Book 3, The Wolf of Kisimul Castle, was just as intriguing and engaging as the previous two books in her Highland Isles series.
Honestly, I can’t think of a single thing I didn’t love about this romantic tale. Alec, the hero, played his role perfectly as the lone wolf, widowed laird struggling to raise two children in a mostly abandoned castle many claim to be cursed. Surprisingly his knucklehead act of revenge backfired in a verra surprising way. Mairi, the feisty, sassy heroine, may have been the captive here, but she certainly soon captured Alec’s lonesome heart. Yeah, this bonny lass gave as good as she got. She constantly kept him on his toes and wondering what she was bloody well up to next. I loved her feistiness, kind heartedness, and willingness to put her life on the line to save those she loved. She also gets a high five from me for holding out until the halfway mark before becoming intimate with him.
If you haven’t read the previous books, well, I suggest you get right on that. Cameo appearances of main characters from those books appear in this one and add to the sense of family and drama as a heated, intense, life threatening scenario unfolds near the end.
Overall, I give this one a loud wolf whistle and a big round of applause for being so delightfully entertaining, folks. Here’s to hoping you’ll feel the same.
Romance Safety Gang: (view spoiler)[ Alec’s timid, unhappy wife was murdered almost a year earlier. He blames Mairi’s deceased, much older husband for robbing his two children of their mother. She’s about to marry the replacement laird. Stealing her to raise his children, run his mostly abandoned castle seems like a sound plan of revenge. But things are often never as they seem, in more ways than one. She’s a widow who is a virgin, because their marriage could not be consummated. Alec did not love his wife. It was an arranged marriage. She did her duty of having two children but wanted to leave. (hide spoiler)]

I’ve shied away from serial killer drama based books over the years. Mostly because they often tend to focus more on solving the crime and less on a romantic aspect. This one definitely used the backdrop as a springboard to unite these two destined to be together lovebirds. Though a considerable amount of time was spent on pointing fingers and trying to connect the dots, the romance between this great main couple did not get lost in the shuffle. It was always there.
Lucas really had the patience of a saint. It seemed he would wait forever and a day just to spend time with his lady love. Serenity took her sweet time getting on board with what was right in front of her. Namely, this absolutely gorgeous, perfect guy. I get her reasons though. It broke my heart to find out what they were. Good thing for us Lucas is not a quitter. He knows a good thing when he sees it so that was all the motivation he needed.
I must confess the first smex scene between them wasn’t all that great for me. It just wasn’t scripted as well as I thought this couple deserved. Considering how romantic this guy was, I’m thinking it didn’t fit and could have been better. Looking back, I’m pretty sure I fast forwarded through latter scenes, too.
There are no obvious clues given who the next book will feature. I’m keeping my fingers crossed it will be the hot brother sheriff and his mysterious, quiet neighbor named Autumn. Either way, I’m very excited to see what’s next in this great new series.

The henchmen could also be used to describe Keir, the hero/perceived devil of an enforcer, whose assigned task is to carry out his laird brother’s decrees of punishment to anyone who crosses the clan’s rules, including neighboring enemies and fellow clansmen. Of course, we get to see the softer side of this tough guy’s persona and find out things are not always as they seem.
This “I want to go on an adventure...I want to be brave heroine’s mantra at the beginning came across a little like Frodo wanting to leave The Shire in Lord of the Rings. Yeah, they both got more than they bargained for, folks. No, she didn’t almost fall into a fiery inferno, but that dunk in the icy river probably felt similar to her. You see, this English lass may be wild about Scotland’s beauty, but she is not a fan of its bodies of water. There was an attempt to use this to add a slight touch of extra drama near the end, but along with the odd Avenger type costume she switched into, I found her coming across rather silly instead. Her words would have simply sufficed. She has a good heart though and is a straight shooter in expressing her opinion.
Unfortunately, there were some other bumps in the road that lowered my rating. Their first almost intimate encounter at 30% had Grace unrealistically wanton considering her innocent state. It simply felt too much was unleashed at once, especially her smexy talk. It’s not a good thing when I found myself wanting to look away and feeling somewhat embarrassed for her. Of course, this devil of a mountain of muscle and tattoos loved every second of it. Including at 75% when it happened again. To me, it felt overly fabricated for the sake of being erotic. I also wasn’t a fan of how she confessed she got her first lesson in learning how to be lusty. Sorry, honey, but confessing to being a peeping Tom is just not cool.
Well, not surprisingly, Grace doesn’t take it graciously when Keir becomes a cur and whisks her away for his own reasons. Up until near the end though, the writing and story seemed to flow and was very engaging. You sensed Keir’s pain and reluctance to continue living the life he had been assigned. But the devil is always in the details, some of which left me feeling rather lost and not overly impressed with how the ending was scripted. Not so much regarding what transpired, but how it was written. Mainly starting with the show down with the traitor scene, which is a dang shame since I enjoyed the majority of this book. Perhaps since I read an advanced reader copy, it was edited before final publication.
Just know, overall, I did enjoy this series, and here’s to hoping you will feel the same.

