There wasnt much character development until the very end, and the ending wasnt satisfying. I'm not going to write a long review because im not quite sure what to write about. What I do know is, this booked lacked passion. While the MC's had plenty of personality and chemistry, there was no passion that had me on the edge of my seat. It didnt help that the hero pushed the heroine away until the 98% mark of the book. And the only reason why he chased her across the country was because he thought she would sleep with someone else, and she had been on a vacation of sorts for awhile already. So if the hero never fell under the impression she would be with another man, would he have ever gone after her?
I didnt mind the heroine, actually. She did throw herself at the hero at times, and it gave me second hand embarrassment, BUT it was written in a way that made sense. I felt like her character was smart enough to see past the heros bull shit and had the balls to press him on the issue instead of crying in a corner. She was definitely alot stronger than the hero was in my opinion.
I don't know. This is just an odd book to talk through. On top of the lack passion, you get the same old same old of -heroine gets cheated on by past fiancé -stuttering and hardened nipples -heroine falling every time the hero enters a room *literally over 6 times this happened* -hero mansplaining why he cant be with the heroine.

A couple things that bugged me: 1. The hero and heroine barely had any interaction by the middle of the story and this wasn’t a long book to begin with. I had to read the same details I read in the previous book over and over again. 2. The hero tried to hump and dump the heroine on multiple occasions. “Hey thanks for the sex “again but you should avoid me from now on. Kthanksbye.- our hero. 3. All that time wasted in the beginning of the book makes the romance and love part feel super forced and unromantic. 4. The dialogue between the different alien species was off putting. The author makes all of the characters sound like brainless surfer bros in the cringiest sitcom you’ve ever seen. 5. We get to hear details of the heros last brothel visit. Isn’t that just the best? And of course the heroine is a virgin whos so sheltered she doesn’t even know what sex is.
And last but not least: I will not be reading the next book in this series or possibly any other after. The hero of the next book kept complaining about not getting laid in this book but yet we still get to hear about him visiting brothels. Yeah, fuck that. 🖕...more

And another thing. How about authors stop giving heroine lame as FUCK comebacks.

The number one being that there was no logical reason to split this up into 3 smaller parts. It would have already been a short read if it was all together, but to break it down even further is kindof insulting. Add on the fact that the first installment in this "series" was released in April, so there was also a ton of waiting time between books.
Reason #2: there was an extremely disgusting rape scene. It happens to the villain as the heroines form of revenge, but it felt very distasteful and it made me nauseous. It was gory and detailed and made me question why I was even reading it. All of that effort could have been spent on more scenes with the hero and heroine, as they didnt get much to begin with. Someone was constantly being beaten up or raped or murdered that the couple barely had any time to be together happily.
What started out as a sexy, albeit non-safe, paranormal read turned into a poorly constructed jumble of "action stuff."...more

The heroine, while she was obviously meant to be written this way, was beyond pathetic. Every time she had an insecure moment it was super cringy and I got second hand embarrassment from reading it. She was written as one of those girls who aren't a complete person unless if they have a boyfriend to pick up their baggage for them. While im all for different kinds of heroines, im for character development more. There was zilch from the h. And all of her inner ramblings about how she will never be the strong heroine hit you over the head that made her a character I didnt want to route for.

I was gonna give this book 4 Now hold up..... you can’t just end a book like that!! This has got to break some kind of romance HEA rule or something. I was gonna give this book 4 stars but the ending made me change my mind. I don’t typically need epilogues when I read but, mother of god, this book 10000% needed one. It felt very inconclusive and it needed more details to show the audience that, yes, the MCs do stay together and not repeat the past of the heroines parents. What’s to make me believe that they stay together after 1, 5, 10 Years?
And OF COURSE the heroine had to give up her life in her city for the heros Dreams. I was mentally begging the author to come up with some type of middle ground instead of the heroine giving up her entire family, but that’s what always ends up happening.
Other than those two big details, I did enjoy it. I wanted to strangle the heroine for the first 25% and I knew that if I ever met this person in real life I would instantly want to give a reality slap to 👋...more

This was a weird one. It felt really...clinical for about 50%. There was no romance element to this until about 75% and even then all hell breaks loose with the heroine literally BEGGING him to have sex with her and saying "I love you" while the hero's just like "Nah, cant risk hurting you." I've avoided this author for some time, knowing that her books were unsafe, but I'm glad I got to be reacquainted with Ms Reiss's writing. She's an excellent writer and her character development is always on point. And even better, this series was safe from cheating and OW/OM drama, so yay!!!! The hero and heroine were outstanding MC's. The author actually had them communicate with each other instead of being angsty teenagers. -- Overall this series gets 5 stars.
As I was saying, the last book fell a bit flat. I loved reading about the hero's split personality but grew tired of the concept when the same thing happens to the heroine and then the villain. It was too much of a good thing. Props to the author for writing an original plot! ...more

I think thats my problem with this author in general. She writes great chemistry, lust filled books but can never seem to figure out how to finish it with a declaration of love.

Which was a real shame because the first 25% I was totally hooked and really loving it! At that point there were only 4 characters in the story, but as more time goes on you got 8, 10, then 12 other people in the story who are there for no reason at all. In one room you had Hero and his family, heroine, ex girlfriend of H, a mafia boss and his pose/family, heroines parents, and the guy theyre trying to set her up with. It was really distracting and made me start to skim.
On top of that, I knew absolutely nothing about the H's character. All you knew for most of the story was the fact that he had an eye patch from the military and he was rich. I need character development!
This got three stars because the hero and heroine were discovering Dd/lg for the first time together and I LOVED THAT SO MUCH. You didnt get an H who was already *very* familiar with that brand of kink so he was new to that level of intimacy just as much as the heroine was. It made it really romantic if you're into that type of thing.
Safety: I didnt finish it but it was shaping up to be a very safe book. Slight OW drama- hero doesn't give the OW any attention but he did used to date her.
