This was a sweet Christmassy romance to finish up the holiday season on. I really enjoy this author's work and haven't read a book by her yet that I have not enjoyed. I wasn't so keen on the male narrator as I listened on audiobook so if I was rating the narration , it would be a 3 star for that.
This was a second chance romance following a 10 year separation after Liam ended their engagement and went off to join the Navy SEAL's. He wasn't entirely honest about his reasons but I think I agreed with him - had he married her at 24 , it probably wouldn't have lasted. Ten years older, wiser and hotter, Liam knows that this time he will do whatever it takes to convince Ava they should be together. Both characters were very likeable. There's humour , passion and some heartfelt moments too. The pace of the story was good and I never lost interest.
Narrators : Tim Paige and Isabelle Ruther Listening Time: 3h 5m
HEA? Yes - and great to catch up with the main characters from the other books in the series. Cheating? No - Ava was married to another man during their separation but it was an epic fail. Liam never dated seriously after Ava. ...more

I read Something So Right a couple of years ago and loved that book about Parker and Cooper. I saw a tweet recently about the spin off series which I am about to launch into but realised I still had this one to read about Allison and Max. Allison is Parker's daughter and Cooper Stone, hockey legend's step daughter. He has pretty much raised her with Parker since she was 5 years old. Now, Allison is all grown up and starts work as the PR manager for her older brother's (Matthew) Ice Hockey Team. Max Horton is a broody, moody, badass, hot, closed off hockey player. The man gives nothing away and he has a fierce history with his team mate Matthew - Allison's brother. They do not get on but tolerate each other for the sake of the team.
What starts off as a very prickly and snippy collision of personalities between Allison and Max, soon turns from enemies to something far more alluring. These two have a connection that refuses to be ignored. They don't leap into bed together very quickly, it's more subtle than that , but they are hugely attracted to one another and I liked that there was a build up to their intimacy. Watching the ice man slowly thaw and see him fall in love with Allison was gorgeous. Max had had such a rough deal in his childhood and late teens. I really felt for him.
You could read this as a standalone but the previous two books are well worth your time. If you like a sports romance, enemies to lovers trope then grab this book and dive in.
It’s at that moment I know I can’t walk away from her. It’s then that I know my whole life I’ve been waiting for this one fucking moment. I know that whatever hell I went through before it was all for this moment right here.

-Audiobook narrated by Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt.
This book is pure Emma Chase gold. I loved the first one in the series about Callie Carpenter and Garrett Daniels but I think I may have loved this even more. Dean is Garrett’s best friend and he is a player to the extreme. He’s been a ladies man forever and has quite the reputation around town. He grew up in Lakeside , brought up by his Granny (she is a brilliant character) and now works as a maths teacher and football coach at the high school. But in the Summer he tours with his band - he’s the hot drummer all the ladies swoon over.
Lainey is a gorgeous heroine and I found her to be immensely likeable. During the summer they meet and have a one night stand - the sparks fly and the attraction is electric but the next morning they part ways.
Not to give too much away but they reconnect again in a very unexpected way -I loved the build up to that and was walking around the shops beaming from ear to ear whilst listening to it. Lainey has some unexpected news for the man who made a huge impression on her.
Dean and Lainey are both 34 , both have a network of people around them who care about them. The secondary characters bring so much to this story.
The narration is superb. I will also be buying the ebook because I need to highlight so many parts of this novel!
It’s sexy , funny , heart twisting and has the whole small town America vibe that I love. Pure romance❤️
Re read May 2023 - This book (and series) is a firm favourite of mine. I loved being back with all the characters. Funny, passionate and a perfect point of conflict. I love Lainey and Dean.
The Next Generation of Beaumont kicks off with Peyton and Noah’s story. Noah is the son of 4225 West frontman, Liam Westbury & 3 Peyton and Noah Stars
The Next Generation of Beaumont kicks off with Peyton and Noah’s story. Noah is the son of 4225 West frontman, Liam Westbury & Josie from Forever My Girl. Peyton is five years younger than Noah and is the daughter of Katelyn & Harrison.
Peyton has loved Noah since Kindergarten. Noah has had feelings for her since childhood too but he was always mindful of their 5 yr age difference. Now Noah is a big shot in the NFL as the starting Quarterback for Portland Pioneers whilst Peyton is finding her feet in College & as a sports reporter. Noah is a cliche with his Victoria’s Secret model girlfriend who is an absolute bitch from hell. There is a good amount of OW drama in this & although I understood Noah’s dilemma , I really wanted him to step up more & earlier in the book.
Peyton is involved in a catastrophic car crash and Noah realises he may very well lose the one woman he truly loves. I wanted these two to actually be together for more of the book but they actually reconnect properly quite late on.
Great to see the original Beaumont characters.
HEA? Yes Cheating? Not once they are together but Noah is living with OW for most of the book....more

