A thing that I loved: Bi rep! True, it isn't a big part of the book. Actually, it's a blink and you might miss it thing. However, I liked how Klune handled it. Alex's wife, when we get glimpses of her through memories, sounds like an amazing person; fiery and strong and passionate. (I really admire how Klune gave me this image of her in just a couple of lines and if that's not the mark of a very good author, I don't know what is!) Also, he seemed like he truly loved her and their son. So, there! (Also, I love Artemis!)
A thing that I hated: the ending. Was it an epilogue? I can't even be sure! It just felt like it was trying too hard to be mysterious about (view spoiler)[Art staying (hide spoiler)] that it fell flat for me. It was obvious, there wasn't any need to try and delay the reveal in the final couple of scenes.
A thing that I don't love nor hate: Nat's character. I don't know what went wrong for me, but I found him annoying.
Now, here we are! Overall, it's an enjoyable book, well-written and I definitely recommend it.

Many of the interesting fantasy elements (the doors, the creatures, the history, the hint of a parallel universe(s), etc) were glossed over in favour of the insta love (that came after insta hate?) I don't even know what to make of the whole thing tbh...
Anyway, the audio book is alright and I think the novel is okay for a mindless read as well. You know the mood when one wants to read something but doesn't want to actually get invested in it or the characters? It's perfect for that mood XD...more

Nothing I could ever say would express how wonderful, beautiful, warm and wholesome the book was! I can't find anything in it to complain about, which is definitely a first. The characters and how we're introduced to them is like a journey into a magical land. The language is almost poetic and it's so very simple yet so beautiful and profound! The book, in it's simplicity, is almost a fairy tale, with its title, cover, setting and even plot. Yet the topic, the issues it discusses, the problems it addresses, it's definitely a story for our real life. Yet, yet, it's so very unique because so few books and people look at discrimination and biases and decides to respond with gentleness, understanding and hope. With innocence rather than disillusionment. Or rather, not allowing others' hatred to steal away the hope and love from our hearts.
It is truly a beautiful book, I don't know how else to describe it, but the word is too small to convey everything it's and how it made me feel.
Sorry for the rambling mess of a review, but I am speechless and in awe and in love with everything little thing and every single person in the book.
Just read it, or listen to the audiobook, it's fantastic as well!...more

The mystery was interesting, and I kept trying to solve the crime along with our MCs while listening to the audio (I don't recommend the audiobook though, the narrator was definitely NOT one of my favs!)
I'm honestly starting to believe I've spoiled anything Lanyon for myself by reading the Adrien English series first, because now I can't help but compare each other book by her to them and, honestly, I keep getting disappointed....more
