I had no idea this happened during WWII (and well afterwards). Wow. Just...wow. Gripping. I am so grateful that I read this book, so I could 4.5 stars
I had no idea this happened during WWII (and well afterwards). Wow. Just...wow. Gripping. I am so grateful that I read this book, so I could in a small way bear witness to yet another atrocity men inflicted on their fellow man. It reminded me of "Sarah's Key", so if you liked that book, you'll love this one.
The audio version of this book was phenomenal. Especially the author interview at the end. Highly recommended....more

I listened to 85% of this on audio, and read the last 15%. Sadly, I think listening to this one on audio was a mistake. It is just too hard for me to listen to a woman read the things said by men. Too distracting. And with all of the dialogue in this book, I was distracted a lot.
Still a worthwhile read and I intend to read the final installment of the series.
