His first reaction was to recommend this comic series to me. Now, I love to do my own art but I tend to have a hard time following what goes on in comics and graphic novels. I'm quite used to literary fiction and pictures are something that haven't been in my reads for many many years. But I have been exposed to some great graphic novels in the past few years, and said that I would give it a shot.
So far, I'm not sure what's going on here, but I'm intrigued. The storyline definitely has me asking a lot of questions. ...more

Adichie is such a powerful writer of prose, I cannot give her less than a 4 star. This time, it was not because I enjoyed the stories (I found them sad and frustrating) but because she so expertly places the reader in someone else's shoes. These stories are not happy warm and fuzzy, but they speak to the truth of hard situations that at least some Nigerians must find themselves in. They are raw and real, and so I appreciate them....more

I think dragons are such a fascinating topic for literature, and the idea of writing about characters who are on the leading edge of learning about drI think dragons are such a fascinating topic for literature, and the idea of writing about characters who are on the leading edge of learning about dragons and how they live is quite clever. I found our "Lady Trent" to be highly insufferable, however, and it caused me much irritation in reading this book.
I'm curious enough to consider picking up the sequel, but not yet wholly convinced....more
