Read, fittingly, on a long train journey.
This was a thrill to read, it's beautifully written and the way the three narratives are woven together is very skillful - despite the multi generational approach and the various parent-child dynamics at play, it was easy to follow.
Heartbreaking in places ("And I you, more than anything"), and very uncomfortable in others, but I was captivated from the first chapter. Wonderful storytelling....more

I was hooked from the beginning, and as Alice's narration continued to spiral and became less and less reliable, I found myself both squirming/cringing and whipping through the pages at lightning speed.
It's a wild ride, and as another reviewer said, one that you have to stick with until the end to really get the full effect. It's incredibly creative in its physical presentation too, so I'd definitely recommend reading the the book rather than listening to an audio version....more