Viktoria is a broken mafia don daughter heroine hiding behind a rude, cold demeanor and icy stare. It seems to be the essence of her being because we are told that repeatedly, even in another series where she briefly appeared. Here, however, graphic, brutal verbiage/details are revealed in the form of sexual assault flashbacks that shed some light into that persona. Personally, I do not need or prefer vivid images to get a clear picture of horrific abuse. A simple sentence summing up she was a victim, now struggling to be a survivor would have sufficed for me. I’m always especially disappointed when there is no trigger content warning or hint of it in the synopsis. Because, let’s face it, that type of content is disturbing and hits home with some in a very deep, personal way. They especially deserve the option of knowing it is lingering there, so they can decide to dive in or walk away before turning a single page. Same goes for readers who simply want to avoid it altogether, too. The first book also contained heroine horrific abuse/rape, so I'm hoping its just coincidence and not a new trend with her writing.
Pavel is slowly but surely breaking out of his shell as well, as he evolves from his forced upon him crypt keeper/torturer/killer role to a more main stream mob position. Yeah, this dark bad fella actually has a good hearted soul yearning to step back into the light and live again. He definitely won me over with his never wavering concern, big broad shoulders of support for Viktoria to cry/lean upon. He was alpha possessive but at the same time wasn't clingy and knew when to give her space.
Both with tragic pasts, this unlikely pair seem to connect at first glance. As usual, this author does a good job of weaving family mob business into her romantic tales. I enjoyed watching the older brothers put their heads and guns together to eliminate threats as they popped up, including dealing with not dear at all daddy. The take down of the evil villain took me by surprise in a good way. I thought it was a quick clever, appropriate wrap up.

Though I liked Hades and Persephone's love story in book 1, Neon Gods, I felt the erotic factor was simply too much for my personal taste. From hijacking the story line to other embarrassing for them elements I'm not going to go into right now, just know Electric Idol thankfully focused a lot on the main couple's budding, emotional relationship and the dilemma they found themselves in. Sure, there are several lengthy, graphic steamy, smexy scenes here, too, but they are kept on a private level.
Oh, gods, that scene where Eros reveals what he's about to do and Psyche's mostly calm as a cucumber reaction! The best part of the whole book, IMO! His deep down, doesn't really want to be bad meshes with her genuinely kind, selfless, mistress of a different type of warfare perfectly.
I am so looking forward to the new Zeus getting hitched with one totally cool, smoking hot, will likely teach him a thing or two about lightening bolts herself kind of Hera. Yeah, she's a take no prisoner's or lip from anyone woman warrior. No, I'm not psychic. It was a reveal at the end of this book I was glad to see announced. Unfortunately, there is an upcoming book in the way (Wicked Beauty) that I will likely skip before that story gets scripted.
I'll end this review by commenting I feel this whole series is a clever twist on creating a constantly revolving contemporary greek mythology theme using romantic tales.

