Every character (with the STRONG exception of Van and Gretchen) was gorgeous. Inevitably there will be heartache in a novel spanning 75 years but the overall story will warm your soul. My love for Frankie, for Nor, and for Damien, (a young man that enters the story in 2024) will be with me for awhile. I did not see this story going the path that it did, but again...WOW. The last 10 pages will leave you emotionally exhausted. This book must be read by everyone reading this review. It is simply a safe story told numerous times. Single mom Ruth, comes in to town with her teenage daughter Marley. Teenage daughter falls for two brothers Bay and Way Joseph and gets pregnant. Marley takes child and leaves town only to come back months later. The Joseph’s family mother Elise, never really accepts Marley yet there’s a connection. Elise has her own demons. Their father Mick has his demons as does each of the sons and Marley. Lots of family dysfunction for sure, but I never “warmed up� to the issues. Didnt hold my interest. With that�.Chapter 32 the book becomes a page turner. An accident happens and where will it all end up. Also it gives the youngest brother, Shay, some dialog and you just fall in love with him. Thus this unimaginable story of Hai and Grazina begins. Stunning how beautifully a story can be written when that story is filled with darkness, despair, suicide, dementia, death, mental health issues etc. The friendships realized are heartfelt. The HomeMarket characters will have you laugh and have you cry. You will love each of them. A brilliant story, so touchingly written. It’s a MUST READ when it publishes May 13!!!
