This was one of those books where the author tells you that these characters are head over heals in love, but they don't do anything to show the audience that its not just skin deep. There was ALOT of pushing away from the H and h does that really annoying this where she promises to herself that she won't take it anymore and then the H breathes on her and she melts at his feet. I would say this is safe for most? Maybe? Spoilers below...
They met in high school and they see each other sporadically throughout the years and both sleep with other people. Thank god the h wasn't a whimpering virgin! The H was in jail for 6 years so he was celibate and the h is the only women he's with after he's out. The H's past is very very murky and almost nothing is fleshed out but he did say one time how he fucked whores and another time he said he was "pimped out by the age of 13." Like i said before, there was a lot of separation and it seems like the H stays faithful to the h. There was a scene earlier in the book where he has to take a hot shower to scrub another woman touch off of him because it grossed him out so much. ...more

I'm just so conflicted because I read romance for the romance aspect of the book and this book said multiple times how there was no romance happening because the main characters "didn't feel that was about the other anymore." There were no other partners during separation which is a blessing but........ still..... Strange book....more

It was so distracting that it took away from the paranormal and romance aspects of the book.