So here's a quick drive-by review, folks. I read this book as part of an eight book bundle of suit wearing hotties (The Suits Boxset). But, of course, it and the other seven books are available for purchase separately.
Beck, the hero, despite his past knucklehead, completely clueless when it comes to being in a selfless love relationship and workaholic ways history, really was Stella's savior here. Even better he did so by mostly just having her back, listening, and letting her come to her own realizations and dreams. Not that he wasn't more than willing to throw a punch or two on her behalf, if she'd only just let him. You see, this gal needed to grab a mental life line to move on from a mind blowing breakup that shattered her world and trust. Beck was like the pirate captain of a ship fate sent sailing by looking for bounty to loot, yet finding her the ultimate prize instead.
I have to admit I wasn't a fan of the man Beck was first presented. Nope, his narcissistic history had him pegged as a heart breaker himself. Not until he clearly started demonstrating he really was changing because of Stella that I swayed to his side.
Stella was trying to be strong, but I found her simpering, wimpy, and too accommodating at times. She got in her head and heart where she needed to be eventually though. So good for her. Some may even welcome and fully embrace the gracious vibes she always gave off.
Color me crazy, but I find it unlikely Stella would have been sent the invite to begin with. But I rolled with it. Surprisingly, this main couple's romance unfolded without a lot of unexpected events. Numerous, lengthy, very graphic, play by play, touch by touch, "Oh, Beck! ... now!" (eye roll) scorching hot steamy scenes did kick in after these two fated to be together lovebirds spent some time together. I unashamedly started skimming those to give them privacy.
Parts of the story were predictable and even stereotypical, but I enjoyed it all the same, especially gloating more than just a little that Beck became a much better man because of Stella.
Romance Safety Gang: (view spoiler)[ Stella has only been intimate with her ex-fiance. They've been together since high school. Beck would pick women who seemed content with low expectations of his time and attention, which, of course, meant they didn't stick around long term. No OW/OM after meeting. Celibate during brief separation. (hide spoiler)]

Sherborn, The roguish, handsome Duke of Danbury, sure got more than he bargained for when he was tasked by the Prime Minister to stamp out all smuggling in his country. It’s turned the Ton on its side when he starts to be a tad too successful in doing so. Caught in his unsuspecting web is Eleanor, a strong confident heroine, who has mastered this trade and become a close friend to someone in a particularly very high place.
This vowed to bachelorhood for at least a few more years hero becomes smitten with Eleanor until he starts to connect the dots. The tide turns for both of them in a big way as their attraction turns to mistrust, and they are both made an offer they cannot refuse.
I was actually surprised how their relationship mostly smoothly played out from that point on. They felt like a couple melting together as one and seemed to stride right into their HEA. To be honest, I was expecting more conflict between them.

It takes talent to land there, my fellow romance book loving friends. I can’t think of a single time I’ve been disappointed in her writing.
I’d say this book could be described in two sections. The majority was the “before then the latter was the “after marriage of this main couple. Faolan was the admirable, alpha protective, hardworking, good guy, destined to be laird one day hero and Cora completed that dream come true with her feistiness and determination to have a say in her own destiny. The unusual way she wound up in Faolan’s arms to begin with was proof fate was more than happy to lend a helping hand to both of them. With some classic evil, scheming, vengeful showdowns, and take downs, along with graphic steamy scenes, these two perfect for each other lovebirds survive the storms thrown at them and come out even stronger than before.
Oh, I’m keeping my fingers crossed sooner rather than later Rolfe and Cormac are both next in line to get their own sassy, leading ladies and HEAs told in this Highland Rogues series. Yeah, they were potential hero husbands for Cora, but didn’t fully realize until too late what had slipped through their fingers. Keep them coming Ms. Wine. I’ll be back for more!

You get what the synopsis promises in this 148 page adversaries to in love, Christmas themed, very graphic, steamy romantic tale, folks. A feisty but light hearted, doesn’t back down, romantic at heart, matchmaker meets her match and makes a connection all of her own. Flames of passion ignite and consume Callie and Graham, the main couple, after sparring words, throwing down the gauntlet, and vowing to do whatever is necessary to see to the happiness and well being of their esteemed parents. These two perfect for each other love birds keep an eagle eye out for what the other is up to, all without noticing their ploys just keep drawing them closer and closer to each other.
You’ll have to give Graham a little time to completely come around. He’s not sold on the notion of marriage at the moment as soundly as Callie is. However, in my opinion, he makes up for it in a dramatic, make your heart melt, Mr. Darcy would be proud, type move at the end.
As always, this author woos me completely over with her seamless, engaging writing and intriguing main couples. Whether it be a lengthy love story or a quick read in one sitting, I can’t get enough of her sweet and smexy romantic tales.
Romance Safety Gang: (view spoiler)[ Graham doesn’t offer marriage after their impulsive, few hours together quick tryst. He had not planned on getting married for at least a few more years..cause he had assumed he'd be wanting to enjoy more of his bachelorhood days. Nor sure how some of you will feel about that. An obstacle popped up seemingly making them officially unable to be a couple. Virgin heroine. Brief mention he has had some no strings, lust only encounters with a few OW over the years. Had been considering getting a mistress right before meeting Callie. I got the feeling he'd made the offer to her if he had thought she'd accept. I lowered one star because I actually wished they had not gone all the way. It made not putting up a fight for love when it counted all the more traumatic for this avid romantic at heart, which is likely silly ole me, folks. (hide spoiler)]
P.S.: I lowered one star only because I actually wished they had not gone all the way. It made not putting up a fight for love when it counted all the more traumatic for this avid romantic at heart, which is likely just silly ole me being picky, folks.
Title: Mistletoe and Mischief, Series: Forever Yours (Book 10), Author: Stacy Reid, Pages: 148, stand-alone, short quick read, Christmas backdrop, adversaries to in love, very steamy scenes, no OW/OM drama, reluctant to marry hero, virgin heroine, romantic wrap-up.

