The plot was intriguing and thought provoking, the characters were so well defined. I especially loved the romance. The interaction between Maddie and Justin was perfect, even though it took a while for Justin to act. And might I add Justin is completely swoon worthy? tall, handsome, and completely oblivious to the affect he has on women. I really liked Maddie, she was a strong character. The writing was good, and it was funny! And witty. Several times during the book I was laughing. Some of the scenes, like the one where Maddie’s making a sandwich, was just so funny! I loved it. I loved this book, and I can’t wait for the next one.

It wasn't as good as The Pace. It was kind of slow, nothing really happened, but I still really liked it. I think it was kind of like a fill in novel, a breather book after the fast pacing and action of the Pace, and maybe a breather before The Iron Quill. This novel slows down, and you get to see more of what the characters are feeling, and just learn more about them and what they're like. The characters were amazing, and the writing was beautiful. The love story is romantic and perfect. It just makes me smile at the sweet love that Wes and Sophie share. I loved the Broken Lake, and I can't wait for The Iron Quill to see how it all ends, and if they'll ever find a way to stay together. ...more

Her Abundant Joy was a nice historical romance story. The romance between Carson and Mariel was sweet and had me smiling sometimes. It was very well researched. I really liked the ending. There were a couple surprises that tugged at my emotions and made me feel sad and then glad for the characters. If you like historical fiction, I would highly recommend this book. ...more

It was a very sweet, nice novel. The beginning didn't quite capture my attention, but later I was captivated with the story and eager to see how it would end. I didn't really care for Morgan, I just didn't like her attitude. I really liked Pip; after he became 'hot' that is. He was super sweet and cute. I loved the romance in this novel. It was original and beautiful. I loved the scene when Morgan finally realizes her feelings for Pip.

The Thirteenth Chime was a thrill of a ride. In the over two hours that I read it, it gave me an eerie, adrenaline pulsing, spooky feeling. I became so intrigued with the story, and just couldn’t wait to find out the mystery behind the clock. I loved the plot, and how it all unfolded. It was very well researched and executed. The writing was nice. Maybe a little simple, but I liked it. Emma wrote great details, and the dialogue and scenes flowed along very well. The characters were all wonderful, all very well developed. I really liked David and his sense of humor. I liked how he went through all sorts of trouble to keep Destiny safe, he even overcame his fear of water. I kind of want Destiny to end up with David. But then, from the little we saw of Scott, I really liked him. He’s a good, kind man who deserves Destiny. But then David loves her, and I really liked him. Argh. Well, I guess I’ll just have to see what happens in the sequel. I also loved Leslie, she just sounds like an old adamant lady who won’t let anyone get in the way of what she wants, but then is also very kind and generous. She made me laugh :) I also really like the name Destiny, it’s really pretty.
Now, the cover. I really loved the cover. When I first had the book in my hands and looked at it, I realized that the iris and pupil was a clock. I thought that was so cool! I don’t know why I didn’t notice that before. I liked the coloring and the font. I also liked that Emma’s name was done in cursive. It made it more unique and personal.
I really enjoyed reading The Thirteenth Chime. It was spooky and interesting. I think it could make a good thriller movie. I’m excited to read the next book and find out what David is. Thanks Emma for the story, it was amazing! ...more

I fell in love with it from the very beginning. It swept me off my feet leaving me in a contented feeling of pure bliss. The writing was beautiful, pulling me into the story. The romance was wonderful. I loved all the characters. They had so much depth, and I felt their love and sorrow. Teagen was a great character. I loved her purity and innocence, but also that she wasn't perfect, and has a small portion of the dark side. And I loved Garreth. He was so perfect and swoon worthy. He was kind and gentle and so in love with Teagen. The meaning in this book was so deep and caught my attention. Jennifer did a superb job at creating a truly wonderul gem of a story, one that will stay close to my heart....more