I actually read this book ages ago but it was pre my ŷ era! A couple of weeks ago I watched the film of Forever My Girl on Netflix and then immersed myself back into Beaumont. This is such a good series & I love these characters.
In essence this is the love story of Jimmy ( guitar man of 4225 West) and Jenna , waitress/ florist / friend of the band & Josie and Katelyn. Jimmy and Jenna have a one night stand with long lasting consequences. He is a ladies man. She has escaped a violent marriage. He is a rich Brit. She is a pretty cool American girl. And somehow these two work.
Lots of drama with both their exes. We see Jimmy with his ex and it’s fairly intimate. She makes moves on him after he is with Jenna but he is not unfaithful to Jenna.
HEA? Yes Cheating? No. But scenes with OW that are sexual. Triggers? Yes. Domestic abuse and violence. ...more

Quick Review .... Gorgeous , funny , romantic sports romance about a hot shot NHL player who falls for a gorgeous girl who is a bit of a nerd. Period of separation. Unexpected pregnancy. I loved the way they met again - this is Helena Hunting comedy at its best. Great story with passion and some heart tugging moments. Lovely epilogue. If you enjoyed Pucked , then you will enjoy seeing Alex and Violet in this book. Alex is now Head Coach and Violet is still Violet!!
Longer Review....
I do love Helena Hunting's work and A Lie for a Lie did not disappoint .
RJ is a famous , successful NHL player - player in both senses of the word. During the Off Season , he leaves all the glamour and glitz behind and goes to Alaska to fish and stay in a cabin with his brother. His father dies a couple of years before and traditionally it was a boys trip and on this occasion RJ's brother has to bail on him at the last minute.
RJ and Lainey have a very entertaining introduction to each other. I liked that we saw a lot of their time together in Alaska because , like Lainey , we see a very different side to RJ. He is kind, thoughtful, protective and he falls hard for Lainey. They are separated for a year and because of the circumstances of how they part they don't exchange contact details and at no point have they given each other their surnames. Also, RJ has never told her what he does for a living because he wanted her to see him for him.
They reconnect by chance ( very funny scenes with some of the Pucked characters - I do love Violet) Thing is, they both have secrets and slowly the truth comes out.
RJ was a major player before Lainey - he doesn't mess around with anyone during their year apart. He truly changed and grew up after his Alaskan love affair with her.
This was an enjoyable, funny , romantic and gorgeous read. I am really looking forward to more in this series.
Great audio narration - I read and listened.

I have loved every book in this series and I had decidedly lofty expectations for Rye and Brenna's story. Kristen Callihan more than delivered. The Kill John men make for pretty addictive reading and this book had everything I look for in a 5 star read - a Hero and heroine that I am invested in , fantastic secondary characters, fun , humour , passion (oh my goodness, the passion!) , a good story that keeps me interested. I am a sucker for a Rockstar Romance....
Rye is the bass player and also produces a lot of the music for the band and for years he has been clashing with Brenna who plays a pivotal part in managing the band. This is an enemies to lovers tale but once layers are pulled back , we can see how deep the feelings on both sides run. Trust me ,it makes for heady reading.
“What are you doing out here? I ask over the rain. He steps close. “Waiting for you. Heat flares through my numb limbs, waking them up. I bridge the gap between us. “Waiting for me? It’s a stupid thing to repeat. He was perfectly clear. But I can’t help it. No one has ever waited for me. His hand slowly rises, and he touches a raindrop trickling down my cheek. “I came here for you. Of course, I’m going to wait.
Ms Callihan writes romance and passion so well , each interaction between them builds that heat until your kindle is veritably simmering.
Rye’s gaze slides over me like hot cream. “There you are. God. Look at you… He licks his bottom lip, a man thirsty. “Damn, Bren, you blow my mind.
But there is always humour, both between the boys and also between Bren and Rye. I loved that we got to see his vulnerabilities but never quite lost sight of the cocky , confident rock star that he is.
“I’m having fun, I announce as we enter the Arms and Armor wing. “You don’t have to sound so shocked about it, he teases. “I’m a very fun person to be around.
Ultimately , this series continues to hold my attention and my heart. I loved revisiting the guys and catching up on Killian and Liberty (Idol) , Scottie and Sophie (Managed) , Jax and Stella (Fall). You could read this as a standalone but I think you would get more from it (all the character nuances and insider info) if you read the other books.