If you are already into or want to dip your literary toe in the romance waters of dangerous drama filled paranormal shifter romances, special ops, andIf you are already into or want to dip your literary toe in the romance waters of dangerous drama filled paranormal shifter romances, special ops, and/or private security themed tales, Katie Reus could likely really rock your world, folks. Especially if sizzling hot instant attraction, alpha possessive, protective heroes and perfect for them sassy heroines float your boat, as well. Those are common elements in all her books.
In this particular case and series, dragon shifters rule the roost. Well, with a lot of help from their old and newly acquainted shifter friends (witches, vampires, lions, tigers, and bears..Oh, my!). Each book is a steamy stand-alone but connected to the same on-going, world upheaval conflict.
Rhys, the hero, wasn’t looking for love, but it sure found him. In fact, his dragon heart was brimming over with a searing to the soul, unquenchable thirst for revenge, leaving no room for anything else. However, one look at Dallas, the knocked his scales and socks right off, gorgeous, powerful witch, and he was the one done for. Even the big secret between them did not phase him when push came to shove. Yeah, there was no knuckleheaded thinking, hesitation, or moments of doubt on his part, my fellow romance book loving friends.
Dallas did a time or two question their future together. Mainly because she just didn’t quite give this dedicated dragon his full due. Steadfast and loyal seemed to run through his veins as pure as his dragon blood. He always had her back, right from the get go. Sacrifice and a strong will to see good triumph over evil were some of Dallas’s driving forces.
Oddly, despite everyone cooing, gushing, and loving on Dallas’s baby pet dragon, Willow, I struggled with trying to capture a realistic mental vision of that fictional creature. I think it all started when it was compared to a rhinoceros. For some reason, I couldn’t get that image out of my head. I kept picturing a huge, awkward rhino with small bat like wings! Yeah, color me crazy, but I didn’t think it was scripted to fit the cute as a button image meant to be portrayed. Since it was mentioned a lot, it irked me I wasn’t enchanted by the supposedly little, big guy. Ultimately, I had to create my own version in my head and just roll with the general concept.
What I do know is this author never seems to fail to deliver me likable main couples I can’t help but root for. Here’s to hoping this review has been helpful to you in some way and that you’ll feel the same.

Here’s my quick Kindle Unlimited review. As the third book of this series I’ve read so far, I’ve got some catching up to do. As usualRating: 4.5 stars
Here’s my quick Kindle Unlimited review. As the third book of this series I’ve read so far, I’ve got some catching up to do. As usual, this author keeps me fully engaged with her alpha possessive, jealous manly men and sassy leading ladies. Melody (aka Miller) was one cool character. I loved the unique concept of her job and the unusual way she was dragged into the hero’s Greek criminal lord’s underworld life. There was some surprisingly sweet, softness lurking behind her haunted past and tough as nails persona though In fact, she ultimately came across a lot more vulnerable than I expected.
As an avid mafia romance reader, Christopher clearly was right up my hero alley. Tall, dark, handsome, and a man with an important mission. This guy got a whole lot more than he bargained for when he unconventionally arranged to hire Melody.
Before finishing/posting this review, I did read the next book (The Client), because, well, I just couldn’t wait to get my Kindle loving hands on Fenway’s HEA, since he is mentioned here as an instigator of mayhem. Unfortunately, it was just a so-so read for me. IMHO, it lacked better intriguing writing in regards to the characters themselves and needed more of a kick to the run of the mill, predictable romantic plot that rolled out.
Make no mistake though. I am excited about eventually reading all these while they are still available on Kindle Unlimited. I do really enjoy this author's writing style.
Title: The Negotiator, Series: The Professionals (Book 7), Author: Jessica Gadziala, Pages: 233, stand-alone but part of a series, alpha Greek crime lord hero, negotiator for hire heroine, very graphic smex scenes, graphic flashback of previous attempted rape scene, no love triangle, no OW/OM drama, romance safe, some violence.

