That's the best way to describe it. The reference reading and material from this list is definitely something of value as is some of the methodology espoused. That being said it could have been a 20 page case study from HBR rather than a 200 page story.

He has some fantastic points about start-ups, working environments for new and small businesses and a strong level of conviction for his methodology and beliefs which is nice to read.
That being said, he's self indulgent in parts of this book - perhaps his choice as a self-made billionaire (I don't know) - and more importantly he spends a lot of time focusing on all the great achievements of his inner circle. There is in fact life beyond silicon valley.

As it is a revised edition, some years after the original, it provides a solid commentary on the progress and lack thereof within the global community.
Ultimately it is a dry read and doesn't flow overly well. It reads like a textbook. If you're in the mood for detail and stats its a book for you....more
