One of my GR friends compared her to vanilla pudding but I would argue that and say she was more like brussel sprouts. At least vanilla pudding is palatable. Which is honestly a shame, because the H's point of view was written 4x better in my opinion. I found his character super interesting and refreshing but I couldn't get past the h and her banal and inert dialogue. And should I even bother complaint about the h's BFF, Lucy? God, I wish she wasn't a character at all. ...more

The dialogue was super cheesy and choppy, and the nicknames the characters gave each other was awkward and overkill. What happened to this author?? I loved her first two books and have not connected with a book since Into The Storm.
The characters themselves were my main issue. Why does everyone need to have a tragic past? It was all very formulaic. Like the author had a manuscript on "how to write a romance novel with a wealthy hero and a poor heroine" and was just following that outline. ...more

Was it my favorite by this author? Absolutely not. That still goes to Wrecking Ball with Cam and Cal.
The only thing holding me back from giving this 5 stars is the manwhore hero and the other women drama. WHY P. DANGELICO WHY?!?! I don't understand the need to write men like this. I hated Dane's guts for the first 30%, but I guess its a true testament to this authors writing ability that made me like him by the end. It makes me sick to my stomach when the H thinks to himself how many women he's had in the past. Did I really need to read him talk about his naked Twister threesomes in college? Fuck no.
I get it. He's a famous star athlete and of course he's going to have OW flocking to him. I guess its realistic that he would be a manwhore. But why why why why give the heroine a pathetic amount of sexual experience?!?!? It drives me absolutely insane!! I'm not asking for much!! If the hero is going to be portrayed as real as possible than I demand the heroine be too! And guess what?? Women date and have sex with men! Geez.
But I digress....
Other than that, I really did enjoy reading this despite my mostly negative review. Some things just really grind my gears. This author has no problem writing developed characters with scorching chemistry and I can't wait to read more from her.
This girl has ZERO backbone. "my body quiver"s this and "My body was on fire" that. Give it a rest.
And its even worse when the author has the heroine This girl has ZERO backbone. "my body quiver"s this and "My body was on fire" that. Give it a rest.
And its even worse when the author has the heroine acknowledge her pitifulness. Dear author, if you want your heroine to be strong woman, WRITE HER AS A STRONG WOMAN AND NOT A 'QUIVERING' MESS.
Wow. I've never read a book where two main characters got put together by default. How romantic.

I decided to read this knowing I wasn't going to like it and the only reason why I read this was to get more glimpses of Lucca and Chloe and to see Amo a broken man. I got what I came for and thats why this book gets 2 stars.
I'm almost offended the author wrote this and decided it was good enough to publish. After you write a love story like Lucca and Chloe, the intense, soul crushing love story, you choose to follow up with this mess????? This mess where both characters thought they were in love with other people until 85%?????? No ma'am. Lucca and Chloe was without a doubt one of the best books I've ever read, and the fact that this book is even in the same universe as the previous one makes me furious. Lucca and Chloe was liquid fire; Angel and Adalyn can be compared to expired milk.
The last thing ill say is Maria better get an amazing fucking hero. The hero better be balls-to-the-wall amazing and for gods sake, if Maria is a virgin I'm gonna write some angry emails to Sarah Brianne (kidding, but not really.)
I'm just gonna go back and read Lucca for the forth time #sorry #notsorry

Characters were a bit dry and the heroine wasn’t as level headed as I thought she would be. She forgave the hero wayyyy to easily for my taste. Hero was broody but not the good kind. I wanted to reach into the book and give him a good “get over yourself slap. Can’t say that i didn’t enjoy it though. And I did finish it, which lately I consider a huge accomplishment.
I wanna give this book 5 starts and 1 star all in the same review. It was a rollercoaster of intense chemistry and utter frustration.
The heroine. WowI wanna give this book 5 starts and 1 star all in the same review. It was a rollercoaster of intense chemistry and utter frustration.
The heroine. Wow. What a dumb bitch- the definition of too stupid to live. I wanted her rot away and die. She doesn’t deserve a hea: her constant crying and drowning in self loathing was almost unreadable. Almost. Hero is the only reason this book gets any stars.

So Jessa Kane has branded herself as the taboo smut author while alexa riley has branded herself as the wholesome one. Put them together and it is NOT a good combination. It was like their writing was fighting for dominance and neither was getting any footing. The dialogue made zero sense to me, the characters made even less sense. This is supposed to be unrealistic smut but we still have this numskull heroine who "wants her freedom and doesn't want to be ruled by a man." *clears throat* I did not decide to read this book to hear about the heroines woe-is-me backstory and her flaky feministic ideals. I came for the smut.