If the book synopsis appeals to you, my fellow Scottish romance book loving friends, I have a verra strong feeling you will likely enjoy this first boIf the book synopsis appeals to you, my fellow Scottish romance book loving friends, I have a verra strong feeling you will likely enjoy this first book of a brand new series by the talented Amy Jarecki. You pretty much get exactly what is promised there. Instant at first glance attraction grows into a budding romance which blooms into much more. Intermixed with danger and drama of the Scottish vs English feud of that time period, all while the “thinks their love will be forbidden main couple dance around each other until their true feelings will now longer be denied.
Ailish and James, the main couple steadfastly loyal to Robert the Bruce, repeatedly find themselves thrown together by fate and circumstances, as they tackle head on what must be done to rescue family and lands from their shared enemy’s hands. James was always the carefully calculating, weighing all the risks yet quick to jump into action hero, while Ailish had me a time or two thinking this lass would have been better off just doing what she was told. One impulsive decision in particular backfired in a big way. Of course, you could argue if she hadn't had gumption to begin with she might not have had the courage to make the trip resulting in her meeting her hero.
It all plays out at a pace that is easy to keep up with. I was actually quite surprised by the no nonsense, let’s just get right to it, romance wrap-up conclusion. It’s up to you how much detail you need or choose to absorb regarding the heavily charged politics and war driven violence of the era. As someone who reads for romance only, I can still appreciate the effort that goes into all the historical details this author weaves into her romantic tales. It’s done in such a way it is not overwhelming, too.
I got to say this is the first time I actually remember reading a romance featuring this particular famous character. This author gave heart to a man often portrayed as black hearted and ruthless.
I do know that I will keep coming back to her for more romantic tales and adventures, as she is one of my verra favorite writers in this genre.

If spoilers do get revealed for this book, folks, it won’t be from me. Uh..uh...Nope, mum’s the word. That’s what I’m shooting for heRating: 4.5 stars
If spoilers do get revealed for this book, folks, it won’t be from me. Uh..uh...Nope, mum’s the word. That’s what I’m shooting for here, anyway. All I’ll say is there is a “huge twist near the end that was quite a surprise. In fact, it switches from a murder mystery backdrop, which is mentioned in the synopsis, to include a ------ element. See, I kept my promise. (wink)
I can and will openly admit this author knows how to write an engaging, comes to life on the pages, very graphic, smexy, romantic read with a main couple that banters back and forth until they ultimately work out their differences. In this case, there is quite a doozy of a one. A world's collide kind of situation. Usually a book of this type is openly marketed to a specific fan base. However, due to the element of surprise, it is kept on the absolute silent, low down here. I am a tad worried there will be a few mixed reactions to the different vibe/direction this book takes. Mainly just because it was very unexpected. Original is what I consider it though. Meaning, it was cool with me, because I do wade in those literary waters from time to time.
From the sizzling, at first glance, attraction/chemistry, these two destined to be together soulmates can’t help but gravitate towards one another. They soon can’t get each other out of their minds and hearts. One of them in particular won’t be swayed from this life changing, love connection.
Rafe Alexander was one smooth, tall, dark, handsome, cool drink of water. Hhmm Hhmm Hhmm. He was like a brooding, possessive alpha tiger and a cuddly teddy bear all rolled into one. Cat (aka Catherine), the heroine, didn’t stand a chance against such hotness and charm. Good thing she is sassy, feisty, and confident enough to handle all of him.
I wish I could linger here and go into more detail, but that jeopardizes the promise I just made. Just know I am really looking forward to reading the next sequel in this “to be continued series.

