Percy is a great kid. I don't know why this book in particular made me think that. Percy made some sacrifice, like in all the other books, but none really stand out in this book. I only gave it two stars because there wasn't enough "umph". It wasn't scary enough. The big battle wasn't threatening enough, in my opinion. The prophecy didn't even hold much. On top of that, the "really scary place that even Clarisse didn't want to enter" wasn't that well, scary. Sure they met their fair share of monsters, but they got through them with such ease, it was boring. There was a part that said Percy and Annabeth had been fighting together for so long that they barely needed to talk when battling a monster. Annabeth got on my nerves with Luke and thatshe can't decide between Luke and Percy. Percy just seems to fall in love with Calypso too fast. Annabeth should have seen that Percy didn't really feel anything for Rachel, but Riordan just had to put that in to, I don't know, amuse readers. For me, it just made the daughter of Athena look stupid. Lastly, I have a problem with the whole "born out of thought" deal with Annabeth. Riordan bends stuff to his will or in simpler words, writes his book without giving enough explanation. Does he think that it's sufficient enough for his young readers? Maybe to some, like the ones that can ignore the explanation because they like what he's doing, but to those it doesn't, will think Riordan thinks they're that stupid. Of course Riordan has done this many times before with other things, but this one stood out to me.
