I liked it. It made me appreciate the movie more. I think the fact that it was an audiobook helped. I had never really listed to a full audio book before. I had tried, but I kept falling asleep. It wasn't until I figured I had to keep busy while listening that I was able to manage to enjoy it.I had it read to me while doing dishes, cooking and driving. The narrator was excellent. She really made me fall into the story.
The book itself was pretty good. I can see why people were raving about it. I had tried reading it several times for the past 3 years and could never finish it. Now that I did, I want to quickly continue to the next one, but it has been spoiled for me. I don't know.
Reading the book after watching the movie made me realize that the flaws in the movie were also flaws in the book. I still have so many questions about this world, about the importance of divergence, etc... yet, I don't know if I'm motivated enough to continue and try to find out the answers in the next book.
I recommend the book for those curious about what all the fuss it's about. I really enjoyed Tris' path to self discovery and of course...Four....more
I really, really liked this book. I was a bit reluctant to read it at first because of the negative movie reviews, but I'm glad I read it.

I've always liked Fairy Tales. I read them when I was little and fell in love with Beauty and The Beast when I saw a really old version of the movie on TV. The Disney version mesmerized me and it is still one of my favorite animated movies of all time. I was curious to see what Alex Flinn had done with his own version. He did not disspoint. This is a really well executed retelling of the story. It is told from the Beast's perspective and Linda does not come into play until about the last 3rd of the book. The author mixes differnt former versions and does a great job creating his own. I could not put this book down.
If you like fairy tales, re-telling of fairy tales, or just good YA books in general, I strongly recommend this book. I have yet to see the movie, but I can see that as usual it will fall short from the book.
Okay. I do have have two things I could have done without. 1. The Instant Messaging support group. 2.A couple of lines that were a bit too cheesy. Other than that this book was excellent....more

It has been a while since I've read a series that really, trully calls my attention and I really trully care for all the characters. This one became a favorite from the first chapter. I love Elena's character. She is a strong heroine, she knows who she is, is independent, she has bagage but understands that it has allowed her to become who she is. What I like the most about her character is that she is absolutely tough without being a (*)itch. Raphael is also a great hero. He is the Archangel of New York. Powerful and feared by most. Soon you realize that there is more to him than what the world knows about him. The relationship that develops between him and Elena is one of my favorites.
My favorite part about this world is that the Angels are not Holy creatures. No religious issues here. They are the powerful beings that create vampires and pretty much rule the world. The entire story and characters were very well developed. I just loved this book.
If you prefer series such as the Fever, Night Huntress and even Anita Blake, you will definitely like this one. Highly recommend....more
This is one of those books I would probably have never considered reading without the reviews of the group I trust here in goodreads.

I liked this book from the very beginning and even though I got a bit confused and it was a bit difficult to understand in some parts, I really enjoyed it to the end. I realized that the author only allowed you to see and experience everything as it was happening and being understood by the narrator (Isobel). As the narrator understood more so did the reader.
I liked the heroine Isobel. I felt her character was well balanced and believeable. I liked the hero too, but was suprised/shocked to discover some truths about him.It made me understand him more. The ending left me wanting to read the next book as soon as it comes out.
I have read a few works by Poe, mostly when I was in HS and maybe college. Have never really been much interested in him beyond that. This book had an interesting take on his life, works and death. It was a bit of a different kind of paranormal for me. The closest I can recall to reading something similar would be, "The Never Ending Story". Though I don't think would be categorized as paranormal:). I can't wait to find out more about what is going on in this world.
I have to say that my favorite character, above even than the heroine is, Gwen. I loved that girl! ...more

From that very first page I liked the tone of the book and wanted to read everything Anna had to tell me. The thought of reading about contemporary teenagers without a paranormal element, with few exceptions, has been pretty much out of the question for me. I even banned the Gossip Girls and Clique books from my now teen daughter. I try to keep an open mind as to what she reads and she's pretty smart, but I had one look at those books and they left a bad taste in my mind. Anna and the French Kiss however, is NOTHING like those books. I'm not saying the characters are goody two shoes,w they are not!. But that is actually what I like most about the story. Ettiene is NOT too perfect, not physically, not personality wise, but yet somehow he is awesome. The imperfections as described only make him seem more real. He's described as being short and with crooked teeth. I think the last book I read when 6+ feet and straight white teeth were not described in the main male character was in Jane Eyre! Anna herself is a great heroine. Just the gap in her teeth had me liking her already. I did not want this book to end, I loved it from the beginning, I was never bored or irritared with the characters or the situations they were in. Not that agreed with everything that was going one, but I liked them so much I just felt like giving them the benefit of the doubt and read everything till the end before I formed a full opinion.
