This book lived at our family holiday house and I read it every year along with my cousin's old Mad magazines. Classic! When the house was sold, Mum rescued the book and here we are.
Several jokes do not stand the test of time - some for their very British or outdated celebrity references (I haven't heard of several of the celebrities mentioned, but I can't really hold that against it as I am far too young for M & W!), some for their questionable content that wouldn't fly today (Dressing up as a native American anyone? Predatory behaviour for laughs? No?). Definitely a book of its time, it is in many ways a relic, but it is also a fascinating look into the comedy of its day....more