I loved the original Beaumont series but the Next Generation isn’t working so well for me. I didn’t much like Elle - she came across as a spoiled rich kid , which was the point but I couldn’t find any redeeming traits. I just didn’t like her much. And Ben , our hero, didn’t appeal much either. He seemed quite wishy washy.
I’m disappointed it didn’t work for me but plenty of people loved it and this is just my personal feeling on the book.
I will be reading more in the series - it was great to catch up with previous characters. Also , chances are not every book you read by a ‘go to author are going to be a hit every time.

Lauren Blakely manages to write a lot of romance books and I am hopelessly addicted. I listened to this mainly on audible but dipped into the ebook at times because I was too impatient to wait for the drive to work the next day to listen to my next instalment!
McKenna was very unceremoniously dumped by her ex. I loved her resilience and watching her grow in confidence was awesome. She is a very likeable heroine. When she meets Chris , there is an instant attraction but both of our lead characters have been badly burned in previous relationships so there is hesitation on both sides. The chemistry between the is almost palpable.
Great secondary characters that bring even more to the story.

This is Shelli (Elli & Shea Adler’s daughter) and Aiden’s ( Lucas & Fallon Brooks son) story.
I feel awful giving this book such a low rating and this is purely my opinion , but I was not feeling it with this book. The reason is that I really didn’t like Shelli or Aiden. They both came across as really indulged rich kids. Shelli especially was a real brat imo. And I can’t believe Aiden didn’t recognise her at the party where they connected. They had known each other for years.
Also , just to say that at the start , they have sex and she stops him to get him to put a condom on. He moans that the girls he usually hooks up with don’t make him do that. *cue serious frowning at kindle*. That immediately put me off him. Eeeww.
I speed read the end of the book because I honestly lost interest and just didn’t care for the characters. It kills me to say that because the Assassins is one of my Top 5 fave series ever. But I will read more because this author usually hits the mark for me....more

The Shacking Up Series continues with this story about the oldest Mills brother, Griffin. He and Cosy meet under ...unusual circumstances and despite an initial attraction, it takes a little while for these two to get together. Griffin is wary of being over ten years older and Cosy is just wary of getting involved. She's not planning on hanging around long because she wants to explore the world. She really is a free spirit.
This was probably my least favourite of the series -I did still enjoy it very much but there was a plot twist that I hated (purely personal choice) and I felt there was maybe a bit too much drama. The twist that I disliked was resolved & wasn't as bad as I first thought but my opinions had been formed around it already.
HEA? Yes, very sweet & perfect for them. Cheating? No...more

I am somewhat addicted to Ms Bennett's books and between the Carolina Cold Fury guys and the Arizona Vengeance players, I am in Kindle Catnip.
This is the fourth book in the Vengeance Series and focuses on Dax and Regan. These two have been friends since childhood and Regan's big brother , Lance , was Dax's best friend until he died suddenly. Now Regan is very much on her own and is struggling with a huge problem. Dax comes to her rescue and slowly these two become more and more emotionally entwined.
I often gravitate to friends to lovers / Friends little sister romances and this was enjoyable enough but I didn't love it. However, I did feel it was a vital book in the series because it definitely sets up both Tacker and Dominik's upcoming books. Lots of sub plots are simmering under the pages of this novel and I cannot wait to read what is coming next.
HEA? More HFN but still satisfying Cheating? No. ...more
I have been waiting with great anticipation for this book. Tacker has featured in the other novels in the series and we have 4.5 Tacker and Nora Stars
I have been waiting with great anticipation for this book. Tacker has featured in the other novels in the series and we have seen him drop to the very depths of his grief and he seemed hell bent on a path of self destruction. I think the author took two big risks with this book. Firstly, whenever there is the death of a previous partner there is the chance that the new love interest , our Hero or heroine , will not be loved as much or just not measure up to the person who has passed. Secondly , the whole topic could be really morose and shroud a love story in a cloak of misery. Sawyer Bennett avoided both of these. She is such a talented author and her careful approach to sensitive topics really paid off.
Tacker clearly had loved M.J. , his fiancee who died two weeks before their wedding , and he was consumed by grief afterwards. I never felt like Nora was second best. He has a very different connection to her and it feels like it is more solid, more loving , more of everything. Yet, M.J. is not forgotten about or discarded. Her memory is held dear but it doesn't overshadow Nora and Tacker.
Both Tacker and Nora have experienced huge losses and trauma. They both show resilience (Nora more so - Tacker has to learn his). There is enough dry humour , self deprecation and fun in this book to lift the mood so it never feels maudlin. Plus there is some scorching hot chemistry between our H/h. Phew! Also, I am itching to see our Vengeance boys up against the Carolina Cold Fury ...... who do I pick????
So why not 5 stars? I wanted more of an epilogue. Purely personal preference and call me greedy but I wanted a peek further into the future. I get that lots has been set up for future books and I can't wait for Dominik and Wylde's books , but I wanted a bit more of the resolution between Tacker and his girl.
HEA? Kind of but more HFN. Cheating? Absolutely not. These two are all about each other.