Ciar, the hero, was so incredibly swoon worthy in how he interacted with the heroine I don’t even know where to begin. My, oh my,Rating: 4 - 4.5 stars
Ciar, the hero, was so incredibly swoon worthy in how he interacted with the heroine I don’t even know where to begin. My, oh my, Hmm...Hmm...Hmm. He had me right away with his Scottish alpha protective manly but always incredibly caring, gentleman ways. Good gravy, it was so sweet how this warrior type, ruggedly handsome lad chatted and danced with Emma, the blind, sweet, sheltered, innocent, but verra courageous leading lady. Already well acquainted childhood friends, they seemed to have a perfect, natural rapport that was a sheer pleasure to witness and watch grow into so much more.
Emma may have been sheltered and protected her whole life but this lovely lass had gumption when it really counted. She’d swallow her fear and do whatever she felt was necessary, especially when it came to protecting Ciar. You’ll have to decide for yourself if she was always wise in doing so. I for one was impressed and rolled with it, folks. So naturally it was great to see these two well deserving love birds get their HEA.
Starting after the anticipated, inevitable fall-out drama was wrapped up regarding Ciar’s circumstances, I did feel the storyline had peaked then dropped off to a slower, steady, marching to a marital drum now beat. I guess you could say mainly after he had to fight for their love. They said “I do so I thought the book was basically done, but it continued 35 pages or so more, taking us along with them into new territory. This ending felt like a favorite of mine format I've often seen romantic tales in this genre begin.
I thought Emma's few, brief, weeping, mental meltdowns, embarrasing injury, and first married now smex scene at her new home was a tad overdone. This gal had been so strong I wasn't sure how I felt about her now crying and feeling so insecure. It did continue to give Ciar even more reason and opportunities to shine as a loving, doting husband.
In either case, I’m really glad I got to spend time with these two verra likeable, sweet together, clear to to verra end main characters.
Having read all the books so far, I must say books 1, 2, 6, 7, and 8 were my personal favorites. Don’t let the first two words of the titles trick you into thinking these are cookie cutter romances. Each one is a unique stand-alone romantic tale, just part of the same series. Keep them coming, Ms. Jarecki, because I’ll keep coming back for more!

Cormac, the Sutherland chieftain hero, could not have been more swoon worthy here, folks. Fro** Prequel to Borderland Rebels series**
Rating: 4.5 stars
Cormac, the Sutherland chieftain hero, could not have been more swoon worthy here, folks. From his first glimpse of Isolde, she pretty much stole this caring, alpha leader of his clan’s heart. Talked into doing something he considered rather hair brained at first, he’s desperate enough to help his people he’ll try just about anything to relieve their suffering. However, even then he finds honor demands more of him, especially when it comes to Isolde. I also liked how he was on the shy side when it came to approaching/interacting with her. Unlike his minutes younger twin brother, who seemed to have inherited a lot of confident swagger.
Isolde isn’t one to sit around while her future is being sold down the river by uncaring, abusive, manipulative forces. No, thanks to a well kept secret, she’s quite capable of donning armor and putting up a fight. Of course, she’ll have to dig into her own bag of deception to pull all this off. Good thing for her, fate steps in by sending her a verra good man to have her back along the way. I must admit this is where my imagination always gets really stretched. In this case, I’m surprised the jig wasn’t up every time she spoke.
As a super quick, easy read for me, I flew through these pages. Being a prequel to this author’s Borderland Rebels series, I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.

With a whole new strategy right from the get go and an unexpected, heart wrenching, huge twist near the end, all bets are off on just how far these destined to be together again lovebirds will go to achieve their goal. Fortunately for them, family has a way of meddling and not staying out of the fray when it really counts.
Thrown into the mix are hints at two separate side couples who seem destined to tangle together, as well. Here’s to hoping we see those two romances unfold eventually. I just wish the sister’s names of Uilleam and Karina were not so dang similar. Surely I’m not the only one who struggled to keep Isla and Elsie names straight in my head, especially when they were conversing. Maybe it was also because they both played very similar roles here.
The real icing on the cake though is the whole new vendetta of lethal revenge about to be unleashed on a character we all love to hate. Yeah, that person more than deserves it, and I’m pretty sure they will finally get what is coming to them. However, we all know they won't go down without a fight.
Sound intriguing? Well, you can bet your bottom dollar it is. I suggest you play catch up, if you haven’t already, by starting with book 1, White Rabbit: The Rise. It is absolutely essential not to skip a single story since this is not a stand-alone. Here’s to hoping the next book will be released sooner rather than later so we won’t be kept in the dark longer than necessary.

