. I did not feel Kendrick explained enough to Addy (not that she demanded it). Just a pet peeve.
BUT - highlight of the story was all the Tiger time we got (my most favorite of her heroes)!!!! And the ending was FABULOUS! ...more

The heroine was self depreciating and too much the martyr for me. I did not like her but did not hate her. And she did ok by him in the end. However her history disturbed me.
This book was a bit of a snore. I am sure I will forget all about it tomorrow.