I really enjoyed this grown up , dark themes , Cinderella-esque novel. Andrew is a 28 yo smart, rich and successful man. Quinn is a 21yo reosourceful . homeless , runaway girl who is also protecting her 16yo Sister. Quinn has nothing and Andrew has everything. The story has glimmers of Indecent Proposal when Andrew offers Quinn money to stay with him for 6 months. Quinn is not obliged to have sex with him but the chemistry is positively crackling between them. I loved the build up to these two actually being intimate. Once they are properly together , Andrew and Quinn are hot.
This story had lots of darker themes underlying but there were lighter moments too. There were a couple of twists I hadn't seen coming and the character development is really well done.
HEA? Yes Cheating? Absolutely not. These two are all about each other. Triggers? Sexual abuse

I enjoyed parts of this book which is Book 13 in the LOKI series and the second full length novel about Z and Lilly , but I didn't love it which is the first time ever that I haven't loved one of Autumn's books. Before fellow die hard fans shoot me down....let me explain.
To reiterate I am deeply immersed in all things Lost Kings MC. I have adored each book and I was on tenterhooks waiting to find out the conclusion to the cliffhanger that Book 12 ended on. As things have worked out there will now be a third full length book about them and this one ended on a cliffhanger too. I don't mind there being 3 books (I will devour all things LOKI) and I totally roll with whatever an author thinks works best for his / her characters - after all , the author is the person who pours their soul into the book and in Autumn's case she creates fantastic heroes and heroines that capture the reader's heart and imagination. In this novel, Lilly and Z are together and building their relationship plus Z is contending with a change in his MC role. These guys are so protective and when Lilly is in danger , Z goes full alpha male protector which I loved.
So, why not 5 stars? I don't like my LOKI men being split up. I desperately miss them all being together Upstate. Z is filling in as President of the Downstate LOKI Charter and in this novel we see quite a bit of Murphy and Teller supporting him. There are a few parts with Rock and barely any with Wrath - maybe I'm suffering Wrath withdrawal symptoms because he and Rock are my favourites! I wish I could be more articulate , but my heartfelt feeling is that something huge is missing. My guys need to be together. I miss the banter and fun and yes, there was some of that but something just felt off. My hope is pinned on the fact that Z expressed his dislike of being away from his brothers too and his wish to be home again.
I'm itching for the next book. This cliffhanger was more intense than the last one. I have a soft spot for Z and need to see him get his HEA!
HEA? No. I'm hopeful the next one will have one though. Cheating? No way. Z and Lilly are both incredibly loyal. Z's ex conquests raise their heads but Lilly is a cool chick and handles it all very well. ...more

I loved this book. I was so looking forward to it & I devoured every page. The Until series began with ‘Until November (November & Asher who are December’s parents) and that story will always have a special place in my Kindle heart because it was one of the first books that got me into reading contemporary romance and nurtured my love of stories based around families where each is a standalone in a series.
Gareth is a 32yo Dad of two boys aged 15 & 9. His ex left him years ago but she sweeps her toxic ass into their lives now & then , causes upset to the boys & leaves. He’s been over her for a long time & they have no emotional attachment. His focus is his boys. Then he crosses paths with December Maysen. She may be one of my most favourite heroines in these books. She is a Kindle obsessed first grade teacher with a delinquent cat. I loved that she was soft but showed her sass when needed. Gareth is really alpha and he falls hard & fast for December - he behaves like an idiot at the start but redeems himself.
I guessed the plot but I don’t care. I love these characters & it felt like meeting old friends. It’s not very angst ridden - but again , I wanted a low angst read to balance some other books I’ve read lately.
Looking forward to the next one!
HEA? Yes - gorgeous. Cheating? No way.

Trying hard not to give away spoilers here - you have to read this series in order. Book one ended on a huge cliffhanger and I was itching to find out if Ty could redeem himself after he messed up BIG TIME. Suffice to say that he is doing everything he can to fix his wrongdoings and despite my initial thoughts , I was really rooting for him. I was prepared to beg for forgiveness on his behalf. If that doesn't illustrate what a fabulous writer this author is, then I don't know what does.
I'm keeping this review short. This book also ends on a cliffhanger but I wouldn't describe it as a heartbreaking cliffy like last time. The final book is on its way & I cannot wait.