Just know each one canSince I binged read this three book series back to back via my Kindle Unlimited subscription, this is not an ARC review, folks. Just know each one can be considered a stand-alone but are linked to a series with the same sub-characters and ongoing backdrop plot involving an at times mostly referenced bad guy and back and forth travel from London to the magical world of Fae. That wicked fella took center stage more so in book 2 than the others. So, yeah, likely a good idea to read them in order if you are interested in a detailed scoop of the story line/full history of all of them.
Anyway, it’s a childhood sweethearts to briefly estranged then to passionate lovers. Marcus mucks them up with a knee jerk decision that ripped them apart and Cece, the heroine, does make him jump through hoops to make up for it. It was sweet to find they have always been sweet on each other to the point they kept their innocence and didn’t want anyone else ever.
Cece was a knucklehead, too, for not asking for help with a family issue. Thankfully, this posse of friends and family are used to banding together and tackling problems head on. They at least collectively are not a bunch of hand wringers, folks.
I must say I enjoyed book 1 the most due to the romantic dance, back and forth banter between that particular main couple. Steamy smex scenes on and off steam rolled over the plot in book 2 and did so in book 3, as well. To the point I found myself thinking, “Good grief, they are at it again. I just got a little tired of the numerous, started to feel redundant, descriptive, lengthy, lusty smex scenes once they started to patch things up. For me, the true magic happens in the emotional connection of my main couples. At least it was well established they had that going on, as well. I personally don't need such descriptive images in my head of their smexy time together.

In this case, the heroine was Fae and stole the show with her sass yet sweetness, engaging back and forth banter with the Duke hero, and her at first glance soul connecting chemistry with him. I’d call it a slow burn since it didn’t get smexy until close to the end, folks. Even then, I think there were only 3 or 4 very graphic steamy scenes that may make you blush. It had a proper English ton feel until things got a naughty towards the conclusion.
She seemed to see right to the heart of the man whom everyone else feared and helped him admit to himself he wasn’t the monster he had allowed others to peg himself for.
I enjoyed the sub-characters and felt it all fit together nicely. The wrap up continued at a leisurely pace when a rather inevitable event occurred.

Pros: Really enjoyed this feisty, sassy, drop dead gorgeous model heroine. She was quick with the comebacks and knew how to push back. The writing flowed, and I stayed engaged, just like the first book. Haven't read the 2nd one yet, which has this same hero briefly pursuing the leading lady of that story line. Loved how alpha protective and caring hero was of his guardian step sisters. Really cool his mom helped, as well, considering she wasn't their biological mama. Appreciated the no OW/OM drama. Was romance safe.
Cons: IMHO, the wrong person reached out first to make things right. I felt they were owed the greater apology.

Since this is not an ARC review, but a KU one, I'll get right to the point because I don't have the luxury of time to overly elaborate. The fact I pushed my ARC reading dance card aside to squeeze this series in does speak for itself.
Pros: Really enjoyed this author's writing style, which flowed and kept me engaged. Great sassy with the comebacks leading lady. Felt their attraction, pull to each other, and chemistry Sweet how Allie interacted with Luke's young daughter Liked the wit/humor that popped up here and there, especially with her famous model bestie girl friend, who gets her HEA in book 3 (Marriage Effect). Both celibate quite awhile.
Cons: At first sight, Luke was mean, presumptuous, judgmental of Allie just because she was model gorgeous. He also had the wrong take on the history between her and her now deceased NFL team owner dad so was quick to slap that label on her, as well. He had been tricked by a now deceased baby mama before, btw.
Allie could come across a tad too desperate to sleep with this guy. After their first meeting and how Luke acted, I really wanted him to continue to be miserable, especially with his rejections of her. Others, however, may like how she went after what she wanted. Wasn't wild about their pre-planned sexcapades arrangement agreement, but that's just my avid romantic at heart speaking.
No OW/OM drama, no love triangle, no cheating, single dad whose baby mama is deceased, eventually some very steamy/smexy scenes.
