A perfect rom-com as they would say. I love the characters, I love the inspiration behind it and the motivations that the characters have. Having Bryomy as an ESL teacher does bring a lot to this book that I really like because even though all the characters are white, you do get some diversity in the background. I love that we have a bitch of a character who is not nice in any way, shape or form. I think I really like mean characters in every book, no idea why but I do. And the love story between Bryomy and Jack is very kind. I love that they had that force proximity along with 2 years behind them going into this routine and the way that Jack was so in love with her. Oh my God I loved it! Along with that I think that the classic third act breakup was very well justified and didn't come out of left field because so many rom-coms have that, I'm just like please give me a reason. Though in this book, they gave Jack a very valid reason!
On a side note, listening to the name Bryomy was wild but what was even more wild was seeing how it was spelled.
4/5 ? Thank you netgalley for the audio recording ARC of this book!...more

It handles the relationship very well and although it does have that terrible third act where they get into a fight I still really enjoyed it because they knew that it was leading up to it because our boy did do her dirty but he acknowledged it the whole way through which I think is very good.
I do love the forced proximity In books I think that is just a very cute bonding and I love it every time
I love the friends that they have and that they actually have personalities and stuff just being like supportive friend #1 supportive friend #2 The anxiety and depression that these characters go through is very nice to be brought up I know like a lot of books are touching on mental health and how characters struggle with it but it's always refreshing when it's done in like a good manner
I will say I listen to the audiobook before it launched thanks to netgalley and the only thing that I didn't love was a female narrator 's English accent + whenever Silas would start talking I never felt like it was Silas seems like a different man this narrator is still very good he is just not what I have in my head as the voice of Silas you know?
That being said I would like to think netgalley for this ARC And I want to see more from Ana Holguin!...more
I love seeing fat male leads My problem with it is that he was super tall and I don't think he was actually that fat but anyway

I listen to the audiobook and I hated this narrator. He from what I can hear sounds like a white British man Which wouldn't be an issue if this book was not completely in the United States with the male lead being Scottish and our female lead is black and that is a huge part of her identity. The way he spoke Xeni made me cringe every freaking time Because some men can pull off doing a woman's voice but this dude could not it was just super high-pitched + he tried doing an American accent it did not work he could not pull off the sass of a black woman I hated this narrator for this book give me any black woman please she would do amazing because it's so much easier for women to do male voices than it is for men to do female voices. I say this as an avid audiobook listener men don't know how to change their way of speaking because women change their tone of voice for literally everything every word is a different picture whereas men are typically very monotonous they don't change their pitch very often but even if they do it's not seen as like odd which is like a whole discussion about toxic masculinity and femininity which I'm not going to get into on this book review.
I like the writing I like how inclusive it is but I did not care for the sex scenes it's not because they were freak or anything I think hand in hand with this narrator's voice him saying clit many times hurt my soul I don't know it felt very much like this is how they're doing the act and not like here's the sexy fantasy
Also I do love both main characters are bisexual and that definitely came into Mason 's storyline a lot because sometimes they'll be like oh yeah we are both bisexual but we are a het appearing couple and being bisexual is not important to the story we just have that in common. I am very happy about this author but I hated that audiobook...more

It's always really comforting when you have authors that understand and can put into words what you've felt for your whole life. this book is very funny and I think that having the super thick accents in writing helped. Lewis Hancox's experience with having people who support you mirrors what i went through where i got upset bc I wanted everyone to be perfect right away but it can be really hard accepting that it just takes time....more

Higgins gives us a journey through their life and how being a black fat femme person has given them hardships and how not having representation in media can also shape what other people think of you at a glance. It's always one thing to be marginalized in one way but having a trifecta of diversity can make it very difficult to find your place and ppl who accept you. I picked this book up as someone who's white, fat, and trans. As someone who's also fat and non-binary I loved hearing about their journey to accepting themself. I wasn't familiar with Jonathan Higgins before this book but it was a very good read and I'm definitely gonna be following their socials and looking forward to more of their work! 4/5?...more

The art is amazing and I love the diverse characters it's so refreshing to not have white cishet people as the main characters especially in a graphic novel. I also adore that these characters KNOW who they are and are just falling in love together, the fact that Cog uses They/He pronouns and it's never blatantly stated is top tier perfection. I've read this before on Webtoon and I'll read it again in any book form! I love reading Webtoons and I'm always so excited when they come out with books for them 5 stars Thank you Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group along with NetGalley for the e-ARC...more