It was kind of slow, and simple. The characters live very sheltered, controlled, organized lives. They have no need to worry. Their whole life is planned for them; their life isn’t even theirs. What made this story so enchanting to me was Cassia. I loved her voice, her thoughts. She was just an everyday girl, oblivious to the caged life she was living in. And then she began to wonder. What if there’s more to this life than what the Officials have decided? What would she do if she could choose- if she could choose who she loved, who she wanted to be with? Cassia and Ky’s love for each other was a quiet love, a beautiful love, blooming in the dead of night, unseen, forbidden, yet reaching out for the impossible, daring the night to take away its glow and determination.
I really liked Condie’s writing style, it was flowing, poetic like. It breathed with beauty and promises and possibilities. The book is kind of slow, there’s not much action, but sometimes, I like slow books like this. Books with a beautiful romance, and a character that is discovering who they really are. I loved the ending, especially the last chapter. It shows that Cassia will never give up, that she will fight forever. I guess I might be able to see why people might not like this book, but I loved it. I guess I’m just a hopeless romantic, and I can find treasures in almost any love story, whether the book be brilliant and action packed, or not. ...more

Little things sometimesLost Voices spoke to me like a dark reminiscent fairytale. It almost seemed like a very vague retelling of The Little Mermaid. Little things sometimes just reminded me of the classic tale. But Lost Voices brought a whole new world to mermaids, in a very compelling and ominously beautiful way. It was darkly fantastic, full of luscious intrigue and secret enchantments. Its foreboding melodious lull swept me into the world of these killer mermaid girls. The writing was beautiful, intricately woven with the mermaids haunting, stunning songs of death.
Nearly all the mermaids annoyed me, with their bitter and rude natures and their abrupt mood changes, but I think that’s kind of what Porter was going for. Mean, murderous mermaids molded from the horrors of their past. They did posses a lot of sadness and heartbreak, too much for girls their age when they changed, so I can understand how and why they act the way they do and why they use their voices to kill. What I did like was that Luce held true to the end. She could have given in to her cruel mermaid nature, but she fought it, striving to use her voice for good. The ending was sad, but also held a moment of promise, letting Luce know that not everything is bad and cruel and that there is hope.
Porter created a really original and intriguing dark story, and I’m excited to see what happens next. I think this may be a series that I would like to own.

It was beautifully written with the perfect feel for the Victorian age. The plot was intriguing, and the romance very nice. Finding out Nathaniel’s secret just firmly secured the intimacy and connection that he and Amelia shared. The haunting premonitions of Amelia’s sightseeing, while sometimes just instances of inconsequence for some people, revealed greater, harsher truths to others. I enjoyed reading Amelia’s story as she discovers her new found ability and finds her true love. The ending, while perhaps not wrapped up as nicely as it could have been, was still nice, especially the last part, which only cements Nathaniel’s and Amelia’s love and trust for each other.

Stories that work their way stealthily into your heart, and imbeds itself securely there, and refusing to disperse, leaving you utterly breathless and completely captivated with wondrous awe. Delirium did this for me. There are not many books that can speak to you the way Delirium does. Books that tug at your heartstrings, and make you believe in the impossible. Books that can express what love really is: an all consuming, brilliantly captivating, wrenchingly heartbreaking power that takes control over you. Love that turns your world around, shows you things you never saw before, makes everything brighter and more amazing than you ever thought they could be.
Delirium takes you on the journey of Lena, a normal girl in a loveless society, who is soon immersed in the unthinkable, has found herself facing the most deadly thing ever known to mankind. Love. Lena begins to explore this completely new and forbidden emotion. An emotion that people shun and fear. An emotion that could get her killed. And in the end, she is tried more than she could have possibly imagined. My heart breaks for her, and yet it soars with hers as she discovers this whole new, enthralling world.
Delirium is such a uniquely, enchanting, astounding story. It was beautifully written, brilliantly told. And the ending. I don’t know if I’ve read a more heartbreaking, incredible ending. The last several pages I was on the edge. I couldn’t read fast enough. The story had me captive, refusing to let go until the very last word. I don’t know how I can possibly wait until 2012 for Pandemonium to come out! When February 1 rolls around, get your hands on this book, and don’t let go. Prepare yourself for a wonderful, beautiful love story that hopefully touches you the way it did me.
