I have been reading it for several moments of my life. And every time I reread I am reminded of how much I love this story. In short, this is a story of a woman who disliked another woman and thought she hated her because of the strange feelings she provoked. Over time Hotei begins to question her "hatred" for Ebisu. Hotei starts helping Ebisu on take care of her niece and I love those moments where the child is super cute and there is this feeling of family. When Hana asks Hotei if she loves her aunt too, Hotei begins to wonder if she really isn't in love with Ebisu. Anyway ... I wish there were more lesbian manga with families where the couple had a child together. This is an old manga from 2010 and so far I haven't found another where the characters take care of a child together (besides Ohana holoholo but this was so fucked up). Oh well ......more

To begin with, don't expect a good end to it. The story is quite heavy and I believe that the author has created very well its main character, who by the way is a psychopath or sociopath, who knows? Almost everyone in this story develops some sort of mental issue, either because of the continuing abuse or because they were already like that to begin with. Again, the story deals with quite heavy topics such as sexual abuse, bullying, rape, etc. Although the story has left me uncomfortably many times, I couldn't stop reading until the end. I needed to understand some of the mysteries. Anyway...4,8 stars...more

I was very annoyed and disgruntled after reading "Lies we tell ourselves" and I decided to post on GoodReads asking for recommendations from books written by black or other woc within the lesbian literature and that deal with cultural identity.
Cintia recommended this book to me and after reading the synopsis I HAD to buy it.
Let me tell you my experience.
The book chronicles the life of Linny, a young woman who lives in a small town in the South at a time when black lynching was still allowed in some parts of the United States.
Linny had spent a good deal of time tending to her great-grandmother, who, unlike other women, do business and don't prostrate themselves before men, managed and owned large estates in the city, as well as a store.
When her great-grandmother dies, Linny thinks this is the end. In addition to suffering from the absence of the woman who had been her mother, she would also have to return to her parents' home and live under the abuse of her biological mother. Just like getting dressed in dresses and dodging wedding requests.
Going back to the book review ... Linny gets a surprise when her great-grandmother's lawyer reads the will and says that all the land and business was left for her.
Her great-grandmother's children are very angry at this, for they proclaim that she deceived the poor old woman and stole what was their right.
It is also important to note that this is not the only reason that many characters in Linny's family are irritated by the will, it is observed throughout the narrative that more than the feeling of "betrayal", there is also that of chauvinism. Linny is a woman who should have been married for a long time and the idea that she, a single woman, childless and walking around town wearing pants, looking into men's eyes and talking to them as if she were one of them to manage most of the city's business is shocking and against standards.
After a while the character ends up being in charge of hosting in her new house the new teacher of the city. This is where the theme of the romance comes in, as everyone must already imagine (£Þ¨Œ£Þ)
Coley is beautiful, educated, graduated in universities and a place where black people need not fear whites or even death.
The clash of realities between Linny and Colete is huge and very interesting.
Coley several times comments on how dark her skin is, how curly her hair is. Even though she is an educated woman who fights for the rights of her people, she still retains racism against her own identity. Linny is a black woman who looks almost white, her eyes green, her hair curly.
Coley always tells her how beautiful Linny is and how she could marry well and easy by having lighter skin, while she can not stay long in the sun because her skin darkens even more. ;£þ¡ó£þ
Following this reasoning, Linny ends up discovering terrible things from the past of her family and the narrative makes us think how terrible this era was for the african american people.
Anyway ... I've been extending myself too much.
Let's go to some main points before I drop spoilers.
Why 5 stars?
-> Chemistry between the characters (love relationship) 10/10
-> Matters of great relevance mentioned and discussed in the book (Racism within the Black Community itself, Slavery, Ku Klux Klan and the terror that black people felt of this group, chauvinism, rape of black women by the Ku Klux Klan and the owners of slaves, child abuse, schooling, lynchings, etc.) 10/10
-> Developing Relationships (A Slow Burn. The romance is present in the book, but it is not really the main topic of the narrative, but don't be afraid, folks who love romance you will not even miss it.) 10/10

I'm completely in love with this story! A lonely monster girl meets a human in the woods. She fears being attacked, but discovers that the human girl is blind. In her solitude she lowers her guard and befriends her. A friendship based on lies, for she does not tell what she really is and say stories of books she had read to the girl who thinks she is a traveler. The human girl, Lily, gives the monster girl a name, Heath. In time Heath comes to fall in love with Lily and after learning that Lily's blindness may have been because of something she had done in the past she decides to tell the truth about her identity and her feelings. The story is pretty cute and seeing these two girls so unique and solitary opening to each other is charming. Also, the quality in the kisses between these two ... !!...more

A promise is made in exchange for information and Emma ends up harboring the woman who murdered a man in her home, as well as looking for her son. The story is quick and interesting. The romance is present, but it doesn't completely steal the narrative's focus. Overall a great story. 4.5 stars...more

Siyeon talks about her feelings, as she has never forgotten her and Eunha ends up giving her a chance again. The problem is ... Siyeon's sister is controlling and obsessive and doesn't want her with Eunha. The lover of Siyeon's sister, who is a psychopath, ends up finding with Eunha for no reason and forced her to take a potion. After many fights, toxic and meaningless,Siyeon asks her sister to erase the memories that Eunha has of her. Anyway ... The stories had several holes that the author doesn't explain, the ending was cumbersome and meaningless. Did Eunha forgive Siyeon? And what happened to Siyeon's sister? What did they talked? On one hand the narrative has a good deal of smut and this is an original content written by the author. All the desire that can't be contained when in the presence of the other, and the little moments stolen here and there that aren't completely culminated are exciting. On the other hand the whole plot is just a repetition of the cartoon. Even the dialogues! And it's not in style: fanfic uses only some the plot of the show and some dialogues. It's the type: everything is exactly the same except for a few little paragraphs of original content here and there. I'm used to reading fanfic that uses the content of the show but that the plot is totally re-written by the author ... Reading everything I've already watched in a fanfic is just boring. That's why I don't know how to rate this ... If it wasn't for the smut, I believe I would give it 0 stars. Although I like omegaverse, I find it so strange when the character is possessive with the other without even asking before. The act of calling the other character "my alpha" without at least asking for consent or being sure that she is really yours is just ... Not very appealing to me ... It made me a little uncomfortable. I know that omegaverse uses these elements of dominance and possessiveness ( a lot like bdsm even), but I need the characters to offer a spoken consent to start calling the other as their "possession"....more
