There I was, lined up outside Tesco with my dad and sister, dressed as Hermione. Waiting to be let in to buy the final book, the last one! There had been so much anticipation! Since I work for Tesco, pallets of the book had rocked up a few days before and we were under strict orders not to look at them, they were covered up and there were rumours that you would have been fined stupid amounts if you has dared crack open the cover.
We were let in, a mad rush. What if they ran out!? I grabbed the book, a box set of the films and a toy wand, as did my dad and sister. Who both opted for a copy with a kids cover, while I went for the adult one. But I was to be tortured, as I had work the next day and had to go to bed. My sister started reading straight away, no fair.
Work was going to be Harry Potter themed though, as I put my Hermione outfit back on and joined my friend Donald, dressed as Harry in making sure the books were on sale at all times. Now this is the part in which it really started to suck. Brace yourselves, spoilers ahead.... people would walk up to the books, take one, read the last page and announce things like "Oh, Harry doesn't die!" WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!? I had never felt the urge to beat someone with a book before that moment. I hope that girl has everything spoiled for her, for eternity! AHHHHHH!
Oh the book. Yeah. It was great, as I expected it to be. Mega feels have just been had reading the last hundred or so pages, much ugly crying. I was so happy when I read the twist about Snape, I knew he couldn't be evil, even if I did have to suffer his death for it. R.I.P Snape <3 Not much more I can say about this, if you've read it, you will know what I'm talking about. If you haven't, don't waste any more time reading my review, just start the series.
One question though. Why was Wormtail in Gryffindor? He hardly seems to have the qualities for it. I wonder why the sorting hat put him there?

ItI'll admit, that when I read the first chapter, I was somewhat disappointed. It didn’t grab me from the off and I thought it all seemed a bit lame. It wasn’t long though before I started to warm to Alexia and her supernatural friends.
Alexia is a great character. She’s a Victorian Spinster who isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She’s intelligent but can also hold her own in a fight. She also has manners and in my head, I’ve given her a very posh speaking voice. Lord Maccon is the perfect match for her. Their interaction in the book was generally the most comedic.
I liked that supernaturals were ‘out' in Victorian society. The plot overall was okay but it was really the characters that made this. It wasn’t good enough to make me rush out and buy the rest of the series but I wouldn’t mind reading the rest of the books If they happened to come my way. A fun Victorian romp....more

Annoyingly I don’t have any more of these books so will be ages before I find out what happens.
The rest of the book was good, the plot with the demon babies was pretty sick though.
Also enjoying Simon’s love life and Simon in general. Thought he was really annoying in the first one. He has redeemed himself.
Although Jace would make a hit book boyfriend, he does tend to be a little wingey at times, especially when he is trying to talk about his feelings with Clary.
Definitely a series that is worth your time....more
City of Glass is a good solid addition to the series. Loads of action in this one, even if the main battle was very short and was kept off the pages.
LCity of Glass is a good solid addition to the series. Loads of action in this one, even if the main battle was very short and was kept off the pages.
Like the last one, the characters are being built upon and they are becoming more familiar. I’m really warming up to most of them. I even liked Sebastian before I found out what he was. Considering I found Simon super annoying in the first book, cant imagine the series with out him now.
We find out loads about the characters past, especially Jace and Clary. We also sadly lose someone special :(

The characters are more well rounded. Jace is still my absolute favourite. And Simon is less annoying once he becomes a Vampire, though there are some cringey bits at the beginning when he and Clary are kissing. Those two do not suit each other. Weird that, that seemed more gross than when she was kissing her brother!
The plot steps up. Valentine has a plan to make war with the Shadowhunters. By using a magical sword (I forget what it's called) to create a demon Army. He just needs some blood first. We spend more time with the Werewolves. Magnus and Alec's relationship develops. Clary and Jace discover they have special powers, different to the other Shadowhunters.
I did get annoyed in the beginning when Maryse accuses Jace of knowing that he was being brought up by Valentine rather than Michael. Valentine did this for ten years. Maryse was supposed to be friends with Michael right? Did she not visit him for ten years? Just seemed really strange to be that no one saw him for so long and figured out it was actually Valentine.
But otherwise, this was a good book and it's made me more invested in the series, which is good because I have two more books on my TBR list. ...more

The plot is good. ClaI did like this book, but not as much as I thought I would. I did keep getting distracted whilst reading it and putting it down.
The plot is good. Clary discovers she's actually a Shadowhunter and not just a mundane. Unfortunately she discovers this after her mother is taken and she is attached by a demon. This opens up a whole new world to her, things like vampires and werewolves are no longer fairy tales.
I thought there was going to be a love triangle with her, Simon and Jace. But it looks like her and Jace won't be happening now, since they are siblings. It's weird that was a plot twist, as I've just read a lot of Virginia Andrews back to back. Anyone who knows her books, knows she loves her incest! It was just strange reading an incest plot twist in a YA fantasy book. Also a shame as I think Simon was super annoying and I guess we will be stuck with him for the rest of the series.
Overall wasn't bad and I'm interested to see how the rest of the series plays out....more

Completely devoured this one is a couple of days and absolutely gutted that I am not in possession of the rest of the series!
Also would never have thought that a child member of the murdered Romanov family would pop us in this series. Bizarre, but I liked it. I also get just as confused about vampire politics as Sookie does!...more

I was sucked back into Sookie's life like a Fangbanger in Fangtasia and I loved every second of it. I can't really remember much about the fairies in the show but I don't remember them being so nasty or so involved with the story. I also like Sam in the book much better than his TV counterpart.
Eric is amazing as always and I even felt sorry for Bill in this one.

Set in a dystopian future, London is walled off from the rest of the country and is under the control of two rival ganglords. The area around London is left to a race called 'Halfmen'. These are a mixture of humans, animals and machines mashed into one. They don't get on with humans.
One of the ganglords tries to form a peace treaty to the other by wedding off his daughter to him. But then the Gods get involved and betrayal becomes the norm.
This all sounds pretty interesting but it's not. I had to keep forcing myself to read. The only two characters I liked were Cherry & Melanie and they were both killed which was depressing. I didn't care about any of the others and didn't really care which one won. Not a winner for me.

Evie works works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency and spends her time bagging and tagging all the paranormal creatures she comes across.
Then Lend breaks in to the IPCA, Evie captures him but things are not the same after that. She starts to spend time with him and question everything else she knows. Things are not as she thought. And then something starts killing paranormals and things get serious,
At first I wasn't keen on Evie, she reminded me of someone I don't really like but I started to soften towards her about halfway through. And I instantly liked Lend! He was cool and their romance was really sweet.

After reading the second book, though my liking for Elena took a bit of a decline and I wasn't too bothered about getting away for a bit.
Following Paige's story would not have been my first choice, as she was very irritating in the last book. But this goes more in-depth with her character and she is much cooler than I first thought.
Not only has she taken teenage witch Savannah under her wing, she is also coven leader to a group of crusty old witches who would rather hide than stand up for anything.
She then finds herself being targeted by half-demons & sorcerers who are claiming family connections with Savannah and she has a battle on her hands!
Enter the lovable Cortez and things start to get real interesting! This pulls the series back up there from the last book. Looking forward to the next one! ...more

It's not really her fault, she is a captive for most of the book, she just keeps alot of her sass inside her head. She very meek around the bad guys and it just started to annoy me as she spends so much time in this prison place.
I liked that there are other supernatural creatures in the book but again feel we didn't get much out of them as they are also stuck in this prison.
I also didn't understand how that woman managed to become a werewolf and survive? I thought the special thing about Elena is that she is the only one to have gone though the whole process and lived. I didn't like that this nobody managed it as well.
When she finally escapes and meets up with Clay, that's when all the good stuff happens. I really enjoyed the final part of the book with the chase for the bad guy. It's just a shame we didn't see more of this in the story. ...more

Upon becoming Queen, Victoria discovers that some of her staff have the task of hunting demons. It surprises her even more , when she discovers she has a talent for it herself.
I liked this book but not as much as 'Henry VIII:Wolfman'. It made me smile alot but I expected there to be more demon hunting than their actually was. Also liked the twist at the end about Victoria and Albert's true ancestry. Although I'm sure some conspiracy theorists would argue that this is not fiction at all.
This book is certainly not for the people who pick up historical fiction books and then moan the author is not accurate. But if you have a sense of humor, you'll find something to like here. ...more

**SPOILERS** Sookie finds herself inThe more I read this series, the more I like it. I've kinda stopped comparing it to the tv show now.......kinda.
**SPOILERS** Sookie finds herself in more supernatural trouble. The weres are being murdered, the vamps face a hostile takeover, Bob finally becomes a man again - an angry one and Eric remembers.
She also dumps Quinn which I was gutted about. A stupid reason as well, he put his family first. Not being funny Sook but he's only known you about 5 mins, it's not like you're married or anything, why wouldn't his family come first? However this breakup does make way to more potential romance with Eric. And I'm not saying no to page time with Eric.
I also really like the witches and I'm glad they are living with Sookie, I hope we see more of them and they don't rush back to New Orleans.

I really love Sookie and Quinn's relationship, it's just a shame those pesky vampires keep getting in the way. As much as I love Eric, him and Sookie are not meant to be for each other.
I don't know who was doing the cover designs for this, but why chuck Jason on the front of a book. He's in it for about five minutes, where he takes the time to marry his pregnant were-panther lover. I can't belive Jason got married! And by the end of the book, another character who is hardly in it, ends up getting hitched. Wedding bells are in the air!

He's a great character and I think him and Sookie make a cute couple. He's no Eric but he's totally second best! I hope he sticks around, I have a horrible feeling he won't :(
I also feel like the vampires have taken a back seat. Seems to be more were animals and shifters around oh and don't forget the witches! Okay so we had the vampire Queen storyline but that still felt kinda secondary. And I don't actually mind. The weres seem to have more of a personality in the books.
And for completely unrelated reasons I was loving that this book was set in New Orleans. Mainly because I got moved free of charge to Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter as the hotel I booked had construction starting. I'm literally so excited about this as I never would have been able to afford it. Every time the book mentioned New Orleans, The French Quarter or Beignets(I can't wait to try these!) I got excited about it all over again.

I really liked this instalment of the series. Not enough Eric for my liking though! Still not really enough Tara, I mean we've seen more of her than in other books but she still hardly got any page time. I expected more since she is on the cover.
I loved the whole werewolf politicalness of choosing a new packmaster and was very sad with the results, I don't think this will bode well for Sookie in the long run.
And I never saw either of the bad guys coming, I really liked the new vampire and wanted him to stick around. The only place he'll be sticking to now is the floor :(

Anyways.......I recently CEX'd all my True Blood DVDs. I am now regretting this because reliving, well I'm not sure reliving is the best word, the character in question being very dead, the True Blood story has been awesome. Eric is, after Snape, my biggest fictional crush. Eric in the books is amazing, Eric on the tv screen is something else entirely ;) [image] And I loved the season he lost his mind and became quiet sweet. And I loved reading about it. I always wanted Sookie and Eric to get together and we have it briefly here. I really enjoyed the last Darren Shan book despite not liking it so much when I read it when I was younger. The second in the series is just as good as the first. Darren struggles with his new half human/half vampire identity and refuses to drink human book which is making him very weak. I was worried in the first chapter that they were the murdering kinda vamps. But this was soon cleared up and it turns out they only take a small amount and the human is fine.
He also realises his strength and accidently hurts a boy when playing football. Mr Crepsley decides he needs friend who knows about him and back to the Cirque De Freak we go. He quickly makes friends with Snake-boy and is much happier. They then make friends with a human boy called Sam, why they do this after the football incident, I don't know?
Everything is going fine until an environmental activist ruins it all (Don't they always?) and it all ends in tragedy. I think this is going to turn out to be a really strong series and I can't wait for the next one. ...more
